Lord of War
I just want to get a feel for what you guys are pulling. I am stuck between a 60lb and 70lb bow and I don't know if theres a huge difference and if i should hold out for 70lb. Do you guys pull over 60lb? WesternNY
I currently shot 62, from 70... shoulder issues. At 62 shoulder is fine, elbow issues. Sign of getting old. My next bow, 2014.... will be a 60 pound bow. Whatever you decide go with, if it is 60 buy a 60 pound bow, not a 70 dialed down to 60. Elmo
My bow is currently set to 52. I can probably go up to 60 without any issues but haven't felt the need. I rather be able to pull back smooth and effortlessly than having to have a herky jerky motion. Being quiet and stealthy to me is more important than any advantages gained from the extra draw weight.
growalot
IMO with the speeds of the new bows going with a heavier draw weight if you plan on just hunting wht tail or even blk bear isn't worth screwing up your shoulder or having a difficult time drawing should "buck fever" start to get the best of you...that happens to ppl more than one might think...or anyone admits...I'm shooting 49#'s and having clean pass through s at 38 yrds...

verminater71
for 20 years I shot between 100# and 105# now I shoot 73#, for some reason, it's easier for me to hold more weight steady, I just got tired of special ordering bows
Early
Back when I was shooting a recurve...45lbs (killed 'em dead); when I moved up to a compound...50lbs (also killed 'em dead)

Rhino... Elephant? 60 lbs. for me does the job. My recurve has a draw weight of 49#.
WNY_Whitetailer
65 lbs for me with a 30.5" draw length...It's easy to pull back even after sitting still on stand for several hours in the cold. MACHINIST
always been 62 pounds,First couple of shooting sessions of the year you feel it in your muscles but by the time season rolls around I am able to hold it back for around 1.5-2 mins without making a bad shot...and yes I do practice that

bkln
55-60 for me, good enough for a deer and comfy holding it for a while, they end up being dead the same... :-)
ants
Last year I dialed back from 70 to 65 (shoulder problem) It's more than enough.
thphm
At 14 years old I shot bows @ 50 pounds. At 72 I shoot recurve, long, and compound @ 50 pounds never saw any reason to shoot any more poundage.Way back whe cement bags were 100 pounds I carried one on each sholder @ 18 years old.So it is not that I could not have shot a higher poundage bow. HuntOrBeHunted
Current bow 60. When I finally make a upgrade most likely 70 if I feel comfortable with it.
Cabin Fever
72lbs. Bow has always been set at that and I've just never changed it.
chiefbkt
72 lbs on both bows.
Danny
63# currently next bow would be 50-60 and shoot it maxed out, bows perform best at the max weight
asav2013
It really depends on how the bow draws. My z7 extreme I had a difficult time pulling 60, my pse evo I was comfortable at 57. Now with my bowtech experience in pulling 62, every bow has there advantages to weight pulled. ,

G-Man
52 Lbs no reason to go higher. Friends / family use to shoot 65+, blew out shoulders. They all shoot 60 or less now.
