Sad it got thwacked by a car. I saw my first one in 9H this year , trail cam pics and cut tracks two years leading up to this year. I remember quite a few people commenting on the live from the woods thread of seeing their first one too. Definitely more in areas they weren't a few years ago.

I've seen a few here on the pa/NY border over that last 10-15 years and seem to get at least one on camera every year. We actually just called one in Saturday night while predator hunting. Seems like they're becoming more common around my area each year but still aren't seen very often.

They are pretty common around here. I watched a big one for about 15 minutes marking his borders and doing a dust bath. Cool. I was surprised he never saw me.

I picked one up off the road , it had just been hit. I couldn't see it going to waste, so my taxidermist did the hide for me. Certainly no where near the majesty of when it was live. I take great satisfaction in how efficient they are on thinning the cat population. They certainly do much less damage to my partridge then the darn cats do.

Fishers do kill and eat Porcupines, as a long time hunter that uses dogs I have had more incidents with Porkys than I care to remember and several like the poor dog below. Keeping Porcupine numbers in check makes the Fisher a friend to me and my hunting dogs, I would like to see more of them.

I've had two sighting in the last few months, the first during how he climbed a maple tree in front of me looked around and went back down. A few weeks ago I setup on a ridge at dawn to coyote hunt. 30sec in I see something coming my way, my excitement of a coyote quickly turned to what the heck is coming.. a Fisher
