Trial153
If you think whataboutism somehow softens or justifies what took place yesterday and has been incited by the president since before any ballots where cast, then I suggest some serious self introspection is in order. And I said the same about anyone justifying the looting and riots regardless of why they started the response was wrong.. In this case the president of the county has undermining the very institutions and premises it would founded on. and quite frankly I have watched over the last two years some Americans, some that I think highly of, act in cult like defense of the indefensible. Now you know what it looked like when Caesar crossed the Rubicon. Every american regardless of ideology and opinions need step up and defend the republic or you will in fact find yourself on the doorstep of dictatorship.

I do understand NY would have gone blue whether you voted for Trump or not, but by not voting or casting a wasted vote, you are part of the problem. Blame it all on Trump if you want, it may or may not make the next 4 years a little more tolerable, I guess that's your choice to make. I surely would have voted against Biden if anyone other than Trump was on the republican ticket. I tried hard to give Trump a chance in the previous 4 years but I simply could not cast my vote for him. The guy is a complete nutjob and the last few days have proved this more than ever. Maybe if the Dems weren't hell bent on defunding the Police and inciting riots in 2020 without any care to Joe public, this wouldn't have happened ? I condemn this riot, like I condemned all of the riots, it's just that it's hard to take the left's hard stance on it now, when they were praising their rioters last year, even bailing them out of jail and chastising police for arresting rioters.

There were tens of thousands of Americans of all backgrounds there peacefully protesting for hours before the riot happened. Some of those same lawmakers were the ones bailing out the rioters of last year, So what about that ? I guess we'll selectively forget those past transgressions and focus on the now ? Some people look at the big picture, some don't. Most people I talked to (I don't know you so I won't profile) that were pro-Biden really couldn't explain why they wanted a senile, corrupt, career politician as our president. The only answer I got every time was they didn't want Trump because "he's rude" or "he's not nice to women". Nobody seemed to care that all the troops were home, ISIS was a memory, the economy had gotten much stronger (before Corona was launched on us), or that the truly evil countries weren't flexing their muscles like they did when Obama was at the helm. So, they voted for corruption. They voted for socialism & higher taxes. They voted for more liberal programs & the national debt to go with it. They voted for a weak government & leader that will back down when the going gets tough. And worst of all, hunters & gun owners voted against their own best interests. And when it looked like things weren't going their way, the election results were kept hidden from us until they somehow turned in their favor. I can't feel sorry for anyone when the full realization of what has actually happened to this country fully blossoms. All I can say is "Don't Blame Me, I Voted for Trump".

Here in lies the problem, by making the statement that you just made you are promoting and supporting a hierarchy of citizenship. You're saying that elected members of congress ( a position that used to be a service position for your country, not a career) are more important than the "common" citizen. This is the real issue for both sides, no one should be held to higher "value" than another. With you being "okay" with leftist protestors/rioters destroying businesses, homes, monuments, state and federal infrastructure, but now saying its an issue since it's protestors/rioters on the right shows your hypocrisy.

Trial153
So, tell me Mr. Wizard, what bright beacons of hope do you forecast with a Biden/Harris presidency & a completely Democratic congress? At this point in time, which for me a is commulaition of seeing both these parties act and govern poorly over the last 43 of my existence not much. I am hopeful that some semblance of commonality can start to be reestablished. For example after watching the debate on the Senate floor for 4 hours last night one can take away that there are still a lot of people that believe in the people and institutions that this county is built upon. Policy wise, I will have issues and disagreements with this incoming administration just like have with every previous one.
