Speaking of love..........if you've never had smoked mussels in the little tins you ain't lived.

Sardines are freaking great but the mussels will knock your socks off...............

Dang, forgot about those. Those are pretty darn good. The Mrs. is going shopping tomorrow too. They just made the list.

I made a couple of Mediterranean Cruises when in the Marine Corps . We would buy several

cans of sardines . Someone would volunteer to go to the mess hall late at night and get some saltine

crackers . We would have sardines and crackers and coffee and play cards until the wee hours of the morning .

What about pickled Herring?? Looks a$$ nasty but….gooooood

I myself like to eat it but it depends on the taste, most of the jarred ones have a sweet taste to me.Sardines are great all the time infact I take with me on my pack when going fishing.I really have not found any fish that I do not like even canned salmon makes a great snack/ cake.I do enjoy raw tuna and goatcheese sandwich

LOVE Sardines. paired up with a very good Limburger cheese and a spicy mustard. mmmmmmmmmm

Also a huge anchovies fan.  white pizza with anchovies and artichoke hearts.

I'm very fond of anchovies, too, but for some reason I don't care for them on pizza.

I'll eat 'em every day right out of the jar on crackers or in a salad.

One of my old retired buddies takes Hungarian wax peppers out of his garden, stuffs them with anchovies and then marinates them olive oil every summer. Along about Thanksgiving time he gives me a few. I look forward to them every year. Some day I'm going to try doing them up like that myself.

i order mine on the side for pizza. I don't like the whole pizza to taste like it. Seems to when cooked on it. I like to place them one after its cooked

I'll have to give that a try, Culver..

Actually, I am not a big pizza fan. Pizza isn't really food. It's something you eat when you are hungry and there is no REAL food available...<<GRIN>>..

When I was a kid , my dad would make his infamous sardine sandwich on pumpernickel bread with onions and limburger cheese. The stench in the kitchen back then would have gagged a maggot. Personally , I have never tried sardines ( I think I was traumatized ) , but have used them on my trap line.
