  8. Bolts enter fast and melt the foam to them in many 3 d deer targets and others made from same materials. Wd 40, wax, oil , all reduce the friction on carbon shafts, metal seems to dissapate the heat from friction better and don't stick. I've found compressed cardboard works well with carbon shafts . And perhaps putting a few layers in front of a block target will reduce speed enough to prevent melting.. I'll have to try that myself..o goody a new experiment

  9. This was the highlight of my last day. After the big gust of wind a squirrel falls out of the tree, (He forgot his gloves.) then he pays me a visit. He was about a foot above my head. "Don't jump on me!!!" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NI95EUqQtDc&feature=youtu.be

  11. Lol you're killing me..we've done this whole typing ....not getting to edit in time and doing several things at once..and writing style on the internet....you as I said are a piece of work. When you can actually address points made by people instead of talking all around them...inserting diluted versions of what they said to try and prove your point. Then perhaps your.... I'm a 31 yr old with a "senior leadership" position would hold at least some of the impressiveness that you desperately desire it to...

  13. just about any shotgun out there with the proper choke and shotshell combination will kill birds out to 40 yards. with a turkey gun set up its crucial that you get a shotgun that fits you. unlike wing shooting where you are more or less pointing and following through, with a turkey gun you are aiming at a specific spot and trying to put the heaviest amount of the payload in a softball sized target area. if you are set on the nova and it fits you then thats the gun you should buy, do the barrel work to it, put some type of sight system on it and try a few aftermarket chokes to find the one that throws the best pattern. comp-n-choke would be a first choice as they seem to have a good handle on producing tight patterns for turkey loads. no matter what gun you choose get it on the pattern board and see what it will do at set yardages so you know your maximum range which for general acceptable distance in the turkey hunting fraternity is 40 yards. can you kill them over 40? yes, but your chances of wounding and loosing them increases dramatically over 40 yards. when you are done on the pattern board you should have 10% confidence in your gun and your ability to kill a turkey out to X number of yards. When that crucial moment is at your feet and he is in range there should be no issue with your confidence before you squeeze the trigger. As far as camo goes, it really doesn't matter what design it is as long as its not shiny. I painted my 835 30 years ago and its never been an issue with a bird seeing it even when they are within a few feet of me. good camo head to toe and no movement will allow these keen eyesighted yet wary birds to walk so close to you that you could touch them....... don't grab their legs whatever you do no matter how tempting or good of idea it seems at the time.

  14. Look into the Mossberg 835 (pump action) and the 935 (semi). The 835 runs around 550 and the 935 is around 650 or so. Both great turkey rigs…. 22 - 24" , back bored ported barrels with a few different camo choices. Both take up to a 3 1/2" shell. I have been using an 835 since the early 90's and love it. It has dumped a pile of Toms. Awesome patterns with 3 1/2" #4 0r #5. But then again everyone has their favorites.

  17. i bought a supernova mostly for turkey. it is a reliable pump with features i liked; coating, magazine button, comfortech stock, big trigger guard, etc. didn't get steady grip so i can use it for other things, but for a dedicated turkey gun steady grip is good. it also has a slogan outdoors ultraflex sling that's pulled tight to the stock for little movement but still able to sling over your shoulder without adjustment do to the stretch. also for better aiming close in and for slight changes in POI for different loads I've got a Burris Speed bead reflex red dot mounted between the butt stock and receiver. oh yea camo is Realtree advantage timber. You always hear people say their guns pattern well but they leave out some details. this is what I'm using and getting now: 132 pellets in the head and neck of a standard HS Turkey head patterning target at 35 yards. There's also 77 pellets on the left half and 75 on the right half of the 11"x11" target that was portions of the pattern that didn't hit the bird. I'm shooting 1 3/4 oz of #6 hevi-13 shot 3", from the 12ga Supernova with a Pure Gold ported turkey choke. So that's 37% percent in the head and neck. 78% on an 11" x11" paper target. like i said at 35 yards.

  22. The problem I have with the entire mindset is defining term like "better". It is subjective and what you view as better hunting will be different to about everyone on this forum and probably about every hunter in the state.

  27. I use the Rag Bag Target for fieldpoints. Simple 2 finger removal! Buy the bag ($18-$25 depending on where you buy it), stuff it with old clothes, and have at it! Don't know what the bag itself is made of, but it has a lifetime warranty. If a spot starts getting soft, just shuffle the clothes around inside, repack, and you're good to go! http://www.thirdhandarchery.com/product.asp?PRODID=9 This video is boring, but skip towards the end to see the easy bolt removal.

Also told her once (as a joke) "You know this marriage thing is sort of like a hot bath, after you're in it a while it's not so hot ! She lol at that one. (45 yrs. & still together I tell her it will never last)

  33. I wonder how many of the 3% of scientists that deny climate change (caused by human activity) are on the Koch brothers' payroll? Natural climate change occurs over several 1000s of years, not a few decades. Hardly any galciers in Glacier National Park, polar ice meting @ record rates, unusually warm winters in Alaska & Siberia? All, of these are just coincidence? That being said, I think wood stove are not a signicant contributor as long as everyone, including city dwellers, doesn't start using them. I do support local ordinances banning outdoor boilers when they impact neighbors. Most do not have tall enough chimneys to create sufficeint draft to put the smoke very far above ground level. Any regulations on wood stoves should take local population densities into account.

  35. When I was ready to pay for my purchases of gun powder and bullets, the cashier said, “Strip down, facing me.” Making a mental note to complain to the NRA about the gun control wackos running amok, I did just as she had instructed. When the hysterical shrieking and alarms finally subsided, I found out that she was referring to how I should place my credit card in the card reader. I have been asked to shop elsewhere in the future. They need to make their instructions to seniors a little clearer….. Note to Mr VJP ---- It's a joke !

  36. I took a massive dump and took a picture of it with my phone. I then stood in front of my wife staring at my phone with a puzzle look and then said "Man, this looks like crap." Knowing my nosy wife would take the bait, she said "What does? Let me see!" and took the phone from me to look.

  40. LOL.. I refuse to even entertain a conversation with someone that gives any credence to the global warming farce. As far as I can tell environmental engineers spend all of their careers searching for any "environmental crisis" that might help justify the unnecessary need for environmental engineers.
