what NY trips do you have planned for 2018?

Have hunted out west since 2014. Was really thinking I’ll do a mule deer hunt or a whitetail Hunt in Kentucky. I always get close to booking, but then talk myself out of spending that kind of $

My girlfriend, and I love camping, so we plan to visit our family camp in Fulton County as much as possible.   We also might try to get to Rollins Pond State Campground too for the surrounding flat water rivers/streams to kayak on.

Outside of NY, we go to Moosehead Lake,  Maine every summer for 2 weeks to camp, kayak, explore the dirt roads,  and spot moose.

I have the opposite problem, get some funds into my hunt fund and it burns a hole in my pocket.^_^

i have one more planned but its top secret!  lol   Ive been sworn to secrecy by 4 other guys .  We go there every year opening weekend of Pike season and usually get at least one 40+ inch Northern.  In many years of fishing there on opening weekend have seen one other boat.   This is my biggest yet and ended up on the wall.  I live on Oneida lake and the walleye opener is a big deal here for sure, but always go to this spot for northerns for one day.  Lots of places in NY to catch big northerns but we always have the lake to ourselves.

i do the same thing.  I research a big trip , then i just dont do it cause dont want to spend the $ .   I look at trips out west for elk or to Newfoundland for moose etc.  Sounds like a great time but cant pull the trigger, so to speak.  I always apply for a couple of draw tags for a do it yourself hunt - Maine Moose and PA Elk but chances are wont never get a tag.

Just saw this, that is the area we go too. We stay in Rockland, love it there and may end up living way out in the woods there some day.

Rockland, or Rockwood?  By Mount Kineo?

We stay at Lily Bay State park for about 5 nights usually, then go right into Greenville, and stay another 5 nights at leisure life resort.

I have the same plans! It is heaven on earth.  I want to be near kokadjo, or somewhere on a little pond inbetween.

We are headed to Cumming Georgia end if June and plan on hitting up Lake Lanier for at least a day off bass fishing.....as far as local spots we will be putting the boat back in the water for the first time since my oldest was born in 2014 and hitting up Lake Erie on calm days..... Chatauqua in May or close to ice out, and maybe Lime or Bear Lake a few times. Not looking to target anything specific....just get my boys interested in fishing.

Rockland yes, I always mess that up and its been years lol.

We rent a cabin or home, used to be through VRBO or Homeaway but now we have a guy that has enough nice places to choose from that we go direct through him. He is a great host and even pointed me to a hell of bird spot.

My apologies to the OP for the mini derail and trips not in NY.

No doubt.  Hopefully this time you will get more than 2 hours of hunting in!

Yeah, but I gotta say, those two hours were pretty exciting! Just another step or two, and I would have gotten a shot at what would have been one of my biggest bow bucks! Not to mention your world class hospitality, family, and meeting some really good guys! It was beyond a doubt, the best time I had hunting last season!

The Mrs. and I are going back to Ogunquit Maine in May. And of course our usual trips to Vermont throughout the summer months. And as many fishing trips on the boat with my grandsons, that I can do!

Fishing somewhere in June, last year was Cayuga and it was great but we move around. Guys come up from NJ so we try to meet in between. Lake Placid in August

The wife and I went to lake placid a few years ago in april ,it was still cold enough to go on the bobsled track with ice . We walked around the whole facility for a couple hours ,walked through the woods and saw some of the old track from the Olympics in 80s.
