WNYBuckHunter
For the first time ever, it looks like I will be missing the opening day of gun season. I have to take a trip to Nashville for work, and wont be getting back until next Saturday or Sunday night. What a bummer, I was really looking forward to opening morning, which may be my best shot at one of our remaining hit list bucks.
turkeyfeathers
Ouch. But keep in mind you already shot a great buck and one ahead of most of us. They'll still be out there for you when you do get out there. I haven't missed an opening day in..... forever. Doewhacker
Bummer, send Hailey out to do the shooting instead. I usually go on the opener but don't expect much and dont go to a great spot, this year I am excited to get Nate out there

grampy
That can be a huge disappointment for sure. As we all look forward to the opener all year. But I have huge confidence in your hunting abilities to make it happen when you do get out there! You will be OK buddy. You will make it happen on "YOUR" opening day!
LET EM GROW
Mine doesnt look promising either! Between no baby sitters, and my wifes very busy work schedule, and my grandmother coming in from S.C. to see the newborns and have early Thanksgiving.. im not impressed.. lol
fasteddie
No sense in letting the stand go to waste . Why don't you give me the coordinates and permission and I will put the stand to good use . 3

Lawdwaz
Tough deal John but work (GULP) comes first. Good for you on holding up your end of the bargain! Funny thing though, I wanted to quit my job today when the sun came up; no wind and a heavy frost. The leaves were raining straight down around the trees at work. What I wouldn't do to have been a tree stand at dawn today. Heartbreaking...............
Elmo
There's hunting down in Tennessee also. You can pretend it's also opening day.
Pygmy
Tough break, John....This year will be my 53rd opening day of NY deer season and I have been fortunate enough never to miss one...I even was lucky enough to schedule a week's leave each of the two years that I was on active duty in the service... Closest I ever came to missing one was a frigid morning about 40 years ago when my oil furnace quit working...I hunted the first couple of hours and then had to go home and work on my furnace to keep the pipes in the house from freezing...BUT I was still in the woods opening day for the first couple of hours...

Robhuntandfish
Maybe while your in Nashville you'll bump into Luke Bryan or Blake Shelton and get to talking about how you are missing the opener and they invite you to one of their private ranches......it could happen!!! Sucks you will miss it. There is something about opening day for sure. Breakfast here at the house with the boys then we head to the woods. Would hate to miss it too. But you gotta pay the bills. Good luck later in season.

Good luck later in season. I know Luke Bryan has 2 or 3 leases. One is in Iowa, another in Texas and I think another in Kentucky. I’d hunt with that guy any day. Just seems like a great guy.
WNYBuckHunter
Btw, I’m not even sure how many times I’ve been to Nashville, never met anyone famous there except the Don
