  1. My buddy and I had one of those perfect Mornings. We went in a newish spot just to listen and a longbeard lights up practically right above us. We watched him gobble and swivel for 15-20 minutes and then BOOM the another one gobbles and he’s just off to our right. They both fly down into the field behind us and he smokes one, real nice bird close to 1.5” spurs. Naturally they’re on his side of the tree and I’m closed out lol. All the while another bird is gobbling down in a ravine so I started calling to him and he cut me off a couple times. I can hear hens cutting at him as well. He came right in with a couple jakes in tow and I took him at 35-40 yards. Two year old with a nice beard. There were at least two more birds gobbling even as we were leaving Back home before the kids got the bus! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

  3. I heard a few different birds gobbling before day break. I set up a decoy and moved back about 25 yards and settled in. As it began to get light out , I made a few soft tree yelps and followed it up with one fly down cackle. As I sat there , I started watching a few deer walking around. The next thing I know , I got 7 gobblers running towards my decoy. They were on top of me so fast , I couldn't raise my gun up. Finally I said to myself "screw it" and ever so slowly I raised up my gun , took aim and fired. He never knew what hit him. Those Hevi Shot 6"s are very impressive and blew half his feathers off. Tale of the tape : 19 pounds , 10" beard , 1" spurs and one funky toenail. (time & date are off)

  9. Got lucky this morning. Second year in a row I bagged a gobbler by sitting in the same chair in the same ground blind and waiting. Never saw or heard anything until 8:10 a.m. Then they got fired up I believe due to it warming up with the sun. He ran up to my decoys after a couple of short low calls. 9" beard, 1" spurs. Patience is not only a virtue, it is a producer. valoroutdoors.com

  10. Text book hunt in the books!! First time in quite a while I scored on opening day!!! Time of shot, 6:20am, approx. distance 35-40 yards. Heard two sound off quite a distance away, but couldn't hunt that piece of land. Got closer, set up and started calling. Two gobblers came in after about 15-20 minutes, took the strutter in back!!! 21 lbs., 8" beard, 3/4" spurs. One down, one more to go!!!

  15. Good luck everyone. I sat on the deck drinking some beers after dinner and heard gobbles in every direction. Not sure where I’ll head in the morning but I’ll probably head towards the 4yr old’s gobble “bill reference” but seriously bird behind the house sounds like an old boy I’ll probably chase him until I can lay on eyes on him. Be safe and keep your head down until you see em flopping! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  26. Didn't see this posted, delete if a duplicate.... Ammunition giant Hornady is cutting off government buyers in New York over an order by New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo to financial services companies regarding gun politics. Steve Hornady, the company’s president of manufacturing, announced on social media on Friday that the ammo maker will halt sales of their products to Cuomo’s state government or agencies in the Empire State. The move comes after an order directed by Cuomo earlier last month that cautioned banks, insurance companies and lenders against involvement with the National Rifle Association and similar organizations. Slamming the Governor’s move as one of the most “despicable acts ever perpetrated by any state,” Hornady closed the doors to the state. “While it may not make a difference to New York, Hornady will not knowingly allow our ammunition to be sold to the Government of the State of NY or any NY agencies,” Hornady said. “Their actions are a blatant and disgusting abuse of office and we won’t be associated with a government that acts like that.” http://www.guns.com/2018/04/30/hornady-refuses-to-sell-ammo-to-ny-agencies-after-cuomo-gun-initiative/

  45. No bail money needed (yet) but I did kill a gobbler this morning.... I had to sneak into my blind with eh bird gobbling on the roost about 100 yards away inn VERY open hardwoods.. After he flew down, two 3 note strings of very soft yelps on my Bob Harwell box were all it took...I killed him at 6:05 AM. He's a two year old, probably 18 -19 pounds with an 8 inch beard and 5/8" spurs... I was tickled to get him after 2 mornings of snotty weather hearing very little.. This morning was an ideal gobbling morning. clear crisp and still...I heard several other gobblers this morning, including two on the property I was hunting within easy calling distance...Hoping to make a two bagger tomorrow morning..It has been a few years since I took my 2 bird limit here in Ontario,,,
