Try these --- If it's a penny for your thoughts and you put in your 2 cents worth then someone somewhere is making a penny . I put instant coffee in the microwave and it almost went back in time . If a person with multiple personalities threatens suicide , is it considered a Hostage Situation ? I put tape on the mirrors in my house so I don't accidentally walk through into another dimension . If toast always lands butter side down , and cats always land on their feet, what happens if you strap toast on the back of a cat and drop it ?4 points

The same way you can not be a fan of mandatory AR's or killing does... not everyone has the same opinion on the direction of deer hunting and where an idea or organization is taking it... some just don't have the same goals for deer management. Obviously there are many that are not a fan.. if so QDM would be a statewide program... be happy it has come this far and more hunters are in tune with the idea of good herd management.3 points

If a parsley farmer doesn't pay his taxes, will they garnish his wages ? If a cannibal eats a clown, will he taste funny ? What is the speed of dark ? I guess I'm getting tired of the long winter ( DAMN this global warming). I'm getting even more squirrelly than I USUALLY am...<sigh>...2 points

First of all some facts Currently the QDMA is at the highest Membership total ever in its young 25 year history. Four Seasons quotes from the QDMA Website is from the Forums on the QDMA Site. Just like on here there are guys on that site that sling mud and currently are unhappy or whatever. The latest quote is from ssmith... he is a member, but anyone and everyone can go on there and post He is currently unhappy with some issues. It Doesnt represent the organizations leadership or membership at large. Maybe I should find a deer farmer forum, find a negative quote from one, post it on here as the gospel. He is not leadership, is not involved in a branch, is not a volunteer he is a member... it is useless to pull stuff from a forum. Interest in the QDMA or practicing some form of QDM is at an all time high, people realize its benefits to improve habitat and give back. Four Seasons while he says he likes QDM and doesnt hate QDMA is upset on the Stance the QDMA took on deer farms. I understand his frustration give his passion, investment, and future on his whitetail farm. I can get an exact number on memberships if you want, in NY we have over 1900 alone. Not a huge number but it is increasing. I know and speak the truth. My Name is Mike Edwards. I am the President of the Gr. Rochester S. Tier Branch and President of the QDMA NY State Advisory Council. I will speak to anyone on the phone or in person. You can PM me here, or get my full contact info from the QDMA website. I have even spoken to Four Seasons in the past on the phone.2 points

It's easy...First you pop open a beer. Next you log on to DORKZ. When in DORKZ, upload the framscuttle TWICE. After that, click on wackdoodle and crossload the fuzzbumper. Once the fuzzbumper crossloads, sidestep into beenybopper. As soon as beenybopper metabolizes, shut down the porksloop and re-boot the fernbender. After that, pop open another beer and try gain. Nothing to it. Glad to help.2 points

After reading the post yesterday about papabear losing his keys..., it got me thinking. I bet we'd be able to find them easier if they looked like antlers! So last night I watched some you tube vids on paracord survival bracelets and started tying a few things up for myself. This one was my own original brainstorm that I came up with and finished this morning with some of those old sawed off antlers from those little deadheads I like to collect. Now that I've got the technique down, I'm flying through these babies like a little old lady knitting a blanket, lol Been making keychains, zipper pulls for my pack, bracelets, and I have a few other things in mind. Here's an ATL of what it might look like if you drop your keys!2 points

There's no point in being shocked about these kinds of proposals. The anti-gun crowd senses weakness. They know their time is now. They have been emboldened by the success of the Safe Act, so you should expect them to be coming at us with renewed vigor. It may be that they are reading the situation exactly correctly. Our very best and strongest responses have been drawn out with the sneaky passage of the Safe Act, and yet, it seems that they are in the process of getting away with it. Don't think that it stops with the Safe Act. More is coming. If we don't make a proper showing in the next elections, expect this kind of thing to be re-introduced. And without fear of reprisals, expect it to get adequate support to pass this time. We have one chance to turn this stuff back and only one. That is to use the voting record on the Safe Act as a litmus test for your vote this fall. Right now, we need to show politicians that there really is danger to their careers associated with a pro-gun control voting. Unless something unexpected and amazing happens in the courts, the ballot box this fall are our ONLY resort and we have only this one chance. It will make the difference between legislators feeling free to trample the 2nd Amendment out of practical existence or not.2 points

A class act, and a true Buffalonian. The last of the founding fathers of the NFL. He cared more about his city, his team, and the game in general than he did about his bank account or what others thought of him. I was fortunate enough to get to know Seymour Knox before he passed away and left the Sabres rudderless. I asked him why he would just give away the last few thousand unsold tickets for a home game. (He would go to the local malls or drive around in various neighborhoods passing out tickets hours before a game) He said, "...the saddest thing in sports is any empty seat..." I think Mr. Wilson was of that same mentality. His passing is the end of that generation, and of an ethos in professional sports that we won't ever see again.2 points

I've been seeing these guys all over the place lately. Watched 3 of them mousing around the edge of the corn field during todays hike. This guy finally worked his way over towards me and gave me a few shots! ... and a barred owl from a couple days ago!1 point

I only drove cars for years until it became difficult to get home in the snow (not enough ground/snow clearance). Bought a used 4x4. Didn't snow much for two years - temporary weather insurance. Was driving 100/day, gassing up twice a week. That hits the pockets hard - especially since got rid of the Camry. Now driving a car for daily commute to save some money and use the 4x4 for bad weather and hunting. Don't want to give up the 4x4 unless have too. Got me home with about a foot snow on the road. Save some funds and pick up an old Cherokee, Tacoma, or Ram Charger 4x4 beater truck later on. That way can still toss the kids in for those truck times. I can say that putting 3 kids in the back of a Cherokee is tight. Other wise get a min-van. Stow/remove the back seats and put it down a tarp to use as a hauler. Done that for lumber and drywall a few times, and moved a washer and dryer in it. It is not a truck but can do some truck things with better gas mileage. Nice thing about a minivan is that you can separate the kids if the need arises.1 point

Trucks are mandatory in my opinion. Part of the reason I have three vehicles. A truck doesn't have to be pretty. It has to be reliable and functional. We drive two small SUVs daily and I keep the truck for truck things. Best of both worlds. Sure the trucks don't get small car gas mileage, but having an old truck around for hunting or hauling, etc. is a big benefit when you do need it. Heck, my truck carries deer for some people on this forum who don't want to get their own truck dirty. Seriously!1 point

I dont know if I could go back to a car. I like the fact I can go anywhere, whenever I want. I can pick up large items without having to borrow a truck, or plan it out. Its just so convenient. I dont have to shovel or plow my driveway in the winter, etc etc etc. The convenience is worth the expense IMO. Id be pretty bummed if I had to give up the truck, I feel for ya.1 point

I asked those people to provide some proof of the way I "play the mod card" and sling crap. None was ever provided. I attribute it to hurt feelings and poo flinging from the usual suspects. Not that I give a rats patoot what said people think on the subject, or me for that matter. (BTW, notice I edited out your cursing a few posts ago without slapping your hand in any way what-so-ever? Geeze, Im such a heavy handed mean guy, arent I?) Wow, 6 new farms for rich guys with no hunting skills? You go boy. lol Yep, thats a little flinging back at ya hahahaha1 point

First off, QDMA is an organization, not a style, or management system. Second, my goals for my harvests have nothing to do with what you deem as a "true QDM style". My goals are based on many factors, including what makes me happy. We have quite a few 3 1/2+ year old bucks running around the area I hunt. When I get to a point where I want to set my bar at 3 1/2 or better, I will. Would I like to shoot a giant? Sure I would. Is that the only reason I hunt? Hell no. I was just at the northeast Regional Summit (which our branch put on) and was given the membership numbers. I dont remember the exact numbers off the top of my head, but Ill see if I cant get them for you. Maybe Culver or WesternNY remembers exactly what they were. Exactly what did I find out? Please, clue me in. I dont hide behind anything. Want to come see me, or talk to me in person? Ive posted many times about events Im at. Feel free to stop by, Ill tell you the same opinions to your face as I would on here.1 point

Thanks for the comments everyone! I guess this is just the kind of stuff that a man dreams up while staring at a pile of antlers, waiting for more snow to melt so he can get back out there to find more. I looked at my little key chains today, and felt like something was missing, so I broke out the Dremel tool and got busy. I'm not a bone carver by any means, but I can draw a pretty decent deer track, so away I went, lol Also learned some new patterns for the braided sections, and ordered a variety of new cordage colors to kill some time if winter lingers on any longer! What do you guys think.... cool or corny?1 point

I decided to do my own European mount on my deer. Not only was it fun, but I really enjoyed all that was involved in prepping boiling, mounting. It was much easier than I thought, just time consuming but very worthwhile I am so satisfied with how it came out and wanted to share, it kept me in hunting mode as I did it, and also got me thinking about this upcoming season.1 point

Well, I picked up two 8-pointer mounts from my taxidermist this week, and I dropped a grey fox off to him too! Here are the final pieces of art. One was in PA with my bow and the other in NY with my 30-30.1 point

One of my favorite hunts. I seldom do the early in the woods thing for turkey ,hit the woods by my house at 9:00 Had a hard time hearing because the middle school across the road was having gym class outside, soccer I believe. But I heard some birds followed by a hen attacking my hen decoy, then this guy showed up. Done by 9:30,perfect.1 point

Well I made it to Michaels crafts yesterday and picked up oil based enamel hobby paint by Testors. They were $1.99 per .25oz. The colors I selected were glossy black, glossy brown, glossy green and glossy wood. I had some borax from my last fantail mount so I decided to give swirling a try. FIrst you really have to get the temperature just right 78-80 degs. I mixed 3 tablespoons of borax into 2 gallons of water using a basic bucket I bought at Home Depot for $5. You need to mix the borax really well. I actually took a small jar filled with the same water in the bucket and mixed in the borax. I mixed the borax well and then added it to the bucket. Then I stirred the water even more. Once the water stops moving from the stirring I started by adding the darkest color - black- first. Few drops of black in different areas of the water surface. Then I added a few drops of the the brown, green and finally the wood colors. Using a wire hanger I "swirled" the colors slowly until I got it to the design I wanted. I decided to jump right in and swirl my Iphone 4 bow mount. I figured if it didn't come out right I could always just paint over it with flat black spray paint. I attached another wire hanger to the mount's hole. Slowly and carefully I started dipping the mount into the colors moving it ever so gently side to side. Once it was completely submerged I used a hair dryer to move the remaining paint off the surface and away from the mount. The video showed them using newspapers but I didn't have any. I lifted the mount once the surface was free of color and dried it by shaking it and then using the hair dryer and Viola!!! . . . Needless to say I'm quite pleased!!!1 point
