  1. So this year im lucky to be hunting deer to begin with, I blew out my knee earlier this year and am happy i got in the woods at all, After 4 months of nothing bigger than this guy on cam, He came by on wed. night so when he offered a quartering away shot i decided too take him, The arrow entered between the second to last rib and last rib on his left side and exited behind the shoulder on his right side, he took off on a death run and 35 yds later piled up, Im happy with him and extremely glad i own a deer cart,

  2. Had three gobblers come by the other day and was fortunate enough to get by bow drawn back and was able to run a Rage Hypodermic through the biggest bird. What a way to cap off a great 2014 turkey season!!!

  5. You could always have some fun and download a bunch of monster buck pictures and save them to an SD card and then swap it with his.maybe throw in some cougars and Bigfoot pictures too.

  6. Remove the stands support bar? That does not sound smart. The other hunter can come back after him if he climbs in and gets hurt.

  7. I took this shot the other day hiking home from the days hunt. I don't really have an eye for this sort of stuff, but this scene just popped out at me. I'm really happy with how it turned out, and glad I noticed it!

  10. Guess we should stop buying preorbital, tarsal, doe and buck urine scents. Some of the comments are pathetic in their argument and childish. While I do not like high fence hunts, deer farms get a bad rap IMO. And CDW is overblown. But lets just keep bashing the farmer who is actually out hunting right now! Arg.

  11. I never made it to the back stand...hit the woods and every 10 or so yards I'd kick up deer and get snorted...So I hit the stand in the pic with the 8pt I posted the other day..at day break a set of twins came out of the soybeans and disappeared behind me then over the ridge came 22 turkeys and they headed right to me...I stood and readied for a shot...but Mr. B. was nagging in my ear " don't you go shooting any hens"...So I stood there practicing moving with out getting picked off....15 mins later they finally feed off...there must be alot of soybeans on the ground they stayed a good while...20 mins. went by, I see 4 long beards and a jake coming in from the opposite direction...I saw them angleing toward me so stood and got ready when they went behind a pine...the biggest Tom was coming up a trail I'd cleared and about 70 yrds out stopped...I had not moved a muscle ...but he abruptly turned and lead the boys away and along the ridge line instead...he needs to go..just too smart, picking me out of the tree. I hunted in a base layer and hoodie this morning very little wind ...but NOT south west like they said N/W yes..I have remember to make sure which station for our town I look at...... we have several and it makes a huge difference in temps and wind direction and speed due to the hills and lakes.

  12. I see your point from the business end of things. Hell if I could do it I would. But I still think people that hang a deer on the wall that came from a deer farm are some cheating, sorry excuses of hunters, that would rather take the easy road and buy a rack instead of putting in the time and effort. But to each their own. Wouldn't catch me doing it.

  16. I just got my license Friday. I asked the guy at the counter the same question. His answer was that it will be sometime after the 1st. It very well could be the 1st of November but the DEC like to play the cover their ass game and make the answer as clear as unclear can be

  21. Did not hunt, hung another stand in the thicket. Tons and tons of scrapes in there ! Goose hunters on neighboring land shooting up a storm, farmer harvesting beans along the thicket. Perfect time to slip a bit into thicket and hang this stand.

  22. Just got off the phone with my buddy. I got permission to hunt his parents neighbors land in the NZ! 100 acres just went up to 140 acres! Seem some great deer coming off that other 40 the past three years camping up there! Bunch of turkey noise as well! I may just call him back and head up there tomorrow instead of next week! Sheesh! My heart is pumping like I just saw a deer on a sit.

  23. Hung probably one of my best sets the other day in a thicket right before the rain came down. I almost have to crawl to get in, almost lol. But it's nice in there series of runs with a little water feature in between cut corn and standing still. I did a mock scrape with a picking branch so we will see. Sign is still not picking up. But the home owner I have an easement through his driveway to get to this farm said be saw a giant crossing the field the other night. Said he can see his huge rack at 3-400 yards without the binos at first. Think the standing corn has a lot of deer sticking in there

  27. To me, if you cannot find your way through the woods without polluting the place with tape, maybe you really shouldn't be there. Down our way, the mountain bikers can't seem to follow a rutted up dirt trail without painting trees all the way along with some nice bright paint. Perhaps they should take a long a guide as well .... lol. It seems that everyone needs some sort of visual pollution as soon as they step away from the highway.

  28. Been in stand now for 45 MIN. THe woods are talking this morning, leaves are crispy and wind iis calm. First sit in this stand this season. I just tagged it 'Vineyard Square'; 40ft of vines to my left and right, parallel with my line of sight. Can't (shouldn't) get busted from the sides here.

  31. It was mentioned... Astorino said he would appeal it and the Libertarian candidate also said either it was bad or it should be repealed. You are right - it wasn't discussed. I actually think that is a good thing. Astorino said he would work to repeal the "unsafe" act. That told us folk "in the know" what we needed to know. If the topic was discussed, that gives Cuomo an opportunity to make a "it's for the kids" speech. Hard to counter with uninformed masses. Argue against that and you might be viewed as a "baby killer." In a true debate it might make sense. In a "you have 60 seconds to respond" format with no rebuttal allowed, some topics are better left alone.

  34. Had a huge 9 or 10pt show up on the trail cam the last few nights around 8pm. Had a few smaller bucks show up as well. They are moving in the area, but all at night still. It's nice to see what is out there for sure but it can drive you crazy too. I can't get out during the week so I live for the weekend hunts, and they are too short due to all the chores I have on my list this year. I can get a quick morning hunt in tomorrow and then off to my son's soccer game at 1030. Got a few projects to work on and then a late afternoon/evening hunt. Should be nice and chilly in the morning as no clouds here tonight. Will post up again tomorrow. Btw - my daughter's modified girls soccer team played their last game tonight and won 17-0 to complete an undefeated season. Congrats to them for all the hard work they put in.

  44. 9 point I took on state land in southern 9P on 10/16. Sitting in the middle of a bunch of oaks, he came out with two minutes left before sunset. Saw a total of 8 deer and a bear that day. First bear I've seen with my own eyes, awesome night. Barred owls talking like crazy as the day came to a close. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  45. 10/20/14 am 41 Out back this morning, it was a beautiful out. Cool, not wet and calm. I actually saw some deer!! Had 2 does and a fawn come in from right. The middle doe came right to my tree, I was up with bow in hand but no opportunity. The other 2 were out about 50 yards still. The one walks 8 feet behind me and gets a wiff of something she no like. She starts stomping and taking a couple steps back and forth. This gets the other two all worked up so the big momma blows a couple times and turn and walks out away in front of me with the fawn. The one behind me swings around me, I am thinking perfect. She is 15 yards but I can not draw she will see me. I get drawn but she stops with no shot. I let down when she looks away. She is 30 now and I pull up again as she walks through a 2 foot gap. I just did not have enough time to get comfortable shooting before she is through and off she goes. Close but no cigar!! Sat 2 hours. Bout time I see something!!

  46. Killed an 8pt buck tonight. I'm going to be crippled up as I had a long uphill drag and I swore I'd never drag another. He's probably a 2.5 year old I'm guessing. I'll pull the lower jaw and see what the DEC has to say about it. One of the biggest bucks weight wise I've ever killed, actually the third heavyset I think, he dressed out at 172 lbs. The drag was about 200 yards. I took this pic as soon as I found him, no hero shots in the field. I'll grab some pics for the contest tomorrow.
