Haha that’s right. I get hammered enough once a summer to walk down there with a neighbor or two then remember why it’s been a year since I went.

I didn't make it out yesterday. Was hoping to get my daughter out but she went from excited to luke warm to not really interested as the day went on. Won't push it.

Did pull a cam Saturday evening though that showed we just missed the mark 10/18...sat a stand about 150 yards away that evening. 150 yards and 2 hours. Hopefully I close the gap this season. October 18, at 2 pm and a stud is on his feet. I don’t post pics much here but hey...here’s to positive thinking! Hope we meet soon.

I scouted a piece of state land this Sat. because of the high wind & rain. I didn't get 100 yds. off the road and ran into a scrape line. Not a big buck but I am not fussy during bow.

I took the climber and went back this morning for a couple of hrs. then walked it some more. Didn't see a thing but squirrels all morning. Heading down the hill about 11:00 I catch movement to my left and spot a doe at about 50-60 yds. Right behind her were 5 more walking single file up a ridge. All six were big mature does that I would shoot any day of the week. Since I was down wind  I let them get by and walked over to see if they were following a trail and could not find any sign of one but I did find these so I picked them up, brought them home and put them in my re-cycle bin. Why people have to leave their trash in the woods is beyond me and it really pisses me off. Every year I haul stuff out of the woods that other hunters leave.

Anyway it was a nice morning and I will probably go back again because it shows some promise but nothing near what phade has found holy cow.

Anyway here are my views this morning:

My dad would check our lunch bags to make sure we had our wrappers and napkin in there and if you shot a bullet you better have the empty with you or you were going back in for it .

Something weird is afoot. I have noticed a major uptick going on 3 or 4 years now in terms of lung infections. I am shaking something off myself now and I had a very bad dose 2 years ago. I rarely got sick before this and now I get something in the lungs every year. When I was teaching the students were often down with respiratory issues.

I have it now for 5 days. Screwed my hunting last weekend

You better go check on him.

Man if it wasn't Fritos on the ground i would have...he stayed bedded back there the entire hunt with his nose pointed toward my stand (well downwind of him) but I believe sleeping as even a bunch turkeys crossing past him (3 waves of massive birds) did not get him up.

I was waiting for turkeys at 15 yds to hit my lane but ESP influenced their decisions...they gave me a walking 30 and an enternity of 40 yarders that I passed.

This was my first prime time hunt at the lease and first time in that stand...gonna set a summit hawk up the ridge 55 yards...next time!

Game animals surrounded me the entire hunt...felt like I was hunting with your cohort for a while there...(minus phades booner).

She came out and I accidentally clicked the stand with my boot. So she hangs up then decides to come right at me and check it out. After a 10 minute 8 yard stare down she walked away and gave me a 21 yard shot threw a small window.

Fletch performs the infamous " victory lap ". Nice shooting, enjoy the brew !!

I hit the farm to check cams, finally have a big boy cruising around !! On another note, had a doe nursing fawns.... Wth. She better get them on solid food before the weather turns ! Both fawns are tiny.

Good for Dad:good: If there were more like him we wouldn't see as many soda bottles, beer cans, fast food wrappers, etc. along side roads and in the woods. Pack it in Pack it out (with maybe a couple of exceptions)

Just read an article about national parks enforcing poo & used TP pack out because the recent trend in outback adventuring has turned places like Yellowstone and El Capitan into mine fields of crap.

Good luck out there this AM folks

Hello everyone I’m currently looking at a house in deposit ny I’ve been deer hunting for many year mainly in Columbia and Greene county never been to Broome county. Before anything I was just curious how is the hunting there ? I know there aren’t any antlered restrictions in Broome but are there monsters out there or is it mainly just small spike? If anyone from that county or knows about deposit and broome county would get back to me i would appreciate it. Hope everyone hunting today catch a big one thanks.

The procedure below to carry the bow is detailed below:
You have to use a cotton towel or something similar. You have to wrap it around the bowstring. Doing so ensures that it will not cause an injury with the bowstring coming in contact with your body. It will not be that sharp either. Once you cover the bowstring with the towel, you have to wear it like a sling. So that it will not fall away from your body. The best way to cover the bowstring is to use a large enough towel. You can wrap it around twice as well. When making a sling out of the cotton towel, you have to ensure that you tighten it to get a snug fit. In that case, it will not slip away. Consequently, it will remain in place. When using this technique to carry a bow on your back, it is essential to practice before going in the wilderness. Only when you can move briskly and without noise using the scanning mechanism should you go ahead with it. To remove the bow, you have to hold it at the bottom. After that, you have to slip it over your head as well as arm. Doing so ensures that you can remove it quickly. When trying to focus on a prey, you need to remove the bow quickly. The technique for removal that we have highlighted above can certainly help you do so.

Just want to relay an experience I had this weekend regarding hunting regulations and other hunters.
I've had several  hunter's tell me last weekend(10/12/2020) that muzzleloader was open, it is not. I also had two other hunters last weekend confront me as to why my son was carrying around a rifle and hunting deer. I calmly explained the youth weekend and the rules around it. After that everything was cool and we continued our hunt.
I know at the end of the day we're all trying to participate in a sport we love and maybe harvest some game. My thought is to just make sure you're up on your local hunting regulations. Not just so you are within the rules, but also so you can assert your right to be where you are, hunting the way you're hunting.
I know when I have been operating outside of the regulations I have appreciated a person respectfully correcting my ignorance and I try to pay it forward by being informed and respectfully educating when required.
Thanks for listening, off my SB...

      Hello,
I am in the process of purchasing my first rifle to go hunting deer for the first time.  However, I have received contradicting information regarding the types of rifles that are legal.  Based on what I have read, it appears that I am able to use a bolt-action rifle with a pistol grip and a detachable magazine which holds 10 rounds.  However, I have been told that this is not the case. I can't seem to find where this is stated.  Can any one here provide me with some insight into this? I'd really appreciate it.
      Thanks in Advanced,
      Alfredo
