I have a cam that I'd like to give to an underprivileged kid/youth. Would prefer the youth not be from a family who can afford to buy a cam for their kid. It is a higher-end blackflash camera that I've owned since new. It sprung a leak a year ago and I did a quick, ugly repair job to bring it back to life and put it back in service. The little moisture damage that occurred causes the batteries to run down a bit faster than normal, but the cam works OK otherwise. A full set of generic alkaline batteries will last about 4-6 weeks. I will ship the cam, a card, and a pack of batteries.12 points

Ban me. I know I am breaking a rule, but there is a point where a line is crossed. Odorless crossed it. To imply what you did is scummy. You sir - are a Class A douche bag and your post only reinforces the status. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk9 points

I've been watching this bachelor group feeding in a friend's newly planted 30 acre alfalfa field all summer long but had yet to get any pics of the group together. Finally, a repositioning of the cam last week to a heavily used ditch crossing payed off. Some nice up and comers in bunch. Coming to bed... Bucks in a row...4 points

My go to knife is a KaBar Little Finn with a 4" blade . I have had one for over 40 years . I was given a new one last Christmas . I don't carry in on my belt for fear of losing it . I keep it in the backpack . I also take a few of the red plastic things at Lowes that you tie onto lumber when hauling it . When I set my knife down , it goes on the red plastic . I can see where an orange handle on a knife would be a great feature .4 points

The one I'm most interested in (pics are from the 8th...oats were cut the 9th). Only captured pics of him one other time this summer. He doesn't hang out with the bachelor group and appears to be following the same routine as last year's bow buck. He's near the top of the hitlist for Oct 1...3 points

Not too bad out tonight. So here's my first shot at 30 yards. And first group at 30. Can only hold full draw for a few seconds due to bad shoulders. But I want one more deer with my bow this year!2 points

Lots out there so someone likes them.... As a new rifle owner the OP, I feel, would be best served by a conventional bolt action with a proper mounted mid range scope in an easy to find ammo as most other agree. Scout scopes, ultra light guns, see thrus where one must move the head to find a good sight picture; complicates things IMO; hes got enough on his plate as just starting out with gun safety+ actually shooting, hunting safety course, developing some field skills......2 points

Yes that was a real nice head of hair 35 years ago, a real pompadour, today I buzz what I have left right down to the scalp. Dan some might say I am a little weird at times but I can assure you my last name is not Yankovich. I believe there may be a direct correlation with hair and horns, back when I had the mop I was taking some pretty nice bucks, these days the points have become a lot fewer. But like my hair today I am not nearly as fussy as I was when I was a young buck myself. Al2 points

Sharp knife……..nuff said. I use either a Buck 110 or a slightly smaller Camillus. Both lock backs, both old and both very sharp. I think I told this story before but, anyway……..My buddy's son shot a big doe a few years back. I found it for him , right before dark, in a cut field. The kid had been singing the praises of the "Butt Out" during our whole trip. What ever. Im sitting on my ATV while shining the lights on the doe, as the kid is gutting it out. He is using the mighty "Butt OUT". I see the kid struggling and after he spends a good 10 mins. on the ass end, I ask him what the F? …He says that the Butt out is stuck in the deer. I climb off my ATV and shine my flash light at his "work area" and let him know that he put the Butt Out in the wrong "opening". Did I mention that the deer was a Doe??2 points

We are hosting the Hunters Rendezvous at Suffolk Archers on Sunday August 21st of this month. We will have all sorts of hunting related info about where to hunt, a trading spot if you want to sell some old bows, quivers etc. We will be doing shot placement, tree stand safety, tracking, blood tracking, how to clean your game. We will have deer search do a presentation with a tracking dog at 8 AM to kick it off. Last year I did the shot placement, this year no one wanted to do the calling so I will be doing that part of it with rattling and different calls I have used over the years to help get deer. Free breakfast and lunch, no charge to enter! Come on down and introduce yourself! I will be hosting a 3D shoot after the presentations are finished, this will be a realistic shoot with most shots under 35 yards so I am hoping for a few perfect or close to it scores! All are invited if you have a friend or family member interested in hunting bring them down it is a great even to get someone started in deer hunting! Hope to see some of our members! Anyone interested in doing some turkey calling or helping me with the deer calling can send me a PM. (I am not a turkey hunter and this is my week spot but it is on the sheet as something I need to teach, any help would be appreciated in this aspect!) (Most hunters are interested in deer vs turkey, last year not one person asked about how to hunt a turkey but I would rather be prepared just in case someone is interested.) If you can make it let me know by responding, if you are interested in helping me with calling send me a PM.1 point

I respected this comment until the end! I use the butt out but also butcher my own dear I am a professionally trained chef and can assure you that you do not need to split the pelvis to butcher or cool a deer just pop the ball joints in the hind legs and you do the same thing... Call this a tool for someone who knows less than you is a a hole comment Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point

I've been keeping journals for over 35 years. And I realize its not a scientific study, just my own observations in the area I hunt. The peak day every year, when the bucks are on their feet actively searching or with a doe is November 10th give or take a day on either side. Of course there is breeding, sometimes well before and after November 10th. But the 10th is what I've come to call the magical day! This would be the day a mature buck would be seen standing in the middle of a field with a doe or cruzing with his nose to the ground. Or running a doe across a road or open area. It is a time to be in the stand all day! If there is only one day to be out there it would be November 10th! I have a world of respect for Charlie A. as an outdoorsman, photographer, writer and hunter. But his luner predictions just never lined up with what I was actually seeing in the woods, in my area, consistently year to year. But for consistency, year to year, no matter the moon phase, it's Nov. 10th for me. Again, just my personal observations.1 point
