  2. Geeze Law, you did good with the stick and string. You made it sound like a struggle. Lol. I have owned quite a few but I always revert back to my black widow. I did shoot one with the kodiak mag from the ground and a couple others.

  3. I love this little story. Applies well to hunting success too. COWS DON’T GIVE MILK A father used to say to his children when they were young: —When you all reach the age of 12 I will tell you the secret of life. One day when the oldest turned 12, he anxiously asked his father what was the secret of life. The father replied that he was going to tell him, but that he should not reveal it to his brothers. —The secret of life is this: The cow does not give milk. "What are you saying?" Asked the boy incredulously. —As you hear it, son: The cow does not give milk, you have to milk it. You have to get up at 4 in the morning, go to the field, walk through the corral full of manure, tie the tail, hobble the legs of the cow, sit on the stool, place the bucket and do the work yourself. That is the secret of life, the cow does not give milk. You milk her or you don't get milk. There is this generation that thinks that cows GIVE milk. That things are automatic and free: their mentality is that if "I wish, I ask..... I obtain." "They have been accustomed to get whatever they want the easy way...But no, life is not a matter of wishing, asking and obtaining. The things that one receives are the effort of what one does. Happiness is the result of effort. Lack of effort creates frustration." So, share with your children from a young age the secret of life, so they don't grow up with the mentality that the government, their parents, or their cute little faces is going to give them everything they need in life. Remember "Cows don't give milk; you have to work for it." ~Author Unknown

  4. How could I recap my kids final game of his HS school season? Started Monday- suspended due to darkness in the top of the 11th inning (HS plays 7) tied 2-2. We left 15 runners on base and twice had the bases loaded with no(0-ZERO!) out. Never scored a run. My kids been shut down since last time he pitched last Wednesday due to shoulder/bicep tendinitis. They shut him down so he would be ready to pitch Wednesday (if they made it). With the season on the line he “demanded the ball” one day early and pitched his ass off for 5 innings tonight - 72 pitches giving up only 1 unearned run, 2 walks, 3 hits, 3 strikeouts. After giving up the go ahead run, we got the tying run on with one out who then got caught stealing for out #2. First time this kid got caught stealing all season. Two out single for the 3 hitter, then single for my kid…1st and 3rd two out. Deep fly ball to right tracked down and game (and season) over. 15 inning game played over two days. They Let this team hang around too long. Damn proud of my kid for wanting the ball in that spot and competing like a beast-his arm feels fine FYI. Heartbreaking to watch seniors end their season that way. Thankfully he’s got another year and even more fire in the belly! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  5. Wife and I had our first bear encounter on the new property last evening. We were taking a friend for a ride through the woods on the Ranger when she spotted this guy. At first he stood...took a few steps towards us...stared a few seconds.....then busted off. As we proceeded, we saw him running down the logging road ahead of us. We followed him about 400 yards to the end of the property where he scooted down into the shallow section of the ravine. Not the best picture as I had to jump out of the Ranger to take it.

  6. I had a phenomenal morning on the Catt and then pulled into a little creek that Id never fished and caught a glorious wild brown in a hole with a little spring running into it. It was the only creek in the Catt system I hadnt fished. I love "collecting" streams and this is number 34 for me. Also got a cool pic of a sucker through the polarized glasses

  7. Certainly a different season in ny, bird numbers in my area are way down so I changed up area to hunt. Most areas were an hour to 2 hour drive. Pa has been different also with fewer birds so scouting has been key as always. Had a lot of fun, put on a little over 7000 miles between scouting and hunting in ny, pa and west Virginia. Tagged out yesterday morning in pa and am currently listening to birds hammer on both sides of the truck, LOL imay have a disease. Sent from my SM-S127DL using Tapatalk

  9. Spanish flu , Asian flu, West Nile , Ebola and on and on . Now that’s all racist , a word that’s been so deluded down ,that it’s hard for some take the label serous anymore . I recall a diversity class years ago, where I was taught it was racist to ask a black co worker ,if he watched the game last night , wtf if I didn’t ask him would that also be racist as I excluded him from normal everyday conversations we have ?

  10. There's no telling how long I sat here on Monday, didn't see a single turkey! That's not exactly true, there was one swimming around way on the other side. He never came close enough to get a shot though. Probably all for the best, I think it was probably sick or something, it kept making this awful honking noise.

  11. We have had to use this system in the past. Put some larger treble hooks on the plug and some split shot on the line in front of the plug and it will work better. We have retrieved large Canada Geese doing this. This year my son and I will be using the new system you see in the photo below and I'm looking forward to it. valoroutdoors.com

  18. And your also paying veterans. Should be an absolute 100% vote on this. There are guards at the DMV but we can't have one to protect defenseless children. C'mon...it's a layup. And let's remember when republicans had the house and Senate and presidency they didn't do this. When the Dems had the same they didn't do this. ALL of them are basically disgusting to me these days. There is no excuse for them, other than no one greased their palms to get it done. Sent from my motorola edge 5G UW (2021) using Tapatalk

  24. There are many that yoi would like not sold in stores chicken of the woods cut into strips and grilled with bbq taste just like chicken strips, the button/ store varieties are fairly mushy.. take a giant puffball and slice it about 3/8 thick and use as a crust for pizza.. no reason for cauliflower crusts if lookong to be gluten free. Lions mane can be used as a seafood replacement for crab/ lobster and absorbs flavors readily( also helps boost brain function) . So many to try and many different textures and tastes .

  26. quizzing myself on ducks now everyday so i know which is which. At least on the basic ones. I also did a chart with bag limits since who the hell can remember all that? lol total of 6 - 2 mallards (one hen), 1 pintail, 2 black, 2 redheads, 3 wood, 2 canvasbacks, 1 scaup, (hey im remebering this pretty well!) and a partridge in a pear tree. Not that i think i will have to worry about limits and am most likely to kill one duck at a time if im lucky.... but good to know. Also downloaded a duck ID app. and have @Otto @The_Real_TCIII and @Lomax on retainer to help with ID and "should I have shot this duck?" questions......

  28. Well son had 4th little league baseball game tonight. He had a lead off single off kid pitching. Second time up had got on base for catcher interference with his bat hitting catchers glove so almost like a walk. Then a struck out off the coach pitching lobs lol. When he's used to hitting heat. Having a hard time adjusting. Fielding was great also on a few plays. He got the team game ball in a losing effort. 19-3 blow out. But at least he had fun. He got alot of compliments from people on how natural his fielding is. Also what a great level lefty swing. Just got to work his throw from 3 Rd maybe lob ball more to get it to first. All that matters is he had fun.

  34. My condolences to the families I can't imagine the pain and suffering they will incur. My wife and I met up for lunch after work yesterday. She is a special education principal for high-school kids kicked out of other schools. First thing she tells me is she had to suspend a kid 19 years old for saying he was gonna shoot up the school after an argument with a teacher. She loves this kid but he is very troubled. Next thing we see on TV is the incident in Texas. She is shocked to say the least. Shit hits home real quick. I don't enjoy worrying about her but don't have a fix so I will have faith In how she handles her job. If kids can't go to school without worrying about this crap they will not properly learn, nor be properly adjusted. We live in a world with no perfect answer that's for sure.

  35. Oh.....scary.......The libs have pulled their favorite race card on this covid post. Oh the horror of it all. Now we are supposed to shrink into a corner and stop calling these diseases by their location of origin. What the heck, the race card works on everything else...right? The weak functioning of progressive minds have a peculiar reliance on calling everyone that disagrees with them bigots and racists. You people have made a mockery of the term. Thanks Nomad for pointing out the stupidity of these kinds of claims.

  36. 2nd game of the house league season last night....which is now in full game on mode. I feel like I live at the diamonds....but hey the kids are having a blast. This is a pitching machine league and we use a slingarm vs. Jugs machine. Took the boys a game to settle in and the bats got hot last night. My guys ended pulling off a 12-10 with a big 2 out rally in the top of the 5th to go ahead 12-9. Held tight on the bottom of the 5th to secure the win and the team was beyond pumped. 43. People are poorly informed about the most basic facts in the gun control debate. The CPRC has funded a survey that finds the average, likely American voter mistakenly thinks that over 46% of violent crimes involve guns. The true figure is less than 8%. That isn't too surprising given that President Biden, public health researchers, and the media, say violent crime is all about guns. Not surprisingly, those who believe that most violent crime involves guns are more likely to view gun control as the solution. 44. I think at youth level I would focus on rules and drill play scenarios. Equipment seems less important to me at this level. We are in 8-10 softball and it's hard enough for the kids to remember what base to throw the ball to. I am not sure equipment makes this better.
