I have a Browning BTC 5HD that’s been on the shelf for a few years. Had about 10 days of field life. The internal power source to hold date/time/settings doesn’t hold the info after the cam is turned off requiring it to be reset if you want that info or specific settings. Essentially you just need to remember to reset the info after you power cam off and on. Outside of that the cam works phenomenally. A risk taker could open the cam up to fix it but my experience has been it is hit or miss. Probably best to just deal with it since it’s a really good performing cam. I’d still use the cam but with as many as I run I don’t want to remember to reset the date and time. This is really is a high end cam for a youth if he or she is willing to re-enter info. Would prefer it be for a youth that can use the cam on his or her own (teenager) as opposed to a parent using it alongside their real little one. My intent is to help out the immediate up and comer generation. I’ll toss in batteries and card too. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Lost my grandfather this week. He was a huge part of my life and will be greatly missed. I grew up camping and hunting birds and chipmunks in his woods. Fished in his pond for as long as i can remember. He was always smiling and had a great smart ass remark for anyone. My son grew very close to him also and it hit him pretty hard too. So we went for a long walk in our woods today to just talk and enjoy the woods. He was toting his ithaca single shot .22, and i had my ruger mkIII .22. We had games of who could hit the tiny tree. His growing up to be a great shot, im still better but he can definitely hold his own.

I don't poach eggs. I only take them legally.

I had a knife blank laying around and figured I'd try and make a knife from a turkey leg. It's not too practical , more for show I guess.

Yesterday I stumbled on one of these used and in black in a local Shop, have a new one in camo on the way and have a full size stock and rail on he way as well. They list it at 5lbs and it weighed 4.67lbs on their postage scale so with the full stock and a Rmr I should still be under 5lbs and at 35” overall it’s it should be a dandy run and gun rig for the mountain birds I’ve been chasing the last few years. 5 pt was my nieces first buck. My 7 pt is in the middle my nieces husband took the other 7 pt on the end. Very happy with the mounts and all three were done at same time. DJ's in Bath. His son Tyler mounted them.

I nailed 'em this morning. They don't always come out good for me but when they do, they're great. I love all eggs but poached are at the top...... What's your favorite way to do eggs for breakfast??

Picture of a bunch of deer across from the camp. I counted about 12 a week ago my neighbor said there were 40 plus! Picking up 3 deer mounts today at 1:00 I'll post picts later.

For some context. That was a funny morning...we couldn't stop laughing. Nobody would believe us seeing that buck if he was killed and videod. Moog pretty much guessed right where the buck fell too. easy track job.

We researched it after the ground check. Hard to find many 4 pts anywhere that big. Seen one that might be roughly same score but it was a main frame 6 without brows. We joke that he may have shot a world class 4 pt but it's likely true.

starting at 1:53 the girl seems to be talking about what the turkey is doing, he has his head down now his heads up and looking around. shortly after the bird gobbles. note that the girl appears to be kneeling in the grass, which would lean more towards as they were walking they heard the bird gobble and snuck up to the field edge. 2:18 she says hes gonna walk right to that other guy, so they KNOW there is another hunter already there and he is much closer to the bird than they are. but still coming closer so we might have a chance. so at this point they are now aware of another hunter already being there, a gobbler working back and forth in direction between them and the other person THIS SCENARIO is a recipe for disaster and they chose to continue with their calling in hopes of pulling the bird towards them. notice that she appears to be keeling in the high open grass just off the edge of the field, also take note of how much she is moving around and with very little face paint on. I'm actually surprised she didn't spook the bird with all the movement. the only right thing she did was not take a winging shot as the bird flew past. some assumptions of a miss also, could very well of been 2 birds together and if the other hunter heard or saw these folks sneak in there and dropped one bird he may of stayed seated for fear of receiving a movement shot from them, I have been in that situation and waited till the other hunters moved off to retrieve my bird. this isn't a "public land" issue only it happens on private land just as much if not more. does not matter where you are you are going to have 2 styles of hunting happening, the set, call and wait folks and the run and gunners. Its simply a law of averages as you are eventually going to have to 2 styles interact, meaning the setter may be working a bird and as the runner finally gets close enough to hear the bird and moves in. What the hunters choose to do when this happens defines what type of hunter they are. in this video they knew another person was already there and closer to the bird, they chose to continue calling to try and lure the bird away from the other hunter. Their choice in doing so created an unsafe situation for all parties. with today's turkey loads and chokes people are using it can be a deadly decision even at longer distances. not sorry at all but I call a spade a spade and I don't care if its a man or woman in the video, what they did in this video was questionable at best.

I gotta say bill ,i'm not sure if we were watching the same video or not , nothing i saw in that video makes that turkey "her" bird . She was the one walking around during daylight on opening morning , if anything ,she tried to snake the successful hunters bird . The other hunter was calling as well and got within shooting range .
