Approx. Age of this buck???

What age would you guys put this buck at based upon his body, neck etc...at 3 1/2 or at 4 1/2  and older? I have no history with him, just a target buck that im looking for an approx.  age on.

I think you are on track with 3 1/2 or 4 1/2 it's tough to tell without a side profile. I would say 3 1/2 for my area (8F).

Thx, yeah i was leaning more towards 41/2 or older only because his body is very round instead of sleek like a 3yr. Old and has a huge neck. At this point its just a guess, but its fun..lol

3.5 is my guess but that angle is a challenge.

Depending on when pic was taken, there is some swelling but the full neck doesn't roll into a barrel chest of a 4 year old +. Body still seems long, but again that could be solely due to angle.

No tarsal staining apparent. The back line in both pics is pretty straight.

Not much in the pic makes me think 4+ but a lot of that could change with the pic angle.

I agree could  be a 3yr. Old as well.. Pictures do pose a bad angle for judging. Thx

3.5 yrs old .... only moderately confident but better pictures would help.  head up so the neck doesn't look so full.  broadsided versus quartering hard or walking at the camera.  also a sharper clear image to better judge development from front to back.

As others have said tough angle. To me he looks like a really healthy 2.5 , still exhibits deep pronounced shoulder and hip pockets, straight line back and stomach profiles, also the snout looks to still be on the slender side. He has good width but seems to be lacking in mass.
Nothing personal it's a nice looking buck that a lot of people would be happy to put a tag on.

 But to be completely honest and having hunted this area for close to 30 years, he is without a doubt not a 2 1/2 yr. old. Hes a typical for atleast being a 3 1/2 yr. Old.

I agree hes lacking tine length,  but yeah he has great potential.

I can't believe everyone is aging this deer so young....you can't judge a buck's age by his antlers.  That being said you can't guarantee age by a pic but that buck is 4 1/2 all day IMO and definitely 3 1/2 at the absolute minimum.

Doesn’t matter shoot the dam thing then look at the teeth. That’s the only way to tell for sure. If you don’t want to shoot it then I will and then I’ll look at the teeth.

He is a stout boy for sure. I think your on target with 3.5 or 4.5. Not the greatest pic to judge but not a lot of characteristics that would make me put him above 4.5.

I'm going to say 4 plus his body looks a lot longer than a 3.5 year old . plus in the first picture around his eyes look real grey. The only way to tell is too get him on the ground and give us the answer. Good luck hope you can harvest that beauty.

he's not 1 and half and he's not 8 and half, the rest is what it is whether 3.5 or 4.5. He's a good target , hope you get him !

Hard to say age of a buck from a trail cam photo. A buddy of mine just shot a buck in Connecticut that is 8.5 years old! Weighed 203 dressed. Six point coke bottle bases. There are some really old deer running around. We can give an educated guess, but the only way to really know is to put him on the ground and send his tooth in. Some of the urban bucks have sanctuaries that let them get old now.
