While I wish I was up in the woods at the cabin with my old man... I did have a nice relaxing night on the Island with the kids and wife after a long work week. Was sipping some scotch while enjoying my fire pit... Would much prefer my 10x10 pit at my dads but hey.. is what it is.8 points

Got a message from Jeremy earlier. Says I will have a package on Monday. Going to locate the small box with broad-heads, my release, sight, and field points. Dig out my last target as well. Might take it to a shop to have everything dialed in and tuned up. I think he said the draw weight was set at 65#'s or 70#'s with a 27 1/2" draw length. Need a few adjustment's on those to fit me better. Max practice yardage will be between 15-20 yards. I have close to 32 yards, but I don't want to push my luck shooting to close to the driveway. Looking forward to getting more used to a release vs fingers which I always shot in the past.3 points

Took a little stroll in the woods that surround the mobile home park. Figured before I ask permission I would have a peek. Pretty think in some areas, I left them alone, but did find a few piles of deer droppings and what look some some decent runs. Will be sending the owner a text tomorrow to get info on how far his land goes and ask permission to hunt. Definitely not enough room for gun, but plenty for a bow.3 points

Btw I went to bullseye this morning and even though they were busy setting up they spent a little time to set me up with my bow and give me some pointers. I now shoot with a release instead of my fingers and am comfortable at 20 or so yards without my arrows swerving instead of swerving at 153 points

For awhile now I've wanted to build a fixture ,kind of an all in one type deal to check spine ,cut to length and check straightness. I really don't have a ton of time to work on it these days but I will add pictures as I go. The next step is to build the weight that hangs from the arrow and make a mount for the dial indicator to attach to.2 points

If I have this wrong...the DEC.wanting to increase harvests and opportunities is: 1. Allowing the youth hunters to use cross bows during the youth hunt? Yet not expanding seniors participation in bow season by allowing them to use cross bows, yet they are the one that spent their hunting careers,as it were, funding the DEC in license sales'.....hmmmm 2. Rescinding the 2wks doe only in "over run areas" but not doing any thing to increase kills By giving out those extra tags early,or allowing cross bows into all of archery, with bow hunter ed course as a mandatory thing. ( don't argue I won't change my mind) So this is what I'm seeing right? Such progress, for all the $ they spend on survey's , studies etc, etc. They really addressed what hunters have said to them....2 points

You actually are A Grandparent..At Sam's today and a young woman with a 5 yr. old little boy pass me a few times. I smile at him and says Hi. ..He stares at me every time. Then I round the freezer isle and there they are. He points at me and starts yelling, I'm the only person around," Mommy,Mommy!!,That lady has NANA' s face!" Well I just laugh out loud. His eyes get as big as ping pong balls and he grabs his mom's shirt yanking on it . Then yells "She has her voice too!" Hahaha...how life roles change....2 points

I planted an acre this morning.....75 pounds of seed, 150 pounds of 15-15-15...Broadcast the seed and fertilizer with my buddy's ATV broadcaster and then did a light discing to work it in.. I am currently praying for rain for prompt germination... IF we get some rain soon, and IF we get a "reasonable" amount of rain, and IF we don't get an early frost, I may have mature grain by the end of September. Other wise, I still hope to have enough high nutrition greens to benefit the deer, plus improving the soil in that plot for whatever I decide to plant there next year.1 point

Wild hog roast, mashed potatoes, garlic broccoli, and applesauce. Before and after. Heading up to Lake Ontario tomorrow, hate to leave Momma & the kiddies without something to eat, so I made a tray of stuffed peppers, they just have to put them in the oven at 350 for 1 3/4 hours. Weather looks good, and so do the fishing reports this year. Fingers crossed!1 point

As a owner of a Benneli R1 "top 5 ugliest rifles of all time" I have to say that is one ugly rifle. But it looks very functional. I would opt for the 7.62x39 if deer hunting is on its agenda. That sucker is a sweet Carbine with the barrel cut down to 16.25"s and it's only 5.25lb's that's a gun from my own heart! I'm currently googling if there is a 35cal wildcat based on 7.62x39. Ha , I ordered the Shipyard and told our server I'd like to have the cheaper one as I noticed it too. He comes back to tell me it's kicked. I then said I'd drink the more expensive one full well knowing double listing was error. So Troegs Hopknife was the replacement and opted for that.1 point
