What a fantastic hunt! I had to use the head lamp 2/3 of the way and it took nearly an hour of getting around tree tops down on the trail and baby steps down the hill. I had cleared the trail and it stayed pretty clear of leafs. My boots stayed dry on the inside  through both streams and two ankle deep boot sucking spots. I  Was so quiet I never spooked a single thing. All told I had 18 deer filed by and I raised the bow twice...One a "halo buck" chased 3 deer up past us spooking the doe I was on. The other ,there were just too many rose hips in the scope to chance the 17 yrs shot.  Watched an eagle soring on high over the valley. Then my mud caked boots started getting cold. On the quiet walk back the cleaned trail was just loaded with fresh tracks. I believe this will be a great afternoon stand, just need them to come through on the clear side not the rose brush side. May move stand next season.

My 9 month old held up her end of bargain and slept all night. Got out to small farm at 6 in stand by 6:15. All for nothing, didn't see anything, bright moon last night may have hindered things.

I have a total of 12 private acres to hunt. They are the wrong 12 acres. Haven't figured out the other 700 acres of public land yet either. Only lived here for 2 years, so still learning.

Be careful what you wish for. I saw squirrels about everywhere and nothing else. But.. driving home we saw a monster. 10+ point large body. Walking in the middle of an open field about 945.  Seemed to have one thing on his mind.. I guess it's on or getting going here though the lack of seeing anything while on stand sucks.

No dice this morning..... Swear I heard a grunt as I was packing up... Stopped and grunted back. Peeking out the window. No noise no nothing waited for 15 minutes...

Got. Out of the blind and broke off a couple branches in the way of an arrow... Noticed a rub about 30yards out that was dead is recently active again. Scrape had activity. And on the way out I noticed a run I haven't seen before and sure enough a fresh rub on it. In same direction I heard the grunt from......

Gonna stay outta the blind till gun opener. Hit up the climber over that new run tomorrow afternoon.

For everyone wondering, the rut is upon us.  I'm not sure what phase or intensity.  Some of you know where Niagara University is, I was leaving hockey practice for my son. On campus at 12:40 I see a doe, I pull over and make grunts with the app.  All the sudden I have two 8's a staring at me.  The stare down is taking place when 3 more doe jump out of this little 20x20 wood island.  The lead doe starts trotting off and quickly both bucks are nose to the ground trailing by 20-30 ft.  Keep at it, it's happening.

Pulled cam cards here and had 2 adult does and the triplets at shooting time this morning...neighbor has a guy hunting that just took a 4 wheeler up the back part of the property along our side...hhhmmm how will that effect movement and where should I go?:dontknow: Want to rest the swamp before an afternoon sit....I know where I've seen big buck cruising but the doe are staying low...Today was the first day time activity I've seen and at that they still stayed right in the nastiest of cover while moving......hhmmmm

Was looking for horns but since its my birthday and never shot one on my birthday my finger got itchy. There was a deer behind her I never saw, all i saw was tail as it ran off after shot. I actually was bumming for not waiting then this deer heart sandwich with spinich, garlic, melted cheese, fresh farm egg made me feel better.

3N: dad watched red fox at 215pm keep circling where the gut pile was from my 4pt. Cam shows a red fox coming in everyday multiple times per day to eat the pile. Nothing left but he's still looking I guess. Didn't give my dad a shot opp.

      Hi Everyone,
It is current the last week for regular season in upstate NY. Living the life working and being a full time student, I have some time off this week and would like to take a ride upstate to do a gun hunt. Never have I hunted public land in the areas 3 G, F, or N and was looking for some recommendations and help! I had used the DEC info locator and found California Hill and thought I might go there. Is there any recommendations on areas to go to in any of the wmu’s? Or on California? Any help would be really appreciated!!

      best of holiday wishes!

Hello everyone I’m currently looking at a house in deposit ny I’ve been deer hunting for many year mainly in Columbia and Greene county never been to Broome county. Before anything I was just curious how is the hunting there ? I know there aren’t any antlered restrictions in Broome but are there monsters out there or is it mainly just small spike? If anyone from that county or knows about deposit and broome county would get back to me i would appreciate it. Hope everyone hunting today catch a big one thanks.

The procedure below to carry the bow is detailed below:
You have to use a cotton towel or something similar. You have to wrap it around the bowstring. Doing so ensures that it will not cause an injury with the bowstring coming in contact with your body. It will not be that sharp either. Once you cover the bowstring with the towel, you have to wear it like a sling. So that it will not fall away from your body. The best way to cover the bowstring is to use a large enough towel. You can wrap it around twice as well. When making a sling out of the cotton towel, you have to ensure that you tighten it to get a snug fit. In that case, it will not slip away. Consequently, it will remain in place. When using this technique to carry a bow on your back, it is essential to practice before going in the wilderness. Only when you can move briskly and without noise using the scanning mechanism should you go ahead with it. To remove the bow, you have to hold it at the bottom. After that, you have to slip it over your head as well as arm. Doing so ensures that you can remove it quickly. When trying to focus on a prey, you need to remove the bow quickly. The technique for removal that we have highlighted above can certainly help you do so.

I'm new to the area and looking for some places to hunt  the next few weekends through bow/muzzleloader season. I'm living in New Paltz, and the place that seems the most promising to me so far is Vernooy Kill State forrest, and north into Sundown. Has anyone had any luck in these areas? Is there anywhere better in the area I should check out? Any info is welcome

      Hi Everyone,
My name is Raul and I am a new hunter! I've been hunting public land for now, but have been suffering. I've done 2 10 hour sits at Kings Park and 3 10 hour sits at Rocky Point and haven't seen one deer. I use a treestand and use scent blocker. I also get there super early in the morning. I need help! I plan to go again this friday. I scouted Rocky point after the first day and always see sign and I try to hunt the areas, but no success. I hunt around 42 and 36 I think. If someone wants the exact spot I can send them it on a map. I am really just looking for help in any areas and everything. I have put so much effort yet all i want is to just see one that will keep moral up. Any help is really appreciated!
