Bought a used mathews few years back on ebay from a reputable seller. Bow was mint and has killed a lot of deer. Sold it to a friend. Strings and cables last quite a while if you treat them well!! Limbs aren't usually the problem with used bows IMO
-
To add to mine and everyone elses anxiety level I bought a new stand tonight and still need to wash a couple things.. Plus my bow is only sighted in to the first pin.. Opening day might be a scouting experience
-
He's good.. Did my first mount and was very very pleased. Went to someone else last fall on a recommendation and still have not got my 2017 buck back yet...
-
I get out of work around 4 and my stand is about 20 mins away.. Opening day is becoming somewhat of a tradition and I've always seen deer... according to my cams the bucks are starting to wander on their own except at weird times of the day..
-
always starting good threads Rob... a 2.5 year old buck is a shooter during bow or gun around here (Rochester).. heavy hunting pressure and car vs deer accidents..... I'll usually have a good idea of what's running around as I have 3 places with permission to hunt.. 5 acres.. 12 acres.. and 40 acres.... the 5 acres is my best spot and I will be very selective there... don't forget that button bucks are good eating!! I did shoot a 1.5 year old 5 pointer about 2 or 3 years ago because I noticed someone had shot him in the foot.. well I was rewarded for that last year with a 138" 9 pointer that the taxidermist thought was 5.5 years old

I usually read the huntingny live from the stand thread when I first sit down. My bowhunting read will be Rick Steve's Italian phrase book and dictionary. About 400 pages of lingo and phrases, if you're interested in language learning. My family is from sicily so words are different so i find this book excellent. Good luck

That's a good card pull right there. Best of luck

wow that would be awesome eating... imagine how much meat yield there.. couple hundred lbs? .. expensive meat in the store tho!!
-
Very sorry to hear that. It comforts me to hear you have good memories of both... Hunting season has always been therapeutic for me

smash and grab... scumbags. a lot of cities are bad right now.. san fran is bad i just got back a couple weeks ago we made sure we parked in parking garages with security..

1 job and no kids I have no excuses.. Finished re-posting everything today and although stands are up, I'm only sighted in up to 25 yds.

43 in Genesee county at 7am this morning. Finished posted signs today now I'll likely stay out until halloween-ish. GL everybody

Mathews Switchback with team extreme 4 pin sight, carbon express mutiny 350 arrows, shooting muzzy trocar. New strings and cables courtesy of Traditions Archery in Rochester.

Bought a mathews switchback on CL about 5 or 6 years ago. It was mint then and still is. Nice thing is that it still has high resale value, but for now I'm keeping it.
-
Those look like wolves... Exactly like the ones here at the seneca park zoo in Rochester lol. Could also be some sort of hybrid? All i know is that'd be a scary sight if i was walking in the woods alone with a bow in my hand.

Got your opening day spot picked out yet?

Shot a couple dozen arrows yesterday.. I will get out of work around 4 and drive about 20 mins to my stand for a couple hour evening sit... Last year i saw 23 deer opening morning... Hoping weather drops soon.. Good luck -
let em grow! cool pic... exactly what my wife doesn't want is me getting any more excited for bow season than i already am...
-
yeah most of the time I have the HSS on the outside of my bow jacket but in the rain I have put it inside and through the little back hole because that HSS fabric absorbs water and takes forever to dry... don't get too upset with me though because I don't wear a harness during gun season as I'm usually sitting 100% of the time
-
couple shooters there!! that 10 pointer is real nice! best of luck...
-
HSS vest for me just clips on like a life vest has nice deep pockets and can attach right to a tree strap. I only hunt ladder stands now but do a lot of standing vs sitting and this is quite comfy
-
That's great... yeah not too appreciated nowadays... Too many vegans out there lol
-
I also have seen lots of deer out of pop up blinds but never had one in good bow range before... Been thinking about doing a brush blind this weekend on two of the properties I hunt..and stop spending money on new stands lol... Previous owner at my cousins property did some hinge cutting a few years ago.. looks real good and has created nice funnels. Will be using this area to brush in a blind...

I use Evercalm but it has to be newly opened otherwise it loses smell quick. Buck bomb estrous has worked in the past where my friend or I will stink up the woods on our way in and shoot a buck shortly after.. coincidence maybe... And like others, my own pee in scrapes seems to get bucks coming back at night to hit them even harder. So no, a urine ban wouldn't matter to me.

A little late to this one but yes, a young looking yote
