Jdubs
Several days ago I jacked up my lower back and haven't the foggiest idea how. Basically woke up one morning to a sore back and unable to stand up straight. Fantastic. Other than resting on a heating pad all weekend bored out of my skull, what else is there to do, medically speaking? My original plans called for scouting and shed hunting. Forget that. Instead, I'm binging on movies: Star Wars Force Awakens, Lone Survivor, 13 Hours and Gladiator. Will get in a couple more flicks before Wicked Tuna tonight too. Oh well, it could be worse. At least I have good company.
Bionic
Probably pulled something while carrying your breakfasts to the table. On a serious note, feel better, just rest it, and use heat. At least thats what my dad has to do. When his back blows out, its typically a week, and he is the toughest man I know.
Jeremy K
Try ice ,probably pinched a nerve . Some ibuprofen and ice fixes my back when it gets tweaked.

That's just funny right there!
Otto
Try heat for half an hour, ice for a half an hour, it helps me sometimes. Ditto on the ibuprofen. Also some light stretching is good, especially while in the shower with the hottest water you can take.
grampy
Alternate, ice, heat and take Aleve, to reduce inflammation and pain! If not better in a couple days, go see what the Doc says. Hope ya feel better soon my friend.

The_Field_Ager
You need to rest up during this acute phase. Stomach lying can be very good. Then, when you start to feel better a daily regime of back n core exercises will be needed to strengthen the back and avoid future occurrences. I was hoping to avoid a trip to my Primary so hopefully this clears up soon. Edited March 25, 2018 by Jdubs
The_Real_TCIII
Mine was jacked up last summer, doctor said ice not heat. Also a steroid and muscle relaxers. The_Field_Ager
I also favor heat for healing, as it brings blood and nutrients to the area. When you are starting to feel better do lots of cat cow stretches. It acts like a pump for the spine, gets the blood going and healing begun
Lawdwaz
I bet no doctor should recommend a dog to be laying on you when your back is hurting.

King size bed and that's the only spot she wants to lay on. Lol.
Zag
Lots of Advil. I get the same thing maybe once a yr. I'll take 3-4 Advil every 6 to 8 hrs and use the heating pad on and off. Sometimes I'll hit the chiro as well. YouTube lower back streches. I found a pretty attractive lady who walks you thru stretches. grampy
Couple bow seasons ago, I took a spill and had a compression fracture in my lower spine. Although the fracture did heal on its own, my back hasn't been the same since. Seems to "go out" more often now. I do bend and stretches every morning before work, and throughout the day when I can. Exercise does help, especially as we get older, to help keep things in check. One thing for sure, back pain can put you down, like not much else can!
Nomad
My back is one of the few good parts I got left , I attribute that to deadlifts mostly . However your hamstrings attach to your spinal erectors, and tight hams cam bring about lower back issues, it may not even be the lower back that needs work it could be tight hams . Rest, ice , and drugs , then stretch , no relief see a Dr. My back was problematic a while back couldn’t figure it out, Finally went to the Dr. , trigger point spasm . Couple muscles locked up and wouldn’t go,back to normal position, told me to,roll against a wall on a lacrosse ball till I felt like crying , and repete a few sets a few times a day. A few rolls and I had great improvement. i had been stretching, drugs , hot tub , foam roller for a couple weeks , few minutes rolling on a ball fixed it.

Would a pinch be a sharp pain and a pull just soreness? For me a pulled/strained muscle is similar to a bad bruise type of pain . Where a pinched nerve is very sharp like a tooth ache. I'm lucky .When I pinch my sciatic nerve I can ussualy find a position that comes close to eliminating all the pain. I just cannot walk or move .lol.. Back pain is no joke. You can take ibuprofen and Tylenol at the same time because one is processed by your liver and the other your kidneys.
airedale
The wife's back gives her problems every now and then, she would be laid up for several days at times, ibuprofen and rest was the best she could do for relief. For the heck of it I picked up one of the Aleve tens units for her to try and it has been a game changer for her. Once she got the hang of using the thing she she is pretty much good to go and swears by it. https://www.cvs.com/shop/aleve-direct-therapy-tens-device-prodid-1090314?skuId=439364
DirtTime
Like others have stated, alternate cold and heat. Also, this might sound odd, but try not to twist. Use your feet to rotate your hips.Hope you get better fast.Sent from my SM-S327VL using Tapatalk

It feels like a knife sticking in my back . I've pulled muscles before and that seems to radiate more where the other is a very specific area. Moho81
You have gotten some pretty good advice so far. I have an absolute shit back and neck. I will wake up not being able to turn my neck or stand up straight. For me it’s ice not heat and lots of stretching. It seems my legs will tighten up and that will mess with everything going up. Once I get my legs stretched out then Everything is fine.If after 2-3 days it’s no better go see a good chiropractor not just a doctor. My experience has been a primary will do nothing but give you pills while a good chiropractor will help solve the problem. Depending on where your located I can give you the name of my chiropractor if you’d like. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
bugsNbows
Sorry to hear about your back. When you hurt either your back, or your feet, it can be rough. BTDT. Additionally, once you have a back injury, you will always have a back "condition". It gets worse with age too. Heat feels good (usually) but cold relieves swelling. Time will be your friend.
