got a pic of the laker? How big?   Would like to get a big laker myself - caught a few but none for a mount.

Nah, cant hold a candle to a red....sunlit on snow, they glow, with the black tips and edge of the hair afire....amazing....but close

Trapping or calling? I have them on my game camera regularly Few things in the world more beautiful than a fox...any fox.

I think it's beautiful. On the Island we only have red fox. They only grey fox here are grey fox squirrels lol.

it is absolutely beautiful.

I have a prime red done as a small rug, and would love to add a gray , but don't think I have the heart to shoot one.

Here is the laker from the Rondout reservoir 8 pounds not a monster but always wanted a laker mount and grey was trapped

They are caught up to 12 pounds in there but if you keep waiting for a bigger one you may never get one my wife got a nice one the same day

Believe it or not, but there are grey fox on the Island. There are not many, but it has been documented that they are here.

Pretty grey fox.....Back in the late 70s and early 80s when I was young and dumb enough to hunt from dusk until midnight and then  get up in the morning at 6:00 AM and work from 8 to 5, a buddy and I did a lot of calling with a "grey fox pup in distress"  call.....   Best we ever did was 8 greys in one night, but we often killed 2 or 3 in a good night's hunt...  Greys were bringing about $50 each at the time...We seldom called in a red..They seemed much warier coming to the call than the greys...We used shotguns with #4 shot and shot most of our foxes at 30 or 40 yards..

Digging up an old post as i took this pic at work today and need input(pic sucks)!very grey body and slight redish like OP.facial features seem alike too.was pretty dam big and could care less people were outside looking at it.that pic is at 50 yards max.came trotting in at 30 yards next to me heading right for the dumpster

Are similar in shape and characteristics of a fox?have never seen one is why i ask.this definitely looked all of a fox except the face and coat colors

Looks very similar to the grey @greensider posted up.alot more grey and a more distinct face with black markings
