  1. I doubt many who support xbows will actually vote for Cuomo.

  3. Honestly with today's bows, sights , releases. My bow is a pick up and shoot weapon. No real practice needed to kill a deer under 20....form practice and further distances yes practice and proper form is needed Honestly I can kill a deer with bow every year, several if I wished. But archery is a time for me to learn more about the game I pursue. I like to try for a top 5 buck off my property (via trailcam photos). That makes it a challenge. But Gun is much easier to take a longer shot, but the increases in hunter densities make the deer harder to find in their natural movement patterns. As for why bow hunters complain the most or loudest. They are usually the most dedicated and have studied and researched their game habits, habitat, nutrition, travel patterns, food sources, and in general are more educated about the game they pursue, whether it be whitetail, mule deer, elk, moose, caribou,ect... along with the fact they generally have more experiance than most,as they have already hunted with various weapons before they took up bow, new hunters usually start as gun hunters and if they choose to become more dedicated turn to bow, or muzzloader hunting. Therefore bowhunters usually are better conservationists in general than the average guy off the street who may just gun hunt a few days or is new to the sport..

  5. The DEC DID NOT let 5 cougars go..it was 7 cheetahs. A guy who works at Valvoline instant oil change told me last week. Don't believe those bull $hiters at Lowes.

  7. Glad to see them in at least part of the archery season. Have a few older friends and a few younger with shoulder problems(work and age related) who have always been bow hunters be able to get back out to camp and enjoy the hunt. For those of you the follow the hype how much more powerful a crossbow is than a bow and how much further than can shoot, simple math shows the extreme drop off in a bolt vs an arrow. Due to power stroke and weight and velocity. You still have to get close to get a deer with bow or crossbow. On the bbright side think of all the people watching deer get close enough for a shot, learning more about the game they pursue and the possibility of more voluntary qdm happening because of it.

  8. St68, I consider myself a hunter, not a bowhunter specifically. Yet your comments on bowhunters automatically "ruffle my feathers"..lol..Out of all of my bowhuntiing friends none fit your description.

  9. Couldn't have said it better myself. As I have stated all along, if it brings more people into a dying sport, or allows an older hunter the opportunity to continue to enjoy the sport, I'm all for it.

  10. Haha- I was just poking fun now that it looks like this is close to being finalized. I don't care how anyone else handles this, or what kind of hunter you want to "brand" yourself as. I just know I plan on taking advantage of ALL the opportunities that present themselves with any legal weapons this fall.

  11. I'm sure glad I picked up some private land to hunt in the past couple years. I can't even imagine what the archery season is going to be like for the public land hunters. I can just picture sitting in my tree stand watching a bunch of knuckle heads walking around with Xbows. Sorry........they just don't belong in the archery season and whether it's passed or not. I will not be supporting it.

  12. Like I said... delusional ... anything I thought you knew about hunting, conservation or whitetails just got shot down by your last dozen or so posts... actually it is possibly the most nonsensical rant I have ever heard by a so called hunter... your "business" has nothing to do with hunting, conservation, or the future thereof... in fact it has no place on a hunting forum at all. For the record what you know about CWD is another delusional version that you somehow concocted from listening or reading something written by someone that obviously knows nothing about it either. There is no intelligent argument here no matter how much you have tried to make one... beyond this anyone that wastes their time responding to such nonsense has either lost their mind or lives in the same fantasy land as you.

  14. Exactly.. much like the Heroin and Meth industry... lots of money and two growing industries that don't make for honorable livelihoods... It's not even the hunting behind a fence that I have a problem with as much as the Frankenstein like genetic mutants that are artificially created by some of these farmers for the sake of profit. But even worse are those that patronize these "evil laboratories" creating a market for such a perverted use of an animal. First, to claim that this business has any claim as helpful to conservation and the future of hunting is ridiculous... then proclaiming how deer farms can somehow be the savior of a threatened whitetail population is just delusional. One can say that as many times as one likes and still be the only one that believes it.

  15. It is sad to say, but today is the last day of the coyote season here in NY. We are still trying to get out some videos from earlier in the season. We love when we are able to capture footage of dogs sneaking through the woods like this big female. Enjoy!

  18. Freekin' Awesome! My heart was racing, like I was there with you! Have you guys considered doing a "How to video" for our NY coyotes, maybe during the off season? Like what works best for you guys, tricks that you've learned, best places to call, etc... I must suck, as I've gone out many times over the years, but have only called in 1 coyote (that I know of). I've only gone out during daylight hours, but you guys seem to have no problem calling them in during the day!

  19. Same story, different faces. The story you are about to see is true, the names have been changed to protect the innocent...lol. I think if everyone spent as much time hunting as they did worrying about how others hunt, the "book" couldn't keep up with all the new entries

  20. Just curious how was CWD originally introduced into NY?

  21. It's funny how people react to these claims. They almost take it personal that somebody would believe that cougars could be living in NY. Frankly, I doubt there could really be undiscovered mountain lions as far as a resident population, but that belief doesn't lead me to ridicule those who do have that belief. Why do people get so upset and aggressive over such a non-issue?

  23. Facts are facts. Crossbow supporters ended up forming a group, and in 2 years got things done. No, they didnt do it 100% alone, but NYB wanst 100% alone in their fight either. After all, they did stand shoulder to shoulder with anti-hunting animal rights groups on occasion. The sky will not fall. Youll see.

  26. The fact you want to claim bowhunting to be easier than with a gun pretty much makes everything else you say irrelevant. Bow hunters are no more likely to put down other hunters than any other group. No one is ignoring your question because your statement simply isn't true. That is as direct a reply I can give to your inquiry.

  30. Well, they didn't exactly do it all by themselves did they? They had the entirety of the crossbow industry along with all the gun hunters that are constantly looking to pry their way into a backdoor entry into the bow season. They also had a huge assist from NYON and their biased editorial staff. I think it is amazing that the bowhunters being in such a tiny minority went up against all of these forces and were as successful as they were. Each year the crossbow lobby claimed success and each year they were turned back. Given the odds, it was a pretty effective fight for a group that so many people claimed represented so few, wouldn't you say? It was a good fight, but now the door is open and the anti-archery forces are licking their chops at this turn of events. Yet another precedent has been set in their favor.

  31. One quick definition of a "troll" that I found on the internet was: "Someone who posts deliberately inflammatory articles on an internet discussion board" I think we have one here .....lol. They didn't say what the motivation is for such anti-social behavior, but I suspect it is some kind of perverse need for attention from some pathetic soul who knows of no other acceptable way of getting it. At any rate, this guy seems to pretty blatantly fit the description perfectly. I suppose that's all I've got to say on that, and even that response is probably a whole lot more than this guy really deserves.

  33. My post was not an attack.I simply stated facts about today's bow hunters and wounder why they are against every other kind of hunting. They are always the ones crying and wanting antler restriction and shorter gun season with longer bow season. I have read this on many hunting sites and other forums. from what I have read and heard 80% of all today's bow hunters are that way. If I was on welfare what would that matter? Does a person have to have money to be a serious hunter? So I cant type big deal. For the record I banked $65,000 last year. Not sure if I did this right so if I posted the pics wrong Let me know how to do it right. If this is right and you can see the pics 7 of them are with bow and 3 with gun.Sorry for my ignorance with computers if I have done this wrong.I hope this shows I am a serious hunter. That is if I posted them right.I know some will say all it proves is that I can take a picture though.Thats ok

  40. Yes without snow I don't think I'd have seen that deer before he saw or heard me... I would have been very upset if the same situation happened and I lost a wounded deer.. I'm sure it would have been nearly impossible to have caught up to that buck again if not for the snow... Thank God things worked out like they did.

  41. Look guy there’s only about 10 or 15% of bow hunters that think that way; most of us hunt bow, gun and muzzle loader. To the guy that thinks bow hunting is the purest form of hunting because it’s the way the Indians did “come on!!” Unless you use a longbow with a gut string nap your own heads out of flint make your own wooden arrows track and stalk the deer you are going to kill then you are hunting nothing like the Indians did. You use the best equipment you can buy and sit 20 feet in a tree. Just like I do. so don’t make yourself out to be better than the guy at the start of this thread.

  42. What can I add that has not already been said? The post is just an ignorant piece of nonsense that complains about one segment of hunters complaining about others and then proceeds to whine and whimper and complain about bowhunting and bowhunters. Pretty much wins the prize for dumbest post of the year......lol. Sorry to be so blunt ....... No I'm not!

  43. Proof reading your post will help you get your point across. Do a little research on gun season lengths in some of the "best states" and you'll find them much shorter than NY. To the rest of your post, there's some very valid and true points. Bow hunters are usually the most passionate about deer hunting because the amount of time and effort it takes. We know plenty of gun hunters who just hunt a weekend or 2 and that's just fine. But I believe within any group of people you will find the most passionate members "pushing"and promoting it and unfortunately an elitist mentality forms and we end up putting down others. Look at serious golfers putting down the guys drinking and slicing into the woods, computer gamers putting down console players, the guy with the $4k road bike putting down the trek. Harley's vs Yamaha, Muscle vs rice etc. the list goes on and it's not unique to hunters. The group as a whole in any category will need to stay together against those apposed. Think of motorcycle riders as a group. Many legislation and people against them, and together they can unite to support their cause but within, its sport bikes verses cruisers and manufacturers within groups. And this is even more true with hunting. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

  46. I think a lot of hunters will now find out how limited the distance you can take a shot at a whitetail with a crossbow really is. They are "LOUD" plain and simple and if your not right on top of a deer when you shoot you could very well end up with a miss or worse a wounded deer. The stories that hunters will now be able to shoot deer at 70 and 100 yds with a crossbow will quickly fade. From my own personal experience I wouldn't take a shot any past 30yds and prefer to keep them to 25 or less with my crossbows. The very first time I fired a crossbow about 7-8 yrs ago I was actually a little disappointed after hearing the noise on release, I was like Oh my God this thing is freakin loud and will be totally useless for deer hunting. This is of course after being a vertical bow hunter all my life and having taken numerous deer at 35 and even some at 40 yards with my ultra quite compounds. But now crossbow hunters will have a responsibility to show the hunting community that crossbows aren't the devils seed because you know we will be carefully scrutinized by hunters who didn't want them in bow season and by anti hunters who will be out there and posting videos and pics on the horrors of the crossbow.
