Robhuntandfish
Ever watch this show, it's fairly new. I hate winter but Florida...no thanks. Tourism prob went down 50% just cause of this show. Lol. Amazing how many they find and how they have been able to reproduce so quickly. I wasn't a big fan of the gator show they had but this one was pretty good.
Nomad
I watch that show, but like all reality shows, well it’s a show . They do hire snake hunters and the pay can be good , but you don’t catch them with your hands like on the show, they shoot them . I read about one guy who carries a 12ga, 9mm and .22mag, plus big knives .... Fun show though . Edited January 30, 2021 by Nomad
ny hunter
Saw it the other night... I like the gators more....
grampy
Having spent a number of my younger years living in Florida and SC, I got used to the snakes and gators. Actually found them to be quite interesting. Just took them all in stride while hunting and fishing. But never did adjust to all the darn bugs down there!!!
Swamp_bucks
We watch it. The funny part is my wife can be in a middle of a task and cant help but sit down and watch them chase critters.
Robhuntandfish
I would def be shooting them with the judge. Catching them is for sure for the show of it. They get bit a few times and it's got to hurt a bit. Just hard to believe there is so many and the size of them. Most are 9-11 ft long. And weigh like 80 pounds. greg54
There are iguanas all over the place in southern Florida. They shoot them in yards with air rifles.

G-Man
I liked it but though ,boy they should just use a snake pole like everyone else to grab their head. Need to watch a few steve Irwin shows I guess
helmut in the bush
Those snakes look big enough to put a pretty good squeeze on you, I'd use a stick or just shoot them. You could make something cool out of the skin.

Open up their wallets more and hire more local expert hunters who know their areas better then anyone. The areas where the pythons are include vast expanses of uninhabited swamp including the Everglades. You could have the entire US Army there hunting pythons and it wouldn't eradicate them. Hunting is not going to get it done. That being said I agree with you that they need to get a better handle on it. As the pythons move North they will leave that habitat and be more vulnerable to hunting. I Winter in central Florida about 4 hours North of the Pythons. I don't think they will do to well this far North, we have had 5 frosts already this year.

bugsNbows
I lived in Florida for 42 years. Retired and moved to north Ga a couple of years ago. The critters are NBD. Probably the most aggravating to me were the love bugs. PITA.
Robhuntandfish
After 14" of snow and fighting it all day the snakes don't seem so bad. For today anyway ... 2

bugsNbows
I can say from experience that gators love dogs in and around the water. Easy dinner.
Robhuntandfish
I went to visit my folks in Florida years back. Took a fishpole of course. The lake they lived on had bass so figured I would try it. Got my pole and they said "just keep an eye out, there are Gators in there.". So walk over a little knoll behind their house and here dives two big Gators into the lake....nope. no fishing . Did have a great time fishing the ocean beaches there though.

LET EM GROW
I enjoy the show, its not bad, not great. Better than most all other shows in TV .. But again.. its TV and the majority is not real life.. got to make it look good.. but when nothing else is on.. ill most certainly watch this.. nyslowhand
Pretty sure the Florida Dept of NR realizes they will never eradicate the python infestation. A Burmese Python can lay up to 100 eggs annually. They put rabbits, cats, feral pigs, etc to shame in the reproduction department.

Bigfoot 327
"Central Florida" means different things to different people. Kinda like some people think Westchester county is upstate NY. This article appeared in the Miami Herald. They believe anything North of them is "central" Florida or "Northern" Florida. Most folks in Orlando think that they live in central Florida, Zolfo Springs is about an hour South of there.........
