I do a lot of fishing and I eat a lot of fresh fish... When we started dating I was feeding her so much fish I was worried that she might turn into one... I had to check her tail now and then to see if she was growing scales...4 points

And the Panthers are in it! Been a fan since their beginning in the league. Not a big Cam fan as I don't really care for all the over the top showboating. But I do respect his athletic abilities. As a team, they are playing at the highest level. The Bronco's have a great defense, but I don't know if Manning can do enough on offense at this stage of his career. We will see. No matter who wins, during the game, I'll be drinking a couple beers, eating pizza and wings with family and friends, so I'll be a happy grampy!3 points

It was damn cold out there this morning but we went after em. Long story short, we kicked up two, had no shots at the first one and two of us missed the second one. We tried to get one for the dog, but no success this time. Chance did a good job and did get on the fresh tracks a yelping. Maybe next weekend. 4 miles in the books today. Here is a pic of Chance curled up on the ride home.3 points

Ok, with much difficulty, I think I got the gist of this post. And, I believe that I might even agree with it. However at the risk of being called the "spelling and grammar police", I have to say that a little time re-reading some of these posts probably would have avoided a lot of head-scratching. Seriously, I got totally lost a few times as I struggled more with the wording than the topic. I still have not figured out what the thought was when the word "dump" was thrown in to several sentences. What the hell does that mean? I am not trying to claim perfection in the English language, but I do try to make my posts readable. And I do that by re-reading the message before poking the "Post" button and fixing some of the glaring confusion.3 points

I thought it would be neat to show the steps that go into mounting a deer head. This will only be my second solo mount attempt ever. The first one still needs a few finishing items to complete it. I prepared the cape (fleshing, pickling, shaving and tanning) for this mount myself too. Here's a sneak peek. In order to get the cape to fit I had to make some slight alterations to the form. Looks like it will come together nicely!!!2 points

Too bad you aren't near broome county or Id be PM'ing you to try and do a couple hunts together. I have a FoxPro Crossfire and all the lights and hunt predators 2-4x a week. I think the same way you do. Whether I'm the shooter or the light runner, I just like to work on my calling and have people to go with. Good luck to you, sir2 points

Interesting subject. And to be quite honest, as I read this posting, a smile crosses my face. I'm actually seeing a partial transformation of public opinion on the use of the crossbow. A lot of the compound bow hunters that were diametrically opposed to the use of crossbows during archery season have come full circle in their opinions of crossbow use in the archery season. Apparently, us crossbow users are less of an intrusion on their god given right to have the public hunting lands to themselves. It took the possibility of opening part of archery season to muzzleloader. Apparently, to some of the compound bow hunters, the thought of sharing the woods with a gun user, from a noise and safety perspective, is less favorable than with with a crossbow hunter. Well as someone that has owned an archery tag for in excess of thirty years. I didn't appreciate the fact that my ability to continue to hunt, when I found it necessary to change from a compound to crossbow, met with resistance from the compound acher community. So much so, that the state of New York decided my Xbox was to be considered a gun during the first part of the archery season then miraculously becomes an archery tool for the latter part of the season. It's almost worth tolerating gun hunters during my archery season(payback), but I hunt private land.2 points

Happy for you grampy. Two number 1 seeds should make for a good game. If I were a Panther fan , I would be worried about the Bronco's pass rush. They destroyed Brady yesterday.2 points

BSH- That may be a spot (or somewhere nearby) to check out for sheds. All that pushing and shoving might just loosen up some antlers, or knock them off right there. Wouldn't it be great if you got a picture showing one of the antlers flying off ....Lol. One in a million odds, but it sure would be a great picture.2 points

Maybe so, but I have seen no evidence of rutting in this area (bucks trailing does, flehmening, lockdown, etc.) Buck sparring is simply bachelor group pecking order establishment and challenge. Interesting that often there is a spike buck, or a yearling toady, that is close too, sometimes even locking horns with its bigger brothers at the same time. A couple more photos of the skirmish.2 points

Hello all. I posted last year with no takers, but I am looking for new ground and new hunting friends. I've been after dogs for a long time and I ha e the equipment to help. Upgraded the FoxPro last year, have decoys, etc. If you have a spot you hear dogs and don't know how to go about it, pm me and lets get a plan to put some fur on the ground. I'm up for anything. I can call for you or run the lights, whatever you want ! Let's get some fawn killers in the dirt !1 point

In 1998 I harvested and nice 10 point. One thing that stood out was the this buck had a mane. While I've seen a few other mounts with manes (maybe 1 in 20), I haven't seen any as prominent. It sometimes shows as a mound of darker hair. Here's a close up. Almost like a brush along the back of the neck. A step back for size perspective. Is this uncommon? Has anyone else seen deer like this?1 point

Ive had Dartons, Bowtechs, Matthews, and Elites. I liked them all except the Matthews, I just couldnt get used to that grip. The reason I like the Elites so much is that the other manufacturers have all gone to these super overstressed looking speed bows that IMO have very little forgiveness. To the average hunter/shooter that speed is a detriment. Any little flaw in your form is exaggerated down range1 point

Let's not assume that the warm weather was the reason that harvests were down. It may or may not be the case, but I have not seen any credible proof that deer react any differently in weather that is 3 or 4 degrees warmer than normal. Lets face whatever temperature records that have been broken were only broken by a couple of degrees, and on only a few days, so lets keep all this stuff in relative perspective. Were those couple of degrees enough to drive the feeding and the rut and daytime movements into a nocturnal state like we have never seen before? Maybe, but I doubt it. I have done plenty of bowhunting in my short sleeved shirts many years. Also, I am reminded of all the states that are south of us with a whole lot warmer temperatures than we have ever seen here. Do they have to hunt only at night because all the deer are waiting until then to move about?.....No.1 point

That is a question that I have been wondering about. The answer will come from the details of the proposal in terms of what the taker is allowed to do with the hide after collection of the bounty. If they are able to claim the bounty and also sell the hide then in affect they will receive $50 for each coyote, which would double the incentive. If the state takes possession of the hide, then they better tack on something more than initially proposed if they want to motivate any new hunters. But again, it all depends on the details, which may put me into the "Not in favor" column. It has to incent hunters to get out there or save your money, PA.1 point

I'll be dipped.........I bought mine on the 2nd day of gun season 1999, oddly. I walked in and Roy says "what the heck are YOU doing here?" LOL...I told him I was done with the recurve and longbow, wounded too many and just didn't have the time to practice as much as I needed to. It was about 12-13 years with the traditional gear, I killed a fair amount of deer with it but at that point I owed it to the animals to get my shiit together. Speed & hand shock +11 point

If you fish & turkey hunt, pay the difference ($230) between the Hunting and Sportsmans and upgrade to the Sportsmans License. If you don't have the money to buy the ML'r and Archery Lifetime Licenses, don't sweat it. You can do that at any point, just make sure you keep an eye on the system and watch for a upcoming price increase. Even with the Sportsman License, you need to buy a archery/muzzle loader tag to use those weapons. Congratulation on a wonderful score!! I don't discriminate on who I meet on the field, I wish it was the case sometimes, but it doesn't happen that way. My statement still stands, I've yet to meet a hunter on the field that wouldn't shoot a coyote. X-Calibur Lighting Systems http://facebook.com/XCaliburLightingSystems1 point

I do more than just gripe about it, Bubba. That's why I'm on a couple of 'lists'.1 point

Quote: "I've yet to meet a hunter on the field that didn't want to shoot a coyote, anytime, anywhere it's legal." And yet 99.9% of hunters will only shoot one as a target of opportunity. They do not hit the field ever with coyotes as the primary target. Longer seasons and/or bounties will not change this or increase overall kill in a statistically significant amount.1 point

This is a must read piece by Chas. Krauthammer. The Clintons should both be in prison. She is not fit to run for POTUS Recently, Charles Krauthammer alluded that he had no doubt some of the 30k emails Hillary deleted from her private e-mail server very likely had references to the Clinton Foundation, which would be illegal and a conflict of interest. The Clinton Foundation is "organized crime" at its finest . Here is a good, concise summary of how the Clinton Foundation works as a tax free international money laundering scheme. It may eventually prove to be the largest political criminal enterprise in U.S. history. This is a textbook case on how you hide foreign money sent to you repackage it to be used for your own purposes. All tax free. Here's how it works: 1. You create a separate foreign "charity." In this case, the Clinton's set it up in Canada. 2 Foreign oligarchs and governments, then donate to this Canadian charity. In this case, over 1,000 did contributing mega millions. I'm sure they did this out of the goodness of their hearts, and expected nothing in return (Imagine Putin's buddies waking up one morning and just deciding to send untold millions to a Canadian charity). 3. The Canadian charity then bundles these separate donations and makes a massive donation to the Clinton Foundation. 4. The Clinton Foundation and the cooperating Canadian charity claim Canadian law prohibits the identification of individual donors. 5. The Clinton Foundation then "spends" some of this money for legitimate good works programs. Unfortunately, experts believe this is on the order of 10%. Much of the balance goes to enrich the Clinton's, pay salaries to untold numbers of hangers on, and fund lavish travel, etc. Again, virtually all tax free, which means you and I re subsidizing it. 6. The Clinton Foundation, with access to the world's best accountants, somehow fails to report much of this on their tax filings. They discover these "clerical errors" and begin the process of re-filing 5 years of tax returns. 7. Net result -- foreign money goes into the Clinton's pockets tax free and untraceable back to the original donor. This is the textbook definition of money laundering. Oh, by the way, the Canadian "charity" includes as a principal one Frank Giustra. Google him. He is the guy who was central to the formation of Uranium One, the Canadian company that somehow acquired massive U.S. uranium interests and then sold them to an organization controlled by Russia. This transaction required U.S. State Department approval, and guess who was Secretary of State when the approval was granted. As an aside, imagine how former Virginia Governor Bob McDonnell feels. That poor schlep is in jail because he and his wife took $165,000 in gifts and loans for doing minor favors for a guy promoting a vitamin company. Not legal but not exactly putting U.S. security at risk. Sarcasm aside, if you're still not persuaded this was a cleverly structured way to get unidentified foreign money to the Clinton's, ask yourself this: Why did these foreign interests funnel money through a Canadian charity? Why not donate directly to the Clinton Foundation? Better yet, why not donate money directly to the people, organizations and countries in need? This is the essence of money laundering and influence peddling. Now you know why Hillary's destruction of 30,000 e-mails was a risk she was willing to take. Bill and Hillary are devious, unprincipled, dishonest and criminal, and they are Slick! Warning: They could be back in the White House in January 2017. Don't let it happen. Remember, most people are not well informed. You must inform and educate them.1 point
