Ignore the face lol sun was brutal but the fishing was great for 2 hrs or so around 12. Wife and boy both hooked nice 3 + largemouth and sunfish and perch constantly...musky didn't want to bite today so I didn't catch anything much. Good day on the boat will go again this week sometime to try afternoon instead of am...I'll post catch pics when the wife sends them Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk5 points

Two police officers responding to a domestic disturbance with shots fired arrive on the scene. After discovering the wife had shot her husband for walking across her freshly mopped floor , they call their Sergeant on his cell phone. " Hello, Sarge " " Yes " " It looks like we have a homicide here " " What happened " ? " A woman has shot her husband for stepping on the floor she had just mopped " " Have you placed her under arrest " ? " No sir.......the floor is still wet "4 points

Wife and I took a run to Punta Cana this spring. Got out one day on a blue water boat. Great crew productive day. Hooked into this one about 11 miles out into the South Caribbean Sea. He jumped 4 times in the 45 minutes it took to get him to the boat. Bill fish of a lifetime. Please don't make fun of the swim trunks too much. Also on board was a Texas Ranger and his girl friend. He caught a 44" wahoo and she landed a blue marlin a little bigger than this one ( mine was 70 pounds 73"). Needless to say she won the pool.4 points

My family lived in Mt. Kisco from the 1930's until 1980's. In 1968 my Grandfather was promoted to Deputy Inspector in the Bronx. He bought a Browning BAR Mk I in 30-06 as his new deer rife. It was a gift to himself. No glass, just iron. He had only one box of Silvertips run through it. He hunted with it one time in Fleischmann's and then joined a club in Duchess County and bought an 1100. The BAR from that time on sat in a sock in his safe. He moved to Florida in 1980 and it stayed in his safe. Cleaned well, oiled and slid into a sock. When my grandfather died in 1996 I asked my mom, aunt and uncle about it. They decided that what was fair was that it would go to my uncle as he was the only son. He lived in Florida, also retired from NYPD and I knew he'd never look at it. It would stay as it had since 1968. It killed me, but I respected their wishes. No other grandkids deer hunt and in fact I am the only one who still lives in NY. My uncle is now 77, he is loosing his sight to macula degeneration. Awful disease. He called me in April and said he'd be sending me the BAR. Well he did and it was all I remembered from the few times I saw it as a kid. Absolutely beautiful specimen of a Slab Side Grade I. I ripped the rifle down and replaced the recoil spring and nylon buffer plate pad as they were 47 years old. $12.50 from Numerich Arms for parts. I added glass to it, a Zeiss Terra straight plex 3-9 and used Leopold hardware to mount it. I also bought a bunch of magazines from a guy on GunBroker since these Mk I mags are becoming the hen's teeth. The rifle is a shooter and a 1/2, sub MOA. In fact .75!!! BAR's are difficult to load for based on everything I am told. Everyone recommends quality factory loads that aren't super high speed, once I got it on paper at 100 yds I switched from Federal Fusions to Barnes Vortex 168 gr. A few dial in clicks and a clover leaf within six shots. I will be hunting with this rifle this year and for years to come. I have to, this rifle has been in the family a year longer than I have.3 points

My top three life's regrets are: 1- never playing World Series Poker 2- never shacking up with a natural red head ;-) 3- selling my 25-06 Of the three the only one I could really control was the last. I will preface it the following way, after taking my big black bear this past year in a stand where I should have only seen deer, I was much happier about having a 30-06 with me. However for deer size game, a well constructed bullet at those speeds is awesome. Of the four or five deer I took with that little poison pill spitter, none took more than two or three next steps. In the case of lungs, it turned them into something between jelly and gravy when they were dressed out. Its a great round and I'll likely own another one. Texas whitetail hunters love it and sand goat shooters swear by them. Roy Weatherby used the 25-06 as the basis for his 257 Wby Mag, which along with the 300 Wby were said to be his all-time favorite chambering. So that 25-06 has a great story to tell. I loaded mine with 117 gr SST heads which were too explosive for me, I switched over to Sierra's and things worked out better. Enjoy it.3 points

I have always wanted to put in some food plots but for 1 reason or another I just never get it done. well I was able to borrow a tractor with a brush hog and I mowed an nice spot in the inside corner of an overgrown field. I raked up the dead grasses, as best I could, I only had a hand rake and I have the blisters to prove it! Then I hit it with a dose of round up. I'll give it a couple of weeks and then cultivate it and put in some Purple top Turnips. Hope we get some rain soon or nothing will grow!2 points

I wasn't having much luck with the traditional Oriole feeder with the orange mix . I would hardly ever see the Orioles . Saw a feeder a friend had and decided to make one . Bought an 88 cent plastic plate at Wally World . Drilled a hole in the middle . Cut a piece of broken rake handle about 7" long and drilled a small pilot hole in each end for screws . Attached the wooden piece to the plate with a screw and put a small screw hook on the other end . Attached 3 small plastic cups to the plate . Drilled several holes in the plate for water to run off . Put Grape Jelly in the small containers and hung it up on a post . The Orioles keep coming back but a robin goes for the jelly as well as a woodpecker and some starlings .2 points

7MM08 in a Rem 700 Mountain rifle is the rifle I use most often for whitetail hunting. I am currently loading Barnes TSX 120 grain bullets at about 3000 fps muzzle velocity. It is accurate , mild recoil and does not tear up a lot of meat. Kills as well as any rifle I have ever used. My second most used rifle , which I tend to carry when hunting more open country, is a .280 Rem in a Win M70 lightweight. I am currently shooting Barnes TTSX 140 grainers in it, at a muzzle velocity of about 2950 fps..It is a deadly combo, and I have killed everything with that rifle from woodchucks to Alaska bull moose..2 points

The "your not as good of a hunter as me" threads are truly sophomoric. Use a crossbow - your not an archer. Use a cam - it's not really hunting. Then I read a - not all hunters that use cams bait. Seriously. It's a hobby. Enjoy it and let others do the same ON THEIR TERMS so long as it's legal.2 points

So here is the process so far of building dad the best hunting shack for those cold /wet/windy/snowy days. Been talking about this for years and have finally broke the ice. Still have finishing touches left but excited to have a place for dad and the grandkids.1 point

Boulder in the upper plot today...I was out weeding around the crucibles and dug out some serious rocks. Then I hit one that wouldn't come out. Had the shovel so started digging looking for the sides...Dang it this will give the backhoe a bit of a fight...right at the surface......Even when I get it out I'll have to back fill the hole with dirt I bring in. Got lucky on that one...should have taken a disc or two this spring. I Just got that plot dried out...even on dry years, that was always a damp pasture for the goats...It'll be my luck To dig the dang thing out and open an underground spring...lol1 point

Don't give up . One friend out in Washington state just got a Sheep tag, after 26 years of putting in . They give out 4 or was it 6 tags a year. He'll start off with his Glen Charles made stick bow, as he's a really hard core trad guy. But the rifle will come out later if need be.1 point

Yes mild winter and plenty of food. I'll check in with him to see if he has any other picts of this deer. Thanks1 point

Just to add... I raise all my cams at least 6/7 feet up. It makes a difference, especially if you don't place the camera right over, or in the middle of a trail. Low set cams always attract attention.1 point

I'm not sure what I do now would be considered scouting, but I do spend quite a bit of time getting familiar with a lot of the bucks in the neighborhood this time of year. I've sort of given up with the cameras myself...., unless I'm the one that decides when to trigger it. So far I've gone 3 seasons in a row seeing and killing bucks that I've watched and photographed over the summer. I just like knowing which of the better deer have potential to become "home bodies" as fall approaches. It has helped me get over shooting the first legal buck to step out many times now.1 point

I set cams where I believe the sign suggests I set them. I rarely if ever set a cam where the sign suggests I don't - and when I do, it's because I want to rule out that I believe it is not where I need to be. That statement just doesn't ring true to me. People who set cams willy nilly generally get willy nilly on camera. People who set cams in the right spot because they can read the signs/scouting info, do get the bucks they're after on cam and sometimes, on the wall. Drury brother want people to think their experts because that impacts what they do for a living.1 point
