I just don't get it No matter what the circumstance is, stop like a gentleman, let law enforcement do their job and if you're not doing anything wrong you should be on your merry way shortly, if you are doing something wrong pay the mother-effing consequences/fines etc. Unfortunately, this officer now has to lose time from work, pay out of pocket medical expenses, etc. All because some douche decided to try and get away. You don't worry about how she was raised. We are extremely close. She is aces as far as any 20 year olds I know. 3.9 in a very hard major and still loves to spend time with Mom and Dad. I know things like manners, personal responsibility and hard work are foreign to you. I would bet you don't see and issue letting a your kids spend time under the crack mentors on your street for career tips and that would seem perfectly acceptable you.

One of my nephews had a match grade M1-A, which is the semi-auto only version of the M14.. He was attending college at the time and did not have a good place to keep it, so it lived at my house for a couple of years, along with 500 rounds of ammo and the invitation for me to shoot it whenever I wanted.. I didn't shoot it very much, because I didn't want to take advantage, but it sure was fun when I did. Eventually, he took it back...<sigh>.....

My package from Midway came yesterday. I laid out the parts & rubbed a little Minwax Antique Oil Finish into the wood to highlight the grain. It will look even better when it is sanded smooth & finished, but this gives an idea of the amount of fiddleback in the Black Walnut. A different angle. I've been working hard to get my gun building bench & R/C aircraft hanger into shape over the last week. I'm having foot surgery on the 24th & will have to stay off the foot completely for 6 weeks. Crutches & a "knee walker"! I'll have lots of arse time to spend at the benches building.

Obama would not connect religion to the terrorist. He did call them Terrorists but fails to connect the facts. Ignoring the true enemy only makes it harder to fight them. The main reason I'm in this thread is that you asked a question, and I knew the answer. The thread popped up in my "Recent Topics" feed. And... I'm a helpful kind of guy. I knew the answer because I run a legislative information and intelligence service based in Albany. I live across the Hudson River in Rensselaer County. In my experience it is difficult to learn who is running for state office when district lines are contained within a individual county. The State Board of Elections does not make that information available on their website because they consider it a local election, even though the candidate is running for state office. Some "local" boards of election do not make this information readily available on their websites, which is both ridiculous and time consuming for the voter. District maps are fine, but it's who wants to sit in that seat that really matters. This, in my opinion, is an area that can easily be improved upon and should be without delay. But this is beside the point of this thread... Are there any NYC-based hunting organizations? Basically, people who are already grouped in numbers that would sign letters to legislators... I'm in the dark on that front... I don't know that I can help beyond basic info here, but when I can, I do help. Good luck...

So I haven't had much time this winter to get out and do much. Did zero small game or predator hunting. I did get out once so far for shed hunting. Did a quick once over of our food plots and some of the major trails near the thick stuff. Found a decent 4 point shed from one of the local 2 year olds smack in the middle of one of the WR plots.

Not knowing your background I won't speculate that you know any more or less than the police that have given their prospective. Shots fired were not reported and worse, covered up by other officers on the scene. Which shows they knew they did something wrong. I couldn't resist today and went shed hunting for 2 hours. I found sheds #16 and #17 for the year and a matching side to one of the antlers I found 3 weeks ago. I knew there were at least 2 great bucks in there and I've found 3 of their antlers so far, I'll be a happy man if I can find that last side... I think the point I'm making on elections is that a Board of Elections is an official, taxpayer funded location for all administration of and information on state and local elections. I shouldn't have to use a search engine to learn about who is running for an election. As a voter, that information could and should be readily available on a board of elections website, be it local or state. A board of elections should be one of the first links offered in any search for a state/local election. In my line of work, I need official documents as well as the information contained within, and I don't think it is too much to ask of our government to make that information readily available to all. Not surprisingly, I spoke to soon...........I stopped at the Town Of Amherst today and the guy said "no dice". I said WTH man? Turns out they stopped the darn program a month ago. The Man said that they will pick it up in front of my house on my garbage day, March 30th. Put it to the curb and they'll snag it. He said that they had too many people bringing them from all over the county and they couldn't handle them all; they were overwhelmed!! Soooo, now my wife is just thrilled that we have to look at the heap-o-garbage on the side of the house for a week until NEXT Wednesday. One other thing the guy said was that he was told Best Buy would take it but they charged $15 I have no regrets, I'd do it again if'n I spot one in the ditch and the stars are lined up.

My seven yr old and I have logged some miles. We started back in Jan at our local non hunting park. We had transisioned from the brushy field into the hardwoods.We always spread out while walking and im always way ahead as he is easally distrcted. Anyways im way ahead and i hear him yell dad i found a deer, keeps repeating it as im walikng back. I walk up to him not seeing anything and say where, he points right infront of me, wow sweet find! Not sure what happened to him but my son was super exited, the next morning he said he dreamed about it. Last sunday morning he said he wanted to shed hunt behind great great grams house. We took a quick walk and he's dying to find a shed on his own. So I'm walking thru some brush and I see one, I call him over telling him this looks like a good spot ( I want him to find it) I sent him past it like for time, each walking right by it, finally I say stop and look around, he didn't find it first but non the less happy. This am he wanted my wife to tag along at the park. She has never really even looked before but she found one. Not long after I heard my son make a excited noise and see him bend over and pick up his first on his own horn, a shinny 2pt and boy was he excited. I had a goose egg. I cant get this to post pic between each story so they are in order of story, except the first two are reversed.

In the process of making a "pot" call display rack for my computer room/office. Problem is I caught a dandy of a cold and feel like crap right now. I never saw a fisher until this past archery season. This guy and his mate came by me nearly every time I was in this stand. Really cool to see.

Do you consider reporting crime as snitching. If so where do you draw the line? In all of the places I have lived , the people I know or have known, would not tolerate criminal behavior and would report it. So "universal??? No.

Up to now I've always paid attention to where they are traveling during hunting season and find a good spot to be. The following year I build a blind and cut what I call shooting lanes that radiate outward from the blind. Six lanes will do and I never cut the brush near the blind. This places you on the crossroads of those shooting lanes and many times the deer hit a lane and walk toward you. Other times they'll stand in the brush between lanes. You'll know where your shot is going to be and can move into position while they're view is blocked. Deer like edge and narrow paths. ​It sounds like your first step is going to be establishing a series of paths just so that you can get through for the first hunt. And of course look for last years rubs, the big oaks, and wild apple trees.

The way this year has been going, I wasn't sure I'd find a 3'rd antler on the season. Today I introduced 3 new faces to the bone pile! Nothing to write home about, but the 2 for 1 freshie set sure was a welcome sight to see! ...and another oldie trampled into the earth.

Garland has been nominated for a single purpose. He is ideologically opposed to the Heller decision which stated the 2nd Amendment guarantees an individual right to own firearms. That decision prevents the government from going completely to the extreme in it's drive to eliminate and ban all types of civilians arms ownership. Semi-auto firearms, both handgun and long gun, are the objective here. That, however, is just the beginning. All types of registration requirements would follow, as well as other restrictions like storage requirements, ownership limits, possession limits for ammo, permits and permit fees. Legal carry, in any form, would be eliminated. If he is sworn in as a Supreme Court Justice, the 2nd Amendment will no longer be a right of the people, it will be a privilege from the government, granted only to those the government feels can be trusted to follow orders. This is something everyone who owns firearms now, be they hunter, target shooter or collector, should be writing their Senators about today.

I shot a 6 point in archery, hit it back a bit, and after 4 1/2 hrs, started tracking down the hill. In full camo, mask, gloves, etc. an hour later saw the buck bedded ~ 30 yds below, looking downhill away from me next to a fallen tree. Needed to move ~ 5 more yds sideways to make a shot when out of the brush to the side of me a 4 point comes walking, straight at me. (Afterwards, it appeared I was on a fairly well used trail along the side of the hill.) Forky is curious about what I am, and continues at me, and grunts twice as he approaches. May of had some buck lure on me? My shot buck now is watching him intently from his bed. Forky comes in to ~ 3 feet, stops, and stomps 2 or 3 times watching me stand there, pauses ~ 20 seconds then snorts and bolts straight away from me, right at the bedded buck. Forky jumps the dead fall the other is bedded next to, and the wounded deer follows right after. Fortunately, the wounded deer falls right after his jump and collapses only 10 yds farther away. Went over the the 6 to make sure he was done, and there stands forky, 20 yds down the hill stomping at me again. He watched me until I took of my mask and said Boo to him.
