We did 11 days with no,power in '91 with a baby ... 3 days in 2003 . It's like camping but with a whole house ! Chas. Sure but that doesn't solve someone touching the end of the suicide cord. Yesterday the RGE crews I worked with main concern after they killed the power to severed primary lines , was someone who, hooked up a generator wrong . Faulty main breaker , loose connection and so on . Oh well I learned from '91 . Gas fireplace heats the house with no power , sump pump back up runs off water line , many led lanterns . Plus passports and 2k cash in safe if long term we'll be in the D.R. Mrs 302 heads to Florida for 3 weeks in a few days !!!! I don't care if I got power or not , I can sip whiskey and smoke cigars in the dark just fine !
moog5050
Can't complain much. It's still 72 in the house and freezer is a non issue especially with temps dropping. Plus, I can just stay with Larry. Lol 91 was epic.

Zag
Wind took out or pine tree that took out our power line to the house yesterday. Ripped half the line off the house but not the box. I had my phone on silent in a work meeting and didn't see my wife called a few times. F I law came over to get my generator going for our sump pump that always runs. Some how the sump pump shorted out with the power. By the time I saw my wife called f I law got a new pump and had it just a bout going before the crock and drains filled up. Called n grid and they sent a crew over and said I needed a electrician to repair my end before they would. Had electrician within a half hr fixed his end re attached line from road to house and I thought we were back in business. Somethings still messed up because some outlets were well over 150 and some under 40. Being so inconsistent we cut the power. I ended up getting another generator to use just for our furnace today but the furnace wouldn't turn on, got our HVAC guy over and had to replace a relay from the outage. Now have heat, no lights or water and no sign of n grid.
t_barb
I waited all day to put eyes on a National Grid truck and that never happened.. Town came thru and cleaned up the 10+ trees laying across the road.. I think it is going to be a couple more days.. Thanks good for the gas fireplace!! Paula
We have generator, hooked it up this morning. Most of our road was closed because of power line and a couple trees. It's a mess around here. I took dogs to beagle club. No work today and they just called, we don't have to go in tomorrow either We got power back a 515.
The_Real_TCIII
These people 150 yards away have power! So aggravating. I do have cable and wifi though so it's not all bad Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
fasteddie
Power went out yesterday and the whole house generator came on . Yippie . The regular power was back on in about 5 minutes . We lost cable and the Internet and were without it until around 4 pm today . Furnace Road in Ontario was shut down due to trees in the road . I had to take a detour in order to get out this am . I had to get my blood checked and forgot how stupid drivers can be . When the signal lights are out , drivers are supposed to stop like it is a 4 way stop and some don't . I stopped on Rt 104 by basket road in Webster and started to pull out . Some jerk heading south on Basket Road never stopped and if I hadn't been cautious , the guy would have T-boned my vehicle . Saw a lot of drivers not stopping at the signal lights . I wonder if they are aware of the driving regulations .

Sometimes people wonder why some people have power when others down the road do not. I worked for NYSEG for 40 yrs. worked 16, 20 hr days in October storm. Maybe Moog 50/50 is only one on his own transformer.(keep calling in) The problem is when I started back in the "70"s we had 140 linemen full time, if power was out for 3 days that was a long time, now they have 20 full time linemen(in the western area) & depend on contractors to come in & who ever calls them in first they go so if your co. is down on the list you get no one or wait for the ones farthest away it might take them 3 days to get here. We also had to answer to the PSC which no longer seems to care. People should b!+ch!
