That is a great buck, nice going! I like to see this, gives me hope that nice deer can be taken after the opener and Thanksgiving. I've only ever gotten one buck after opening week I think it was December 9, the first year rifle was allowed in Hinsdale

Finally made it happen today and got a small 6. I was tired of waiting for the "big" one I needed something the the freezer and he was the unlucky one that walked by. Now time for a big doe.

Watching the fields this afternoon. Not risking pushing deer to the guys renting the neighbors land who decided to put a ladder stand ten feet off the fence line facing into one of my apple orchard/creek bottoms. At least the rain stopped here.

not happy with hornaday sst slugs right now. i shot a doe last night at 415 ish, 50 yards and i hit her in the shoulder. (same thing happened last year) she hits the deck. i get up once dark to give her time and i hear footsteps running up the hill. i leave and come back this morning. follow blood over 300 yards and obvious muscle only hit. now i  know it was a bad shot but i believe any well built slug should go through a shoulder blade. i will now try hornaday interlock slugs.
