Shot a pile of big game now and running out of taxidermy space so always looking for ideas.... Turning the tail of a Gemsbok into a fly swish with a handle in the style of the locals.... Like this; Just got it back from tannery on Friday along with some other misc skins that need projects.... May make horns into a set of wall sconces if another idea doesn't work out.3 points

That has been my experience too..Several years ago I shot a big male coyote while hunting spring gobblers in Ontario. On the properties I hunt up there, it is a condition of getting permission to hunt..You agree to shoot every coyote you see. I did not want to deal with crossing the border with the pelt, so I just dragged the 'yote back into the juniper bush near my blind. The next year I put a blind back in the same place...The skeletal remains lay right where I had left the carcass. I swear nothing had touched a single bone. The skull was relatively clean, so I smuggled it back home with me. One of my buddies who does skulls/Euro mounts cleaned it up for me and it sits on my mantle now. An observation from viewing the skeleton..Copper plated #6 shot WILL penetrate a large coyote's skull AND shoulder blade, at least at a range of 15-20 yards..3 points

Harvest the toes and a leg bone and make a Hoof Rattle. I saw one in a museum as Indian artifact and I thought why not. I had no other purpose for those parts so here's the results. Unusual and cool. Deer leg bone, hooves and rawhide.3 points

The correct answer is.... A bottle of champagne ! If you pick a state like Tenn. with no state tax and a really low property tax one can buy many things . My sister pays 20k in property taxes up here , her sons house outside of Nashville is larger and he pays 2K .3 points

I think that most gun control advocates see the problem purely as being the gun, and fail to make the connection to the person pulling the trigger. The guy who said that they wanted to learn how to shoot, but had no interest in owning a "gun", clearly shows a dissociation between the gun and the shooter. To that one, the gun all by itself is evil, even when it is sitting locked up with no one around it. And then there was the other one who does not condone firearms for self defense. Those people apparently don't realize that when seconds count in life threatening situations, the police are just minutes away. In other words they believe that government law enforcement agencies are actually going to save your live if you just wait for them to arrive. The fact is that such confrontations are so frightening to consider that they simply have blocked reality right out of their minds. I don't know how you combat such irrational thinking as that. I guess you simply can't.3 points

"Those who would give up essential liberty, to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety." -- Benjamin Franklin If the FBI is actually incapable of retrieving information from this phone, maybe they should focus more on not letting these a***oles into our country to begin with. A thorough investigation of the Obama/Jarret agenda would likely obviate the need for trying to screw with The People in a Free-market economy.2 points

They are into their breeding season now. Try using mostly coyote vocals, call less, and watch more. Try male and female long howls, female submissive, etc. With that, stay on stand longer. like a minimum of 45 min. Don't expect them to react to you much, most likely they will just come in quiet. As far as the original post, I have been out a TON the past 3 weeks but have targeted mostly "fox only" spots close to development to get as many as possible before the season ended. We did get into some coyotes two weeks ago and exchanged some howls and stuff but I think I got a little too aggressive when I heard what I thought to be a challenge and they backed off. Live and learn..... I'll be going a lot until the season ends, I will try to give updates on how it's going.2 points

They should not ignore it but they should follow the process to appeal it. I for one don't have anything to hide and still load custom roms on my phones to avoid as much government and Google tracking as I can. If it doesn't do anything it at least makes me feel better. If I built a homemade PC and installed windows on it and set it so if you entered the password too many times it exploded Microsoft wouldn't be called in to hack my system. Terrorism or not some people just don't want the govt in their stuff. The FBI should be using their own resources and if they can't do it move on or hire better people.2 points

One day im cruzing out of town in a 40mph zone before it turns 55 and I see a 94 ish camero z28 a little ways ahead of me so I get behing him leaving it in 3rd gear not sure if he wants to race but im ready, well he hammered it as soon as we hit the straight away, foot to the floor all the way into 5th gear and then let off it. I stuck to his bumper the whole time, camero's had 350's under the hood, i just had the ole' 5.0 with some minor mods. At the next stop sign he got out walked back asked me out of amazement what did to my engine to keep up with him, I said different exhaust. That's why I've always been a mustang guy.2 points

Another nut job being stupid. If the USA would make a universal law that the punishment for murder in cold blood is the death penalty no questions asked, I think crimes like this would go down by a pretty large percentage. IMO that is.2 points

Just tried the Vanilla Porter. Interesting beer. Had a slight caramel taste at first and then a slight coffee flavor and finally a hint of Vanilla. Almost tasted flat. I would like to try another brand before I form a love it or hate it opinion. It wasn't awful but it wasn't great. I'll look for the one you suggested TF. Thanks for the advice.2 points

A plastic squirt-gun with ammonia was a pretty good self-defense tool when I was a kid running a trapline or a paper route. I carried one well into adult-hood to keep dogs away from my motorcycle as well. Does anyone even sell squirt-guns anymore in NYS?1 point

Totally agree it scares the unholy hell out of me the direction things are moving and the changes just in my lifetime. I try my best to hold out hope that some rational human being will quit focusing on one or two "small" specifics and look at the big picture. All these gun laws have an impact greater than just what the average law abiding gun owner sees how it affects them. Look at all the gun and ammo related business that would be affected with these laws. It's insane to think politicians would be willing to do such massive damage to our economy. I'm not trying in any way to make light the affects these proposed gun laws would have on the safety of our population. It's one thing to see how they would affect 30,000 people per year directly affected by gun related crime... but imagine how the close of hundreds if not thousands of businesses employing tens if not hundreds of thousands of employees would have near collapse scale effects on our economy. Just the Remington plant in Ilion had a massive impact on the local economy. Imagine handfuls of that in each state across the country all within a short period of time. I think i am talking myself into a nightmare1 point

That is a very basic generalization which may indeed be true, but then again perhaps the first gentleman didn't want to own a gun because he had young children. Perhaps he felt he lacked the education or experience to safely and ethically have a weapon. Perhaps he just didn't want one for no other reason than not wanting one. It's very easy to generalize because a lot of it is true, but if you don't ask them why, you will never know the truth. That is a flaw on both sides of this argument... many 2a supporters use 'anti-gun" generalizations such not wanting to own a gun means they think the gun is evil. Many anti-gun people make the generalization that they won't save your life because they read an article about gun carriers being shot or having their weapons taken from them. It's actually difficult not to work with generalizations because they are prompted by emotion and opinion, but just like stereotypes... they exist because often they are true. 2A can support their position with a myriad of honest to goodness facts based on both research and observation, while anti-gun supporters can do the same. How does this happen you may ask? Because besides "facts", our observations, except direct personal observation, are based on media bias we choose to follow. The left reports gun crimes of their preference while the right does the same. Ultimately in the situation the OP presented I would just hope that no matter what position you take regarding gun ownership... I hope they are never in a position to need a weapon for self defense... and if they ever are in that situation... that some sane gun owner and carrier is willing to accept the non carriers position and save him anyway despite their idealistic views1 point

1 is one to many. To often in the protection of a group or fraction we wait to long. Imagine if Germany would of untied when the 1st Jew was dragged off? I don't buy into conspiracy theory's but we are dealing with people who's beliefs are very clear. Its like saying the KKK don't hate all African Americans and they hung only one. Its time for any non Muslim to serious think about the issues ahead of us as a nation.1 point

Those are most likely sanctioned by the AMA (Academy of Model Aeronautics) They are a voluntary member ship nationwide organization that provide $1,500,0000.00 liability insurance when you fly from one of those fields. They are also active in lobbying when there are possible legislative issues. The current craze of easy to master multi-rotor aircraft is causing a lot of problems in that arena. My daughter lives here in Rochester her boyfriend is in med school in NYC, she goes from a treestand here one day to a Broadway play the next, although seeking out the better pastry shops is more her thing in NYC. That's a nice life. I'm a woods guy, but I'm happy to say I've been to Peter Lugars, McSorleys,Carmine's ,top of the Empire State Building , Ground Zero, Ten House, cruised on FDNY's fire boat, and walked across the Brooklyn Bridge ( passed on the chance to buy it ) and many other places in NYC. It's a great place to take a family around Christmas as well . Oh and I slept on a couch in Park Slope that Levon Helms crashed on when he was in town. No not at the same time......1 point

I generally have an issue with how the DEC interpolates harvest data or their infamous public surveys and propose regulations via them. But the 2015 stats from the doe-only areas were an "eye opener" for the DEC. Glad they showed a little humility and realized they were wrong after only the 1st year! They also mentioned in the NYON article(s) that they like to keep new regulations in place a min of 2yrs simply to get a better idea if or how they're working. On the other issue of ARs, did think the DEC taking the middle road of "no action" was somewhat disturbing and basically a cop-out. Would have thought the majority of deer hunters that wanted the decision left in their own hands as to what buck to take might have shown them the squeaky wheel (trophy hunters) that lobbied for ARs initially were in the minority..Bewildering!??!1 point
