Trout opener 2022, who's going?

I can't wait!

This will be our 13th "trout camp".

The boys will all be at down next Wednesday morning. There'll be lots of shooting, gambling, and cooking all week.

Friday is the big day. We'll be at the creek by 4am, with coffee, nasty breakfast sandwiches, and a cigar or two.

Nothing better than having the guys at camp.

 

Who else is hitting the creeks?

I got plans to bounce around the Catskills opening weekend.   Cant wait!   Trout camp sounds like fun. Enjoy!

Not a real big trout guy, but I am wanting to try for some Brookies,  up at my in-laws in the Adirondacks, on Easter weekend.  I heard that they are very good eating, and I am eager to try some.  
 

The lake up there was recently stocked with some good sized ones.  They had to put in bigger ones so they didn’t get wiped out by the bass.   It was too miserable on the ice last month for me to try very hard for them, so I can’t wait to try on the open water.

Great looking camp!! I love the trout opener more as a sign of good things to come then for the actual fishing. Your plan sounds solid!!!

Nothing prettier than the brook trout and my last meal would be brook trout and bacon. The orange color of the meat is amazing. Delicate to cook a bit but very good. Good luck.

Looks like a great time we did an annual fishing trip for 20 years and it's a good time. Those trout are beautiful!

Fished every opening day on a fingerlakes trip for years alot of friends and family.  Cookouts on the stream banks . Great times . When we got older less friends and family. I spent more time watching the chit show. Now I avoid it like the plague. Nothing but snaggers... rippers..lifters. Stomping the holes booting fish. DEC can't police it . I miss the fun and friends not the chit show it has become .

There's a lot of lifters, for sure. My favorite is when someone walks through the head of the hole you're fishing.

I have no problem calling out a lifter. 

I don't enjoy battle fishing either, but it's tradition. We usually catch some fish.

DEC has been all over Naples creek this spring. Hope they're out there Friday.

I am becoming less excited about opening day as I get older. Usually the fishing isn't great for fly tackle early on,I usually wait until the water warms up a little more and the fish get more active. Trout camp does look like fun though.

Being surrounded by people isn't enjoyable to me. Especially people who only trout fish opening weekend to load up on stockies and have no educate on sharing a river with others. It's just not my scene, I'll wait until May to fly fish streams. I don't eat the trout either so...

These are not stocked. Rainbows were introduced to canandaigua lake in 1936.

Most people are decent. I fish right up until mid May, when the trout move out.

I get my "big" trout fix all winter on steelies and browns so I attribute the "opener" to the stocked streams. Good luck!

I have a camp/club in the Catskills overlooking the junction of the Beaverkill and East Branch Delaware River. Unfortunately, all the 'ole timers that I fished with have passed. Camp is only used for hunting, anymore. So, I'll stick around Florida till turkey season opens and the boys show up.

I go every year on a weekend on Irondequoit creek, but man do I suck with the trout. It doesn't help that half my time is spent helping kids though

Big rain last night my way.  Water was running hard and looked like chocolate milk this morning. Ill be out after work for a couple hours. Anyone have any luck yet?

Taking it easy today.woke up yesterday with fever n tested positive for the vid(home test)fever up to 101.7 all day.no fever today,very little congestion.told the fiance it was opening day of trout season and got the dirty look
