The fleas are a PITA on the Finger Lakes in summertime also..

I took some to work with me once and looked at them under the microscope...On the line they just look like a fibrous mass, but under the scope you can see that  are individual little critters...

Can the spines puncture a finger or anything they may come in contact with?  They do appear to be a PITA!  I haven't come in contact with them........yet.

No, they are similar to the cottonwood  fluff that is a problem from time to time....They build up on the line and then   clog up in the rod eyes, around terminal tackle such as swivels, lures etc.   They only tend to be a problem while trolling...Not so bad when casting  , jigging, etc.

Just a luck of the draw sometimes on the Charters. Did you have fun is the most important question?

Water fleas.   They coat the line.  Can be bad at times or in a specific area.   Seems like mid summer is when they are worst.

Those are a pain to clear from the lines, but at least they do not effect the taste much on salmon.   I hate what they do to flavor of mild fish like walleye however, making the fillets take on the flavor of algae.  That, and the dismal (driftwood like) fight of the walleyes caught on trolling gear are the main reason I always switch from Erie to Ontario about now.   We can all see by the sweat on TF, that this is the time of the year when the kings are the strongest.

Good morning on Oneida.  Lost 5 eyes before landing one .   Was a tough start but got a limit and fishing buddy Corey got one too. Lol

Cornell was out on the lake doing a survey, asking what we were catching and what fish we kept.  Told him we had one white perch and he said they wished more people kept them.  Have done their survey a couple of years ago too and they said the same thing.

But was wondering why a boat was coming right up to us.  Makes you nervous for a minute.
