Where do you keep your bow while on stand?

So where do you keep your bow while on stand? When I hunt out of my hang on's I rest my bow on the shooting rail. I don't really like screwing things into trees but I usually rest my gun/bow on a nail when hunting out of a home made stand.

Across my lap or on a hanger over my left shoulder.

Usually on a bow hander within easy reach. In my hands at times or as soon as I hear or see deer aproaching.

I'm on my feet with bow in hand for first / last hour of shooting light, with my release attached. After that, if I'm on my feet, I'll hang the bow up.

If I sit down, the bow is always in my lap with release attached. Too much movement required to stand, grab bow, & clip the release on.

This year though, my bow hasn't come off the hanger very often. My kid is the designated shooter, so my hands are in my pockets.

Either on a nail....screw in step, but mostly I have a belt bow holder...when sitting I position the bow straight up and down in the holder between my legs...many of my stands have the hill rising up infront of me...so any deer looking across from the ridge will see my outline broken up by the bow infront of me...Also standing and drawing is one fluid motion...hands infront of my body and not reaching off to the side.

I use bow holders within easy reach. The majority of our sets are in clump trees, with the hang on being inside the clump. Youll have a couple/few trees in front of you, so a small screw in holder goes on one of them. I used to use bow holders that were the arm style, but stopped for all but a couple of sets. Id rather have the bow hung right up against the trunk of the tree than sticking out swinging around in the wind, which is just more movement for the deer to clue in on.

I purchased an extra long bow hanger this year. It comes out of the tree to my left and bends out in front of me so the bow is hanging right in front of me. It breaks up my outline and it right there if I need it. I hung it just high enough that it misses my head when I stand. I should have purchased one a long time ago....

used hangers for a long time. got busted once reaching for it, and another time got caught without it and couldn't get it without being busted.

 

since then i keep it on the rails of my climber or my lap on hang ons.

RealTree Ez Hang..........the longest one that DOES NOT fold twice.  I'd like to to grab one of the short ones to keep on hand for a stand that might or might not have one of the longer ones in it.  I think it's only happened once or twice in many years that I'd jump into a stand, only to find out I had no bow hanger.

 

Let me tell you, holding onto my bow (with quiver attached of course) for more than 5 minutes is akin to some kind of nasty punishment........................

In my lap for most of the time. Click on release when deer is spotted. But if I need to stretch or warm my hands, I have a hanger over my left shoulder for each and every set up I have. Pretty much same for gin too. In my hands more often than not. I don't like being surprised without my hunting implement in my hands!

Real Tree EZHanger works great for me. I use different sizes depending on the setup but I typically keep my bow in my lap during the last forty-five minutes or so.

I've had that Ez hanger for probably 15 years and every time I use it I remember that I want to grind off the top of the hook, the part that 90s back toward the tree. It's unnecessary and can catch your limb as you lift it off. One of these years I just might remember to do it in the off season

It's on my rail on my stand. I just ordered a holder. I see many of you mention putting it between their legs. Which holder is that and is that the best place. I don't want to be flailing my arms around reaching for my bow. What kind of stand is it on that its in front of you. Any pictures.

Resting horizontally on the rail of the summit climber. Also I have a self-tapping very small screw with a dremeled slit in it so that it can be screwed in with the back of my knife blade and the wire loop on my quiver attached to the bow can be used if I need to fiddle around in the stand. I am a an awful hunter, though, so take this with a grain of salt, but it seems to me that the bow consistently resting above invites quite a substantial amount of movement to get it into position.

 

 

Skillet's idea to get off your duff for the hour on either end of the day is probably the best advice in the thread

depends.  I have a couple permanent stands with the exact same small screw in holder like WNYBuckhunter posted.  stays still in the wind.  most of the time though it's sitting in my lap with the wrist around my wrist.  none of my stands have "shooting rails"  they're pointless and in the way for bowhunting in my opinion.  if I hunt out of a stand with a gun it's usually close I don't need the rest or I have a part of the actual tree trunk to rest against.
