Apple Trees ?

I have a few Apple Trees and several other fruit trees in my backyard and they all seem to not be producing much at all this year !  Anyone else experiencing the same thing ?

No peaches (not even any blossoms). Very few and very scraggly, small, mis-shapened, apples that are completely useless (much fewer blossoms than last year). very small pear numbers compared to any year previous. No wild apples. No berries. No black walnuts. No butternuts. Quite a few hickory nuts. Not sure about acorns yet. I have seen a few around. Pretty much just a plain ol' crap year for fruit and some vegetables. Of course I do live in a very steep valley that is known for late frosts.

 

There must have been some stealth late frost that I was not aware of (I was watching for it this year).

When i was turkey hunting on Memorial Day weekend i remember there was a heavy frost one morning, that did a number on all the flowering fruit trees in the southern tier. I haven't seen much for apples in the woods this year. Hope next year fairs better.

Our apple tree is not that great this year. I only have a few pears this year so i have already picked a couple and grilled them. Cherry trees were sad but all my squashes are doing great. Corn is pathetic but chickens will get it all now

My aple trees are horrible this year I wont get a thing no pies, no applesauce,   as others said a late frost is responsible.

Fruit and nut trees tend to run in cycles even without a late frost.

No fruit on any of my trees this year. I don't think it was a late frost as my trees didnt really have many blossoms to begin with. I think the harsh winter we had may have damaged most of them.

My Dad told me the orchard is holding some nice apples. I would've checked this weekend, but this chest cold is whoopin' me......where's my nyquil?

As I said in another post, some have so little you have to look to see any, Many have nothing,Berries are far and few between here a 2500 feet.

I only have a few peaches but It had at least 10-15 peaches on each branch in the beginning of the season.

Our apples are pretty sparce this year, and our pears are almost non existant. Last year we had vast abundances of both. Plots and crops are going to get hit really hard this year. Should actually make cueing in on the movement easier. Last year it was kida tough to figure out the food sources they were using, as they had easy pickings all over the place.

I remember there was a thread about that topic last year. I agree. It was tough because the bucks were not traveling much until the sun went down. A bunch of times I had 3-4 does come out of the thick pines at sundown presenting beautiful 20yd shots and all the while I could hear the buck inside the pines stomping, grunting & rubbing. He pinned me down in my stand a few times for 30 minutes after dark. I never did arrow him, but he's got a track like a damn mule!

We killed every single buck (besides one) last year using agressive tactics. We put alot down, but it wasnt easy. I have a feeling we may not need to get so agressive this year.

It is spotty for apples and such here in VT as well. In some ways it makes scouting and setting stands a bit easier, when there are fewer food sources to choose from.

I have a peach tree that I planted two years ago, looks like  i might have lost it ? I Did spray round up near it ,none of it hitting the leaves and it looks like it might be gone It is about 6'. Apples are few  and small acorns ARE LIGHT .....MIGHT BE A MILD WINTER ? YOU THINK THE ROUND UP  HURT IT ?

We got a freaking mess of them here in 9h again this year. Couple trees from today that are still very top heavy..

My trees that are in open areas have very few to no apples on them . The trees that are in the woods or heavy cover are loaded with apples and pears . That late may frost killed the buds for sure.

_{When my apple trees started to blossom this spring it started and stopped only part of the tree started blossoming and that was it. There was absolutely no frost here either. Weird! But yea real short on apples this year.}
