I'm technically off everyday, but also always on call. In other words, I'm a Manny.

I'll be there tomorrow.

Try to get there early because it was a madhouse when I got there. I got the last spot on the line and the people behind me had to get a rain check. I'm not sure when you were there last but they changed a couple rules. You can now load you magazine with up to 5 rounds, but they will require you to have a barrel plug when they call a cease fire. If you don't have one you have to buy one for 2 bucks. Maybe next time we can meet up and go there together or with a couple guys from here. I was told that place is pretty empty outside of hunting season.

Barrel plug eh? I normally just unload everything if I have something in the chamber if they call cease fire.

They're under new management, this might be one of the results of that.

Thanks for the tip regarding getting there early. Looks like we may be in for a rough day there. Might have to postpone.

Ya its some small orange plug that kind of looks like the handle of a cheap umbrella. You'll only need it if they call a cease fire. From what one of the range officer told me, they're trying to condense rules and make the range more friendly and fun. Id say go and don't postpone, but if your able to go during the week, that would be better. I don't know if it was something special today but there were some really bad shooters out there.

This morning my nephew calls me and tells me look out the side window of your house. Huge 8 point! Problem is he's lingering about 10 yards from my neighbors pole barn. I'm in 6 K and my gun buck tag is still good. .30-.30 in the kitchen now. He wanders to the back 40 and I go to work in my home office.

Fast forward to me packing up the truck to take my crossbow to 7M.  As I'm backing out of the driveway, here he comes, trotting through the yard like a damn race horse. Wind blowing, not a damn care in the world.

Get out.... its busy

Hey CrappyIce,
I'm hunting 3s, Cortlandt area where abouts are you? Been dead by me.

Hilltop Hanover farm as part of deer management program..as an aside blue mountain pissed me off a few weeks back- wanted to take my son 3D shooting and they demanded birth certificate to prove his age. What a BS rule. He is 12 in January but they would not let him shoot 3D since he is only 11 and 9 months

You local guys will know the stretch of road I'm talking about   Como park blvd between Union and Transit rd   Holy smokes. Deer everywhere which is pretty much the norm. But about 25' off the road I spotted what I thought was 2 bucks fighting. Turns out it was a slob of a 10 point with his nose up a does butt shoving her around. She wasn't real receptive to it. First time I've ever seen this. He dang near had her off the ground. Dodged deer that whole 2 mile stretch.

I'm about to go dry my hair...Wonderful cool morning..I open the bathroom window and use the outside air ...that will wake me. Then I'm off for the long trek down the hill to the swamp...3/4 mile in the dark steep ,2 streams to cross...wish me luck.....best to you guys ,be safe...

In the stand now in 3M. Got here an hour later than I wanted to be, but what's done is done. As soon as I got out of my car a doe and 2 fawns came running to me. They got to about 7 yards and just milled around eating. Then out of no where a buck came and ran off the mom and the two fawns followed. Looks like he's been chasing her for a littler, judging by the way she ran. He looked like the one I passed 2 weeks ago

Already had 2 unknowns come in when still dark. Just had a doe and fawn and a small buck come by. Evercalm helped out, the doe was 20 yards down wind, she stopped and sniffed the air. She turned and walked the other way around me. Never spooked but new something was up. They all just walked away calmly.

      Hi Everyone,
It is current the last week for regular season in upstate NY. Living the life working and being a full time student, I have some time off this week and would like to take a ride upstate to do a gun hunt. Never have I hunted public land in the areas 3 G, F, or N and was looking for some recommendations and help! I had used the DEC info locator and found California Hill and thought I might go there. Is there any recommendations on areas to go to in any of the wmu’s? Or on California? Any help would be really appreciated!!

      best of holiday wishes!

Hello everyone I’m currently looking at a house in deposit ny I’ve been deer hunting for many year mainly in Columbia and Greene county never been to Broome county. Before anything I was just curious how is the hunting there ? I know there aren’t any antlered restrictions in Broome but are there monsters out there or is it mainly just small spike? If anyone from that county or knows about deposit and broome county would get back to me i would appreciate it. Hope everyone hunting today catch a big one thanks.

The procedure below to carry the bow is detailed below:
You have to use a cotton towel or something similar. You have to wrap it around the bowstring. Doing so ensures that it will not cause an injury with the bowstring coming in contact with your body. It will not be that sharp either. Once you cover the bowstring with the towel, you have to wear it like a sling. So that it will not fall away from your body. The best way to cover the bowstring is to use a large enough towel. You can wrap it around twice as well. When making a sling out of the cotton towel, you have to ensure that you tighten it to get a snug fit. In that case, it will not slip away. Consequently, it will remain in place. When using this technique to carry a bow on your back, it is essential to practice before going in the wilderness. Only when you can move briskly and without noise using the scanning mechanism should you go ahead with it. To remove the bow, you have to hold it at the bottom. After that, you have to slip it over your head as well as arm. Doing so ensures that you can remove it quickly. When trying to focus on a prey, you need to remove the bow quickly. The technique for removal that we have highlighted above can certainly help you do so.

I'm new to the area and looking for some places to hunt  the next few weekends through bow/muzzleloader season. I'm living in New Paltz, and the place that seems the most promising to me so far is Vernooy Kill State forrest, and north into Sundown. Has anyone had any luck in these areas? Is there anywhere better in the area I should check out? Any info is welcome

      Hi Everyone,
My name is Raul and I am a new hunter! I've been hunting public land for now, but have been suffering. I've done 2 10 hour sits at Kings Park and 3 10 hour sits at Rocky Point and haven't seen one deer. I use a treestand and use scent blocker. I also get there super early in the morning. I need help! I plan to go again this friday. I scouted Rocky point after the first day and always see sign and I try to hunt the areas, but no success. I hunt around 42 and 36 I think. If someone wants the exact spot I can send them it on a map. I am really just looking for help in any areas and everything. I have put so much effort yet all i want is to just see one that will keep moral up. Any help is really appreciated!
