Good luck to all the Jr hunters. 

If I had the skill, I’d write up the story of my son’s 2nd year of the Youth Hunt.  The short version is.....Letchworth State Park, 15 adult gobblers inside 40 yards and four (yes 4) adult gobblers missed in two days, each shot was inside of 30 yards and all birds ran or flew like he was shooting spitballs. 

I can promise you that Dick Kirby never had two days like that in New York State......amazing I survived the drama.

i'll be out of town tomorrow. hadn't recruited any kids to take out. i'll probably setup a blind and hide some decoys on the farm in case any kids looking to hunt last minute.

As always, miserable weather for the youth hunt, it's uncanny. We will be out, forecast says rain stops at 4am I hope it's accurate. I just want this kid to hear some gobbling at least

kids aren't ok if they get wet. got to tote a blind for that rainy day dilemma. might not gobble but a good high crested open field in a strut zone is always a good bet for late morning rain.

I'm sleeping in... No youth to mentor this yr. First time in 12 years I'm not going out.

I've made a bunch of call to friends, friends of friends and even some I don't consider friends.  

I'll probably wake up at 4am and lie awake thinking of past youth hunts.

My grandson has an injury from baseball. No youth weekend for us. Hope to get out during regular season when he's feeling better.

My plan just fell through. My brother has been in thailand for 11 days and I’m watching his baby. Due home tonight at 8 but whoops, ticket says the 20th. I may kill him

Here is barely after 11pm.  Wide awake like I'm stressing about making it happen for a youth hunter.  

Fingers crossed for those lucky enough to have a youth to mentor this season. I'm living vicariously through you people this yr. 

It's truly been the greatest memories of my hunting lifestyle.
