46rkl
Nothing moving here in 8H. Combination of freezing rain, pellets and snow. Not the best for my first outing in two weeks. No deer sighted but felt great to be in the woods again.
Merlot
Heading out this weekend. Also, the weather TV people are hyping this dirty snow squall as if we're all gonna die...it's just snow people, I mean, SNOWFLAKES. We outdoorsmen are used to this stuff.
Cabin Fever
Out in stand at 2:00. Never saw a thing! Sleet and freezing rain!
Otto
3 days in a row hunting, 1 deer sighted. Not going to hunt tomorrow and probably not Wednesday either. Undecided on Thursday and Friday. I do need to go site in my gun if I am going to hunt on Saturday. I will admit today was “fun” in a weird way. Rain, sleet, snow....I stayed warm except for my left foot. Thankfully, it was not too windy. Edited November 11, 2019 by Otto
Goodolboy
Sorry so late to post this but finally saw some of that rut activity everyone has been talking about Saturday morning. Had this old guy come in at 8:00 . 20 yard quartering away shot with the xbow.He has no teeth up top and only incisors left on bottom no molars.Followed by the 7 in the video 5 minutes after I shot him. Def going to have him aged. 25

Do you guys recommend hunting in bad weather? During snow and rain Absolutely, wind and snow get them up and moving. If you look back in the thread to a few weekends ago when we had the high winds, it seemed like everyone got a deer.

cdbing
Goodolboy, that's a trophy in my book. Looks like an old scrapper. Love to see mature deer. Unfortunately as a public land hunter, I have only seen one on the hoof in 25 years.Sent from my SM-G970U using Tapatalk
E J
It appears to be on tonight at my place (8F). I had pics of a nice buck tending doe around 1:30 today and since it got dark I've gotten pics of four more bucks along with pics of does running past the cameras. This is the first real chasing I've had pics of. One of the bucks is really big. I don't know if I have it in me to go out in the morning or not. It looks like it's going to be brutal cold and wind. We'll see what the morning brings.

goosifer
I posted this morning but it looks like it didn't go through. Anyway, I did an afternoon hunt in Cattaraugus county with a hunting buddy. There had been a lot of action there the last few days. Was not to be for me today, however. I had one doe run behind me from right to left, tail down. I had no way to stop her. I was hoping a buck was chasing behind, but he never showed. Instead of just snow, I got a nice batch of freezing rain before it turned to snow. My crossbow was glazed over, and my hunting bibs, jacket and hood were frozen wet. Surprisingly, the outer layers did their job and I was dry and reasonably warm. Another hunter hunting nearby hit a spike at 4:30. We helped him track it and drag it to the road after dark. It was the biggest spike I had ever seen. Not sure if it was a well fed 1.5 year old or a 2.5 year old with bad genetics. I would guess the latter. Driving home on the 219 was a real treat as it had not yet been plowed.
turkeyfeathers
I’m off but a hard no. Me’s got more shoveling to do as the snow blower and thrower should be ready today from a drop off awhile back to get tuned up. Dollar short day late syndrome. Not sure I wouldn’t get stuck where I normally park locally to hunt. Meetings later. So good luck to you all venturing out.
Chef
Going to head out but waiting for this rain to change over to snow, it’s pouring right now and no reason to get soaked at the beginning of a all day sit Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Buckmaster7600
Was driving the 15 mile drive on dirt roads out to the mountain I wanted to hunt today and a found a very good track crossing the road on the way. It’s not super fresh probably a few hours old, the edges are pretty rounded but he’s got a wide stance and is dragging his toes. His tracks look like a cross country skiers. Plans are changed sitting in the truck until daylight. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
