Late decision to take a vacation day today. Hope my blinds are still there after all that wind last night!

Blinds are still here. Holy crap did I over dress! It’s 53 degrees and I dressed for 30’s. All sweated up.

Got light early.  4:45 and bright.  No roost gobbles yer.

Out for officially the last time. Love the nicer weather but it sure is buggy out. No gobbles yet. Crows nice and noisy so hopefully the inspire something. Here till 8 or 9, then work and close the day out with a drive to the beach to kickoff summer.

Got permission to hunt my neighbors property. Setup on the edge of one of his fields were i can still see pretty deep into the woods. No gobbles this a.m.

All still quiet here.   Odd that nobody has heard a gobble yet. Saw fox , deer , coon and fisher on way out.  Blue beacon of love

Been a weird year, between my 3 or 4 outings, I think ive heard less than a dozen gobbles. and most of them were from Tuesday around 10am..

I've had three deer hanging out around me within bow range for the last hour. Apparently scent control is not needed in the off season.

Settled in after getting the boys to school....my view for the morning.

My dad is on the other end of the property and just let me know on his way in he bumped a real nice buck. Said he was big bodied and sporting some real nice velvet already.

That made his morning already since we just hung a stand for him on that side to cover the lower section of grapes they like to use for cover.

My dad just had a big bird come in silent.........was real jerky and made a quick u turn and scooted. Not a single gobble.

We just bagged it. Maybe they would have opened up later but no need to burn out the kid as she can hunt Sunday and Monday too.

The biggest paintbrush I’ve ever shot was on the last day of May years ago. No sense giving up now. Continued good luck to those who are still at it.

Finally off from work and out this morning. Feels good to be out here again, hopefully a love sick bird will decide to cooperate.

Got busted by my target bird yesterday when I was trying to move in on him. Giving it a break this morning and then back out tomorrow and Monday.

Heading to blind with my future Turkey hunter.  no expectations but we have snacks.

I setup on my local tom and he gobbled just 5 or so times, flew down, and walked a long way up to a tilled field where he proceeded to strut in a group of geese. He’s done that a few days in a row now I think i can cut him off

I'm living vicariously through you guys till Wednesday. I'm in Baltimore for a free days, I checked out the Maryland DNR and apparently spring turkey season ended on may 23rd. Just my luck! Thought maybe I could sneak out in the mornings while the girls sleep in.
