After season

Ok guys I am just trying to get some ideas to maybe start getting ready for next season alittle earlier. What do u guys do to get ready for next season after the last day of this season?

Shed hunt a ton and mark down where I found scrapes. Finish food plot, hinge cut, plant pine trees and I think that's it.

I have plans of opening up about a acre of woods. I'll be planting fruit and nut trees along with clover there. I'll shed hunt, coyote hunt. Bring my kids out squirrel hunting.

Ill be going through my gear to make sure its alright as well as adding a couple ladder stands to the arsenal if I can. And maybe if im lucky Ill be hunting on my own property next year.

keep an eye on craigslist i picked up three new in the boxes for less then half there price.

Make venison sausage, jerky  and soprasotta. Take in trail cams. Start making plans for next years food plots and maybe some tree prunning.

Not much really . I've really enjoyed shed hunting the last couple years. But I see that as just a fun side hobby. Late summer early fall ill hang some stands and shoot  my bow , well really my arrows.

Dicks usually has stands over 50 percent off come January. That's what Im waiting for.

Squirrel hunting and firewood gathering.

And, of course, thoroughly checking and organizing all the hunting gear so it doesn't end up being left for the last minute at the end of September next year when the grass needs mowing, the chimney needs cleaning, and a million other things take up all my time.

I have an area I'm trying to enhance bedding and cover so hinge cutting is where you cut the tree just over half way thru, just enough for it to come down and still be intact to the trunk. Depending on the tree and the cut the tree can live a few yrs providing food and cover.

For hinge cutting u don't want to cut anything bigger than ur thigh is what I have read. I did a bunch last February next to my food plot and it gets used, especially since more under growth is coming in. I'll probably do a little more around there also.

Apply what I learned this year about deer movements. Habitat on 2 sides of me changed this year, from bedding to feeding (neighbors bulldozed bedding areas and turned them into cornfields!), so I wasn't sure what to expect this year. Learned a lot. Will relocate stands.

I'm thinking of planting corn. Here and camp. I need a row planter tho. Or come up with a different way. And I'm going to let it Stand all season. Hope this helps me and not hurt me. Guess we will see

I broadcasted some corn a buddy gave me. U just need to till the soil up good then spread seed and then drive over it with a quad or tractor to get the seed down.
