Fake nonsense! Did you catch the episode where Ivan and Eve went hunting for blacktails on a remote island ? It was pretty good. They set off after a big set of tracks in the snow. She fell back, unable to keep up with her husband's pace. The buck circled back and gave her a perfect shot. It was running towards her and stopped broadside at what looked like about 50 yards. She may have struck the shoulder blade, because it went straight down in its tracks, without even a twitch. They did not show a real good shot of the antlers, but it looked like at least a 3-1/2 year old. He said it was larger than any that he had taken. I don't believe that they planned this, but it turned out pretty good. She certainly was not all upset like she was after killing a doe on their previous televised hunt. I like this show, and have learned more from it than just about any "Hunting" show that I have watched. It is nice not to be subjected to a constant barrage of advertising during the show itself (and I fast forward all the commercials). The episode where Otto and his wife traveled back to Yule's hometown in Switzerland was also pretty good. After watching it, and a few others filmed in Alaska, it appears to be more difficult to live a subsistence lifestyle up there than it is here in NY. Maybe they just try and make it look that way to keep out the competition.
The_Real_TCIII
For survival shows, I like Naked and Afraid. Honestly I could care less about the nudity, most of the people on there I dont want to see naked. Its a great premise and I know that its legit, my girlfriends niece is in the works to be on the show. My girlfriends brother lives in Oklahoma and has a decent chunk of land. He tried to do it on his own on his land and lasted 2 days before he was tired of the insect bites and said the hell with it lol. I think his daughter wants to show him she can do something he cant lol.The bare feet seems like the worst part, especially where they goSent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

Here is my idea for a new survival show I call it (homeless in the wild ) Or (ghetto in the wild) Get some homeless guys from the worst hellhole citys in the country right off the streets like from Chicago Detroit and drop them off in Alaska and see who last the longest . Buckmaster7600
My favorite of these shows was "alone" on history channel. Some of those fellas and women impressed me!Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Nomad
Agree about Alive , that one couple last season , that built a really nice cabin with beds and everything was impressive ! The Kilchers ( spelling ?) live in suburban houses in either Homer or Skagway AK, I forget which I’ve been to both though . Fake nonsense! I have never seen them claim to be living off the grid, or to be isolated and in deep wilderness. They make no effort to hide the fact that they have a lot of nearby neighbors that help them out whenever they need it. They make no secrets that they have individually lived in other places and done other things, and even had other spouses and kids off the homestead, so I'm not sure what is Fake nonsense. Certainly they didn't find those excavators, bulldozers, tractors and tools and other construction equipment or that huge ship out in the wild. There is no doubt that there is a pile of money in the family. Atz has a net worth of somewhere around 7 million, and I'm sure that Jewel ha a big pile of money. So these people are not to be confused with those on The Last Alaskans, or the people on Life Below Zero, nor have they ever claimed to be in that kind of wilderness, self-sufficient, lifestyle. The lifestyle they live is what they have chosen, and I think it is quite genuinely portrayed.
chas0218
Out of all the Alaskan/outdoor shows I like Mountian Men the most on the History channel. Alaska the last frontier is okay but a bit hokey, the Last Alaskans is okay but a lot like Alaska the Last frontier. Homestead rescue is neat and actually more informative than the others I listed. Alaskan Bush people is a complete joke and the lack of education really shows, Aunt-Ma and Uncle-Pa kind of family. I'm betting they all pork their sisters when the cameras aren't around except that one probably likes his brothers. I'm guessing the Kilchers made their money off oil or some sort of mineral. Who knows they could have a gold mine they never show on TV. I mean there is a lot about these people we don't know. I think Mountian Men is the only show that there isn't as much smoke and mirror stuff. I mean look at Eustace and basically no equipment and his out buildings that have the hand cut wood shake shingles. No one would do that unless they truly didn't have any money. He said in the past he uses the money from the show to pay his taxes and that was it.
moog5050
I was impressed with the last survivors on the show Alone. It really does show how hard it is to live off the land. Last year the runner up was forced to leave due to body weight loss. I am reasonably confident that I would become pretty darn miserable without a readily available food source. Heck, I get grumpy when dinner is ready too late.

Steuben Jerry
I've seen a few of those episodes - laughed my butt off. I'd love to see that 400 pounder (Buck, I think?) hoof it up some Southern Tier hillsides.
