Well after 10-12 inches of snow in the last 36 hours it’s condensed down to 3-4 inches now. Crazy, when I got up yesterday there was around 8 fresh inches of snow. It snowed all day and after a while the more it snowed the lower the depth got lol. Such heavy wet snow and all. This morning was a quiet sneak into the deep Hole stand. Only two sets fresh tracks and most of the snow is off the trees. Looking for a plump doe!

3N: I’m working, but dad is hunting.

He said as he parked the car this morning a nice 8pt ran onto our property.

Then once in his hunting spot he saw another red fox at 635am.

Now a different red fox he just saw at 730

No interest since Sunday, when I filled freezer . This week end Friday PM, maybe Sat AM , Sunday for sure 55 and SUNNY ya baby ! Daughters last sit Monday PM so I need to stay clear of that stand .

Got permission ( she’s not known for giving that )  from neighboring land owner to use her land for access yesterday , with the ditch flooded, it’s the best route . I played all my cards, I was dressed nicely , mentioned my daughter hunting , explained we owned the land across from her , drove the Subaru, wore my FD watch cap . I call it the Eddie Haskel approach .

Good luck fellas

That's using the ol' noggin'.  Hope it pays off for you.

Just got off the phone with my best friend.  He lives near my family's farm, where I hunt.  He's going to give me a snow report. Can't remember the last time I hunted with anyone, but we're thinking about walking a few spots together next week.  We both make our own schedules and both have doe tags, so mid-week could get mighty interesting.

Sure have a lot of foxes around there. Might as well whack one and get it mounted!

Slug gun will make a mess.  I let the fox walk but any coyote is getting whacked

Yea I would love a red. Missed a few over the years in gun season. My dad killed a few reds and has 1 mounted so he doesn’t bother with them anymore but he too will shoot a yote.

My buddy got his first deer ever with a gun. He's gotten one with a bow.  Small doe.  I think I was almost as excited as him.  I knew if I walked into that spot I would either see deer or kick them to him.  Walked in and real fresh tracks and they went right his way.   I no sooner sat down and boom.

He texts me he shot a doe and that I kicked out at least 3 and one went to him within 50 yards.

He got down to check and see if he hit and thought he missed.  So told me he was getting back in stand. Barely 5 minutes later two more shots.. lol what the efff... Lol.

Says he shot twice at a buck and missed.

So ingot down and told him I was coming over.  He shows me where deer went into Small piece of brush area. But I only see one set of tracks come out.   He isnt sure about the second one.

So I have him get back in stand and I will push the brush and see if I can cut a track or push one back out to him.  Sure enough his deer is laying right there.  He actually shot the first one.  So I call him over and he was crazy excited.  Lol happy for him.  I cut track on the buck he missed and tailed it for 300 yards at least to property line and yeah he missed it.

But I was hoping he would get one of them he saw at least 5.  Lol happy for him.  When he went to check to see if he hit the first one he missed blood trail by like 20 yards.  Deer only went about 70 yards and was piled up.

I wonder how many buck get by your dad while he's texting you or reading your texts?

I was right, none.

Dad killed a 8pt at 12:48pm today! Haven’t gotten pics yet because he has a stupid flip phone.

Hello everyone I’m currently looking at a house in deposit ny I’ve been deer hunting for many year mainly in Columbia and Greene county never been to Broome county. Before anything I was just curious how is the hunting there ? I know there aren’t any antlered restrictions in Broome but are there monsters out there or is it mainly just small spike? If anyone from that county or knows about deposit and broome county would get back to me i would appreciate it. Hope everyone hunting today catch a big one thanks.

The procedure below to carry the bow is detailed below:
You have to use a cotton towel or something similar. You have to wrap it around the bowstring. Doing so ensures that it will not cause an injury with the bowstring coming in contact with your body. It will not be that sharp either. Once you cover the bowstring with the towel, you have to wear it like a sling. So that it will not fall away from your body. The best way to cover the bowstring is to use a large enough towel. You can wrap it around twice as well. When making a sling out of the cotton towel, you have to ensure that you tighten it to get a snug fit. In that case, it will not slip away. Consequently, it will remain in place. When using this technique to carry a bow on your back, it is essential to practice before going in the wilderness. Only when you can move briskly and without noise using the scanning mechanism should you go ahead with it. To remove the bow, you have to hold it at the bottom. After that, you have to slip it over your head as well as arm. Doing so ensures that you can remove it quickly. When trying to focus on a prey, you need to remove the bow quickly. The technique for removal that we have highlighted above can certainly help you do so.

Just want to relay an experience I had this weekend regarding hunting regulations and other hunters.
I've had several  hunter's tell me last weekend(10/12/2020) that muzzleloader was open, it is not. I also had two other hunters last weekend confront me as to why my son was carrying around a rifle and hunting deer. I calmly explained the youth weekend and the rules around it. After that everything was cool and we continued our hunt.
I know at the end of the day we're all trying to participate in a sport we love and maybe harvest some game. My thought is to just make sure you're up on your local hunting regulations. Not just so you are within the rules, but also so you can assert your right to be where you are, hunting the way you're hunting.
I know when I have been operating outside of the regulations I have appreciated a person respectfully correcting my ignorance and I try to pay it forward by being informed and respectfully educating when required.
Thanks for listening, off my SB...

      Hello,
I am in the process of purchasing my first rifle to go hunting deer for the first time.  However, I have received contradicting information regarding the types of rifles that are legal.  Based on what I have read, it appears that I am able to use a bolt-action rifle with a pistol grip and a detachable magazine which holds 10 rounds.  However, I have been told that this is not the case. I can't seem to find where this is stated.  Can any one here provide me with some insight into this? I'd really appreciate it.
      Thanks in Advanced,
      Alfredo
