Three00rum
I had a couple of different contractors at the house today to give quotes for a job and both had a very negative response to my Piebald mount. One was a hunter and the other was not, they both felt that they are to beautiful to shoot and one of them insisted that it is bad luck. So the question is……Would you? Red
I wouldn't hesitate I would shoot one and have it mounted. Very nice mount
dbHunterNY
yea we only have had one piebald doe on the farm. none of shot it just by circumstance I think. we kept track of it and never thought about shooting it. it was around for several years. not sure I'd scorn someone for doing so though. First-light
I would shoot one. My neighbor shot one and had a full mount done. Never had any bad luck either!

A Sportsman
I shot a piebald doe with the bow a while back. Maybe 12 years ago. I can understand if you have one that visits your property and want to keep it around. But my perspective is that by killing one, its not like there won't be piebalds around anymore. Personal choice I guess. I didn't get mine mounted. To be honest she wasn't very attractive in the face. I guess you could say she was a butterface.
Paula
is it me or is that back leg coming from where the tail should be?
Terry
I shot one, not nearly as white as yours though. All I have is a couple pics. I was going to get it tanned, but was waiting due to a lack of funds. The freezer it was being stored in crapped the bed without the owner knowing it. By the time he realized it, my hide and all his meat was long gone. Never keep a freezer somewhere you go days without visiting it.
ATbuckhunter
I would shoot it on the spot and mount it just like you did.
G-Man
I shot one and mounted it... I believe bad luck is from an albino...
Pygmy
One of my friends shot a nice piebald buck ( 8 point) on my property and had a full body mount done. He hasn't had any bad luck that I am aware of...<<smile>>. I have had a couple of opportunities to shoot piebald does that I passed up.. I have no desire to mount one and would consider it kind of wasteful to shoot one just for meat.. Lots of plain old brown does out there to shoot for meat. Might better leave it for someone who would like to have the mount/pelt as something special.. I have no problems with anyone else shooting one, whatever thier motivation. BizCT
I would! I too, am curious about the leg? Are both legs on the same side of the deer? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
ny hunter
I am thinking who ever did the work just wanted to show the leg off because there was a lot of white on the leg....

SteveB
They felt only ugly deer should be shot - not the pretty ones?
Doc
Well, first I would take n extra long look to make sure it wasn't some neighbor's goat .... And then I would blow it flat. Would I get it mounted? I don't know. What is a full body mount going for these days? That would be a consideration as to whether it became a full mount or just a head/shoulder mount. Regarding the old wive's tales and the superstitions surrounding these genetic freaks, none of that would come into play. It all has simple genetic explanations, and there is no magic, witchcraft, or hokus-pokus involved.
Three00rum
The rear leg looks funny because it was. The deer had short front legs, very large rear hips, a longer than normal tail and when i gutted it the intestines were grossly deformed. I didn't notice all this before i shot her but it was very noticeable after.
