Antler meets Dremel tool..

Real easy and simple grampy- really no need for pics of the process.

 

Steps:

1- with a hacksaw cut a slice off the base of an antler that looks about your "finger size"

2- starting with small bit, drill a hole through the center of the antler and work your way up to a larger bit. (A vice would be nice here so you don't drill a hole in your hand trying to hold it.) It will bind up and spin.

3- insert "cone" shaped grinding stone tip into Dremel to open up the hole large enough to accept the "cylinder" stone bit in the above picture.

4- work the "cylinder" stone bit around the inside of the ring until it fits. (beware trying ring on at this time- VERY HOT)

5- with the same tip, round off the edges of the ring on both sides and VOILA..... your done!

Inside of ring turns out very smooth and polished. :biggrin:
