Local giant found dead...

A friend of my cousin found this absolute monster laying dead in his backyard yesterday afternoon. This deer was a local legend in the Bath area and several locals were after him. The DEC was called and came to investigate, no signs of a bullet wound were found so they issued a salvage tag. He was rough scored at 200 - 204, just a truely impressive NY buck!

The size of the bucks in your hunting area is absolutely incredible!  You've taken some spectacular bucks and it seems like there are lots more around, too.  The size of these bucks can challenge some of the best buck areas in the entire country in my honest opinion.

Just like anywhere else a few slip through the cracks and make it to maturity but this is still NY and the young bucks get stacked up like cordwood during gun season.

He'd been seen limping, a friend just caped him this morning and said one of the hooves was almost completely missing.

I got the biggest buck of my life this year and I was shaking afterword.  Seeing a deer like that fall, I probably couldn't walk for an hour.  Amazing buck and how big they can get.

I remember an Alsheimer video about how the rut can actually wear out a buck and kill it, I wonder if that’s what happened here? The wounded leg wouldn’t help. What a monster

No doubt he contributed to the local gene pool. So his legacy will live on through some of his offspring. 

But too bad his legacy didn't end at the hands of a hunter, under fair chase conditions.
