My dad has been wearing one since he was 18 , I always wear one for bow season . I just got another one to wear out in the sun.

Those two poor dogs look upset that they don't have bucket hats

I think they got the name " Boonie Hat"  because they were popular with Special Forces, spooks and Ranger units in Vietnam, who spent lots of time out in the "boonies"....

I’ve bought 3 before I found a size that fit me. The tag wore off so I’m not going through that again

Theres a chart if you measure your head size.

I use a version of that when I go boating like the string that it has keeps it on you in the wind .
