turkeyfeathers
Dad gave this tree to daughter on her first birthday. Guessing it's 18-20 feet tall now. 13 years of growing. Hers , his and only one other we know of around. Such a neat tree. Only in a great while do I need pole saw to cut a few all green leaves off. Steuben Jerry
TF, We did the same thing for each of our daughters. Unfortunately that was two houses ago and the new owners took them out shortly after they purchased the property. That's a real good looking tree!
growalot
Same with us...they cut them down. River has a Dunstun Chestnut, I hope he gets to take his first deer from under it.

dbHunterNY
i love the idea too with the exception the previous owners of my house planted sumac trees in the yard and going up the driveway. i got to them at i assume to be 13 years old based on when land was cleared and the house built. don't worry they're all gone now. it was all out war for a few years though. philoshop
I helped my brother plant a bunch of trees when he moved into his house. Fruit trees, pines, nut trees... he thought it was a waste of time. It's been almost thirty years now, and he loves the chestnuts he can salvage from the squirrels. He's planted a few dozen more over the years. Trees are good.

Pygmy
Reminds me of a joke.... A scout for the Green Bay Packers went to Ole Olsen's house to interview him as a possible member of the team.. Ole was not home, but his wife told the scout that Ole would be home soon , and to sit down for a cup of coffee.. As the scout drank his coffee, Mrs. Olsen, a robust woman, was cleaning the kitchen.. She picked up the fridge, and cleaned underneath it, and proceeded to move numerous heavy items in the kitchen.. Wanting to make conversation, the scout said..." You are very physically fit, Mrs. Olsen, did you ever consider playing with the Green Bay Packers ? " Mrs, Olsen blushed and said " Oh NOOO...I only play with OLE'S packer..."
