stubborn1VT
I'm glad somebody is. The updated forecast is looking less and less rainy here. It went from a whole week of rain, to more "hit or miss" T-storms and scattered showers. Any rain is better than none, but it doesn't look like any soaking rain for us. The 2nd cut is going to be scarce. My soybeans and little corn plot could sure use the moisture. I guess there's no use complaining about it. I just wish the clowns from "cloud college" hadn't gotten my hopes up.
stubborn1VT
I saw 3 hens and 10 poults earlier this morning. They weren't very big yet. Very light rain now. Better than nothing.
Lawdwaz
Up in Waterport, Orleans County since yesterday. It started raining last night and pretty much didn’t quit till 9am today. Sure is good to see a soaking rain like that. It was much needed.........

East of you, weather service is calling for flooding. Edited July 24, 2018 by landtracdeerhunter

Lots of moisture in the ground now, I just hope it holds up for a couple of weeks and we dont get another dry spell.
G-Man
more important is getting a few days overcast after it rains to let it soak in and be absorbed rather than burnt off in 90 degree heat
stubborn1VT
I think we've gotten .35" so far, and that seems like quite a bit. Hot today, but more thunder showers and heavy rain forecasted for the rest of the week. My garden looks a little less sad. I would like to see a couple inches of rainfall, but we will get what we get.
Bigfoot 327
We've recorded 4+ inches of rain in the last 5 days here in West central Tompkins. Heavy rain is in the forecast for today, tonight and tomorrow. I should have planted rice in my food plot instead of clover! LOL!

landtracdeerhunter
Still plenty dry, a few inches down. Started to work wheat land today. No saving the pumpkins, but the potatoes look good.
landtracdeerhunter
Another nice steady rain this morning. Looks like we plant this weekend. My potatoes are eating it up, so to speak.
stubborn1VT
I'm on the wrong side of the lake... We are supposed to get the better part of an inch of rain after lunch though.
Jeremy K
If this rain keeps up like this ,the salmon will come up the river early . We had a summer like this a few years back and my buddy and I both landed 4 salmon the first week of August, we got hot as all get out afterwards and never really had a run that year.

WNYBuckHunter
Had another 1/2" yesterday, was at 1/4" when I left the house today. We are going to need at least a few days of hot and dry between now and the end of next week or my plots are gonna be too wet to till lol. wolc123
Our 15' diameter pool has a 1" grid pattern on the inner liner. The water level looks like it is up an inch from today's rain. The 5:30 local news just showed our town got close to an inch, so I guess I can use that as a rain gauge. One thing is for sure anyhow, rain makes corn and corn makes venison. Just in the nick of time with that storm, as my corn was starting to look pretty thirsty. We should be eating good next year, thanks to that inch we got today. It sounds like there is more on the way. Even if we don't get that, I am very thankful to the Good Lord, for the inch He just gave us. That should be plenty to result in an adequate meat supply next year.
