Bid on the trailer went through. Go to sign the papers on Monday. I am not going to miss city life at all! It's in a park, but still better then living in Schenectady! First time home owners. Looking forward to our own place and getting to know the neighbors.12 points

I wouldn't normally ask for this here...but if you could please keep me in your prayers In the whole scheme of things this is really a little thing,,,but as you know my knees aren't stellar...Today I did a few hours of mowing and when I got off the tractor they were stiff...decided to walk it off and go get the mail...2ft from the box I step off the road(crest of hill) and my foot must have caught the edge of pavement and the soft gravel...Next thing I know I'm flung forward into the culvert head first. I mentioned they are steep, well I managed to get my hands in front of me as my rt. knee slammed to the ground and I started the slide down the bank face first. Did a somersault and landed....If I wasn't in so much pain...reading this would have me laughing out loud...for it pretty much looked like it sounds...my palms are sliced up a bit but my knee is a mess and swollen and doing a popping thing just siting here...I must be in a bit of pain for I'm rather shaky at the moment........Hey could have been worse...could have broken my leg, wrist or hip! I'll count those blessings... So please if you could ask the guy upstairs if he could just let this be a bruise and nothing worse...I would really really appreciate it...Thanks...Chris4 points

I once handled a so called switch blade knife, you pushed a button and the blade snapped out The first thing that came to my mind is what the Hell is the big deal about that? I can open a jackknife in a couple of seconds without practice. Must be a huge advantage to the millions of knife fighters and slashers out there and the reason why the switchblade is illegal just like a pistol grip is some kind of huge advantage on an autoloading rifle. Just another "Bull Crap" law that accomplishes little or nothing! Al3 points

Thanks again everyone. It's an odd feeling; happy, anxious, and concern all rolled into one. But Giving a middle finger to the festering rat hole we are leaving will be a nice day to say the least. Sometimes listening to those with more knowledge gives a different perspective on things and you might even learn a thing or 50. Just make sure to bring the wife so you don't have to drive. I have to ask about the park rules on outdoor fire pits. Be it a commercial one or if I can build one.2 points

Sorry to hear it Growalot. I wish you all the best. Sincerely! I didn't want to "like" the post, but it's an important point for many of us. I hate to say it, but at some some point we all have to slow down a bit because physical limitations change and pure determination won't alter that fact. It sucks in the worst way, I know, but "it is what it is".2 points

This is true. It hasn't happened in a bit but when I was a kid it happened a bunch. Not sure if it was bow, broadheads or what. Id shoot a deer Itd look around or hop to me, go back to feeding n fall over. I def don't think it's cruel2 points

I'd also like to note, our welfare state policies are enticing illegal immigrants to enter our country illegally. The lure of all the "free" stuff is too much to resist.2 points

You would think so, but actually I taught myself to do the thread wrapping a few years ago specifically to make wingbones. There's a guy at my office who is very into building all kinds of fishing tackle who wants to get me into building rods and tying flies. I'm sure I will at some point, but right now with little kids it's hard to even find time to make a wingbone here and there.2 points

Sitting here with my son at 12::30 in the morning in the emergency room. He had the 3 wheeler for only about 3 weeks and now has managed to run over his own foot.I warned him of all the dangers you guys told me about but you all know you can lead a horse to water but can't make him drink. I guess the brakes were failing and he put down his feet to help him stop and that was all it took. Waiting for the exray to see if he broke his ankle darn kids anyway...anyone want to buy a 3 wheeler! Sent from my VS980 4G using Tapatalk1 point

Glad it wasn't worse...but you tell him someone with vast experience says ...Do Not push the recovery from a sprain, this is what my Dr's have told me " Wish you'd just brake them, that heals A sprain never heals completely ..it weakens the tissue"....So let it heal as best as it can....Of course I was always spraining something a few times a year...lol1 point

Nope, Nada, No BANANA's on my fishing boat!!!! A couple years ago I took a co-worker up to Saratoga Lake for some bass fishing. That is one place where ANYONE can catch bass at just about anytime. I also have won a few tournaments there, over the years. Well, after fishing on a perfect day for more than three hours, we had not caught one dang fish!! So he decides to take a break and opens his little square coleman cooler for a bite to eat and a drink. And there on top I see two BANANA'S! "Sorry Joe, these gotta go." He must have thought I was nuts as I tossed them over the side. But within 15 minutes, we were both landing bass! And I explained the reason for tossing the Nanner's. Coincidence? I don't think so.......1 point

I live down here and they will harass you for anything. Pretty sure I was listening to Steve Rinella podcast and he actually got detained when a cop saw his knife clip on his pocket while riding the subway. It's BS.1 point

I had a bad experience with a family members pit and my yellow lab years ago. The pit was just as calm and friendly as all get out, both my lab and that pit played together for years just fine and then one day it just snapped and latched onto the throat of my lab and tore it apart in just seconds. And on the other side I have a friend who had a black lab that was getting older and was raised along side of his two very young boys at the time, very lazy dog calm and lovable. If I recall this dog was 11 years old and they had owned it since a pup. Same deal it just snapped one day and ripped into the youngest boys neck, he was in the hospital for months and the doctors said his chance of survival was very low. That boy made it through and is a great young man. One does have to wonder why the Pit is banned in so many places through out the US though. A dog breeder once told me there tendency to lose it is more prone than any other breed. He said they are a mean breed, you can love them and be the perfect owner but there will always be a question of when or if that mean side shows. https://www.scribd.com/doc/56495216/Estimated-U-S-Cities-Counties-States-and-Military-Facilities-with-Breed-Specific-Pit-Bull-Laws1 point

The_Real_Tcll taught me this method. I'll never do it the "pulling" way again. Our fingers were cramped for days, lol. Now it just falls off the bone, stir with a wooden spoon and it falls apart. Used to put in oven for awhile in between the smoker and crockpot. I've skipped this stage lately. Trimmed extra fat off shoulder/butt, used coffee based rub, throw on smoker for about 4 hours and then crockpot. Easy Peasy. Counting down the 2 hours til I'm outta work and home and eating it.1 point

Border security solution: Allow volunteers to help secure the border with their own arms, on their own time, with authority to shoot anything approaching the border outside a check point, or not escorted by the US Border Patrol. Put the American militia where it should be at this time in history. Within days, illegal border crossing that would be stopped by a wall, will stop completely. Illegal Immigrant solution: Deport every illegal immediately upon identification as illegal, including any illegal children, and fine the heck out of anyone who was paying them to work. Illegal Drug solution: Legalize ALL illegal drugs. Removing the risk of supplying them illegally removes the high profits in smuggling them. Legal drugs will be privatized and legal businesses must work within the government regulatory system. Users will find it's their choice to risk using drugs and their medical needs will be their burden, not taxpayers. If we are a free country, your stupid choices are your free choice and the consequences are your consequences, nobody else's. I'm sure many will say these are harsh solutions. I say, we must have the guts to solve harsh problems with harsh solutions. These solutions also remove any political gain by any American political party. The only thing that matters is solving the problem effectively and with the lowest possible cost to taxpayers.1 point
