If you think about it... most of us would use our guns not only to protect our family, but our country as well... we protect the 2nd amendment because it protects us from those that would take away our freedoms... there would be no reason for anyone to think that we would turn our guns against a government fighting to maintain freedom for its people... unless that government had thoughts of taking away those freedoms from its people. Understanding that... the only reason a government would try to disarm its citizens would be if they were concerned that the people might turn those guns against the government.. and the only reason they would be concerned would be if they knew something we didn't know... like plans for taking those freedoms from the people. Deep.. HUH? Might take a bit to understand what I just said.

  2. The concept of 'truth', in whatever form, doesn't really even enter the debate. It's about conformity. Those who conform are accepted, by whichever side, according to the rules of that particular 'side' of the debate. Those who don't conform to either side are considered 'radical' in their thinking and often ostracized by both camps. Individualism has been deemed in many ways, often by both sides, to be somehow 'politically incorrect', a concept that by it's very nature favors conformity. Current progressivist thinking rules this universe of conformity, and all others are demonized regardless of their political stance. The very right to 'question authority' has somehow become 'politically incorrect'. Think about what that means and where it's headed.

  3. WHERE IS OUR MIDDLE CLASS???? There used to be a time when an American could go into a trade and make a living!!! The opportunity is not there anymore instead all the dopy people want to help illegal immigrants and people who do not want to work. If a soldier can lose limbs and go back over seas and fight the useless people in this country can work through some adversity. The government continues to support the losers who suck the system dry while the rest of America struggles to work and makes ends meat. Why are we creating an environment where laziness and non-productivity is rewarded? why would people go to work to make 30-40 K a year when they can receive the same if not more in gov assistance. Its all to buy Votes, both dem and repub, are guilty. Dont tell me it does not happen, my family owns appartment buildings and we have rented to section 8, these people get health care, food stamps and a place to live the rent was 2400 a month, thats $28,800 a year paid for in just rent now add the rest. How many people can go get a job tomorrow and make 40-50 K right out of high school or even college. and then why would they want to...just pop a few kids out and let the rest of the people take care of you. People need to wake up SS is broke and running out of money but welfare is doing great?!?!?!? PLEASE PLEASE someone give me a logical explanation to this.

For the next storm...I was hand shoveling when the mail lady came down the drive....She said your not doing all this by hand..."Yes Mam"..."OMG" she yells...lol She'll now be another person slowing down to see if I'm dead in the driveway .... But I finally beat the plow for now..I terraced the snow banks before and past the mail box and cut them back to the culvert ditch...they could not drop all the snow infront of either drive or too much infront of mailbox...So it won't be quite as bad this next round...4hours and nearly all of it's done...though I spent 4 hours on it yesterday as well....but today I started the path to the propane tank...that had to be cut into blocks.....I was doing 3 cubed ft at a time..I'm 2/3 there...beautiful sunny day though...wind died down and it's kinda nice out there...though...I did have to sit in my coat 15 mins when I came in...the zipper was frozen...lol

  5. Here's a thought: lets discuss the article that was posted and leave the personalities out of it. The author made some very good points that attacked 'politics' in this country without being partisan about it: -Politicians lie, and they have admitted it, and they will keep doing it to get what they want -What the politicians want is always in their best interest, and their thoughts and actions will always reflect what they want -There is no issue, big or small, that can't be played through the media in such a way that the savvy politician doesn't get what they want etc, etc

  6. I do not care what any person's race or nationality is. I care about equality. That is why I challenge things like affirmative action and quotas. I cannot see how they aren't viewed as discrimination. Every debate I have had with intelligent people who side with AA and quotas, has always left me wondering how they can defend them by saying they aren't. I've even been accused of racism for debating the subject from the equality side of the issue. I can only conclude, anyone who doesn't want to discuss discrimination truthfully and objectively, has no interest in equality at all.

  7. My wife and I took our 6 day "winter" camping trip to Las Vegas last week. Temps were around 80 degrees every day when we were labriously walking up and down the strip. Dined on those prickley king and snow crab legs then took the evening baths in that nasty jaccuzi each night. I'm getting too old for these uncomfortable camping trips.

  8. Hows this for snow piles, my cousin was up at his camp a couple days earlier then me and did me a huge favor and cleared around my camp before i get up there in the morning. Saved me from getting the tractor out and wasting a few hours.

  9. I truly admire your spirit, grow! Wednesday was a 'moving snow around' day for me. Bucketing piles back to make room for more snow, and shoveling roofs. My dear old dad stopped by to rake off the eaves and hold the cell phone in case of emergency during the roof work. I can't wait to start complaining about heat and bugs again.

  11. I really don't believe our government ever intended to take all of our freedoms. I believe it put the country in an irreversible debt spiral by constantly voting benevolent use of our tax dollars to buy votes from the constituents of the two political parties that want only to retain power. For about two decades, our government has extrapolated possible future outcomes of their decisions and the one that keeps coming up in all of their economic models is an economic collapse. Right now, all of the issues the mass media directs our attention to is diversion. This lap dog of the government is charged with grabbing the attention of the masses and distracting them with government created issues like climate change, illegal immigration, measles, gay marriage and the like, to redirect their attention from the real threat looming on the horizon. So, it begins to plan for an economic collapse. When the dollar becomes worthless, banks will be ordered to close. Then there will be chaos. That will require the government to declare Martial Law. When that happens, all of our Constitutional rights will be suspended and all people will be subject to any and all orders from the government and military personnel. That's when the gate will slam shut on our freedoms. In preparation for the possible economic collapse, all 2nd Amendment rights have to be minimized, or eliminated, as much as possible right now, without starting a revolt. It's being done in the name of crime reduction, when all evidence points to it having no impact on reducing crime at all. The government doesn't fear armed insurrection because it will win. It just doesn't want a lot of their agents to be killed under Martial Law by people who refuse to comply. It is just now, we are starting to hear some of the useful idiots of the government starting to admit they want large capacity magazines banned because anyone who owns them is "arming against the government". Only an untrustworthy government would ever think that is the case. In the past, our government sought the help of citizens when it was battling and enemy. It has to disarm the citizens when it knows in this battle, it will be the enemy. If you believe the government is not capable of the above scenario, you have to ask yourself why we see constant tax increases and all sorts of infringements on rights and liberties going on. The answer is, because the government has compromised it's power and authority and fears losing control, as happens in many third world countries and banana republics all the time. Today we see it happening in Greece and maybe spreading to a number of EU nations soon. The biggest threat to any government is loss of power and control. When power and control is almost lost, the government will do whatever is needed to retain it, because the most important thing any government requires, and will never surrender, is power and control.

  13. So I had to drive from Binghamton to Syracuse this morning to take my Dad for a test at University Hospital. Preliminary results look good but will find out more in two weeks. So on the way home Dad is starving after fasting for 12 hours plus so he said to stop at Craker Barrel. I had never eaten at one so we stopped and got seated. Lots of trinkets and older signs and things decorate the store. These pictures were hanging by our table so I wanted to share them.

  14. I think those are the product of the enviornment & culture of poverty more than race. Tiny little Massena, NY has recently seen a substantial increase in violent crimes & drug trafficing & it is predominantly white. As far as drug related crime of which gang related activity is largely comprised of? Decriminalize drugs. Just like probation, the "war on drugs" has done nothing but accelerate the growth of organized (gang) crime. Today black/latino (drug) "gangstas" are yesterday's (booze) "gangsters" of European descent.

  15. While meals at McDonalds would go up, it would be a much smaller percentage than what you post above. I live 13 miles from the border crossing at Cornwall, On. Minmum wage is higher in Canada. I think it's over $11 an hour & long term full time employess make considerbly more I am told.. Strangely, the Prices @ McDonalds in Cornwall are only slightly higher there compared to those in Massena. As far as unions? I started working in Homestead Works of US Steel in the late .60s. Union/management relations were much different then. Different as in a more realist attitude, yet there was respect. Many of my co-workers were WW-II vets. The "greatest generation". There was no doubt were labor & management stood, but everyone knew that the job had to get done, & it did. Mid level management in those days were from the rank & file. They knew the work & it was near impossible to bullshit them. They dispised the suck holes & stool pigeons just as much as those in labor. About 1973, things began to change. There was a brand new crop of college grads that went to school to dodge the draft in the Vietnam era. Suddenly the old hands were being replaced by snot nosed kids that didn't know there a-- from a hole in the ground, but they had degrees, & they worked cheaper than the old guard. That's when things started down the tubes. Everybody started bull shitting everybody else & industry suffered. Nobody in management had the balls to stand up to the unions anymore & things quickly got out of control. In those days, unions kept everone's wages up. Now, the non union wages are dragging eveyrone that works for a paycheck to the bottom. My wife is a teacher. She is required to have a Master's degree. She works from 7:30 AM to 4:30PM daily not counting extra curricular activities & time spent grading papers, making out report cards & such. She dips into her own pocket for supplies & treats for her 4th grade class. She makes less than $50K a year & can't draw unemplymet during the summer like construction & other "seasonal workers". Now people are being turned against teachers by the union busing right wing propaganda machine. Same for postal workers. What these sheep don't understand is that when these services are "privatized", their taxes won't go down. Here's what will happen. Those union teacher & postal worker wages will be replaced by lower wages in the "privatized" industry. There will be less $$$ being spent in their local economies so everone will have less. Meanwhile, the "private" industries will siphon off those taxpayer $$$ & pay exorbitant executive salaries that will never see those local economies. They will also pay less taxes on that $$$ than what the "well compensated" union teachers & postal workers would have payed. Double wammy here. Less payroll $$$ to stimulate the local economy, less revenue for state & local tax base When the American worker was hoodwinked into thinking that having their neighbors pay cut would somehow benefit them, a cancer started growing in the middle class economy. As far as the comments by others about people not being "forced" to work at Walmart? That shows just how delusional their thinking is. Where the hell else are they going to work? Where are those middle class income jobs anyway? Do you think they would work for Walmart if good paying jobs were available? Walmart is now the largest private sector employer in the US. Over 350,000 employees. That distinction used to be held by General Motars W/about the same number of employees when I started in 1991. You should see how Massena is deteriorating now that 300+ 'well compenstaed" GM union jobs have been taken away. A small town of 13,000 & according to a radio broadcast this morning, it now ranks as the 30th most dangerous city in NY state. And BTW, there are very few blacks & minorities here. The right wing has reduced union membership that was at 35% in the 1950s to about 7%. Now they are going after the public employees & the cancer is going to spread unless the working class opens their eyes soon. If unions are so bad for the economy, why is declining union membership accompanied by an almost parallel decline in middle class income? Middle class incomes should be booming since those damned unions are in decline right? Cutting wages is good for the economy. Yeah, right!

  18. I just finished shoveling the snow off of the front of the garage & family room roof . By biggest concern was trying to not slide off the roof . I had pulled quite a bit off a couple days ago with a snow rake but couldn't reach the stuff 1/2 way to the top that was almost 3' high . Once the snow drops 9 feet to the ground , it packs and it was a pain to move even with the 8 horse snow blower . I should have left it alone as my wife always parks her car in the garage but hasn't for the past couple days as she was afraid that the garage roof would cave in so I have parked there . Maybe she won't notice that I removed a lot of the snow . I also had to clear a path through about 2 feet of snow through the back yard and to the shed so I could get my ladder . I was smart enough to brace the feet of the ladder against the snow blower so the ladder wouldn't slide away . I waited until it warmed up to 12 degrees before doing the task .

Once the leaders of dedicated progressives say something, it is immediately adopted by their followers and promoted as truth from then on, regardless of it's absurdity.   27. Wild Pigs - A Reminder For All A thought to remember, Marx said, "Remove one freedom per generation and soon you will have no freedom and no one would have noticed." There was a chemistry professor in a large college that had some exchange students in the class. One day while the class was in the lab, the professor noticed one young man, an exchange student, who kept rubbing his back and stretching as if his back hurt. The professor asked the young man what was the matter. The student told him he had a bullet lodged in his back. He had been shot while fighting communists in his native country who were trying to overthrow his country's government and install a new communist regime. In the midst of his story, he looked at the professor and asked a strange question. He asked: "Do you know how to catch wild pigs?" The professor thought it was a joke and asked for the punch line. The young man said that it was no joke. "You catch wild pigs by finding a suitable place in the woods and putting corn on the ground. The pigs find it and begin to come every day to eat the free food. "When they are used to coming every day, you put a fence down one side of the place where they are used to coming. When they get used to the fence, they begin to eat the corn again and you put up another side of the fence. "They get used to that and start to eat again. You continue until you have all four sides of the fence up with a gate in the last side. "The pigs, which are used to the free corn, start to come through the gate to eat that free corn again. You then slam the gate on them and catch the whole herd. Suddenly the wild pigs have lost their freedom. They run around and around inside the fence, but they are caught. Soon they go back to eating the free corn. They are so used to it that they have forgotten how to forage in the woods for themselves, so they accept their captivity." The young man then told the professor that is exactly what he sees happening in America. The government keeps pushing us toward Communism/Socialism and keeps spreading the free corn out in the form of programs such as supplemental income, tax credit for unearned income, tax exemptions, tobacco subsidies, dairy subsidies, payments not to plant crops (CRP), welfare entitlements, medicine, drugs, etc., while we continually lose our freedoms, just a little at a time. One should always remember two truths: There is no such thing as a free lunch, and you can never hire someone to provide a service for you cheaper than you can do it yourself. If you see that all of this wonderful government "help" is a problem confronting the future of democracy in America, you might want to share this with your friends. God help us all when the gate slams shut! Quote for today: "The problems we face today are there because the people who work for a living are now outnumbered by those who vote for a living."

Take this example about rights from Chris Cuomo: CNN anchor Chris Cuomo debated Alabama Chief Justice Roy Moore over rights and marriage, particularly regarding the recent kerfuffle over same-sex marriage in the Heart of Dixie. When Moore explained that marriage is a matter of law and rights that come from God, Cuomo vehemently disagreed. "Our rights do not come from God, your honor, and you know that. They come from man," Cuomo insisted. Later he added, "That's your faith, that's my faith, but that's not our country. Our laws come from collective agreement and compromise." What utter hogwash. As Moore aptly noted, the Declaration of Independence is the law of the land, and it begins, "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed..." But Cuomo isn't just mistaken. He and his deceased father, Mario, and his brother Andrew, former and current governors of New York, hold a typical leftist view that government and not God creates rights. Therefore, those rights are subject to the whims of politicians because, as Chris Cuomo insisted, "Times change. Definitions change." Such views are dangerous and completely antithetical to the foundation of our country.

  29. I have to laugh at the two people posting claims of racism about the original post. It's obvious they have not read the article at all. Rather they choose to prevent others from reading it by attempting to label it as racist. How do you guys ever form your opinions on anything if you don't even look at the issues from both sides? Why is it racist for any group in America to look out for it's own interests? Or more accurately, the white people in the country are racist if they tell the truth about racism in the country. Reading that article would leave even the most radical progressive hard pressed to refute much of what the author says. That being the case, what the author says in much of that article is truth! But for some, the truth is hate speech and must be silenced. That, my friends is the real racism in America today. When either of you two care to address specifics about the article, maybe we can have an intelligent civil debate. Until then, take your hatred and self loathing home with you where you can flog yourself to your heart's content.

  37. 13 years ago me and 2 buddy's were bored so we decided that the next day we would pack the truck and head to the Adirondack since none of us had never been there we packed the truck picked a spot on the map and drove the 7 or so hrs and found a lean 2 dam that's spelled wrong lol. We stayed 2 nights it was -17 the first night and we got about 1'of fresh snow that night and had a great time. each year me my father inlaw broth in-laws and friends go up to Allegheny state park and do a guys over night trip most of tge guys stay in tents me and my father inlaw usually crash in our hammocks that's always a blast

  40. How about paddles, you like them long or short? Funny thing, I like both! When I got my canoe a neighbor gave me a long wooden paddle he had in his garage for years. I really like it but I also have a much shorter aluminum/plastic one that works fine too. When my wife and I go together, I take the longer one and she uses the short one. Good times! (no back rests in use this day)

Back-checking the accuracy made me sick to my stomach, so I stopped reading, but many of the currently proposed regulations are still based on the 'standards' put in place by these guys. I'd be willing to bet that most colleges have incorporated these 'standards' as part of their curricula as well. And so it continues. This is your government folks.

  46. Right there is some great advise... Let me say that even with little time to scout...at least try to drive by some of the areas you may want to hunt just at daylight with the window down and a week or 2 before season....I say this because that is the only time I hear birds in our area sounding off...See we are high pressure...as I'm sure the public land is...they go quite after the first day of the season. Also don't get too upset when you hear a bird a couple of hundred yards away and get him to commit...just to find out you were calling for someone else when their gun goes off....it's happened to me a few times and I hunt private property we own...neighbors love me . When hunting hill sides without open fields near........ they tend to drop down on the highest spot and head to water if hens aren't very near...if they have a fairly open flight they can glide down hill (to water) then slowly make their way back up hill...just what I personally have observed on our hill side lands. don't get too antsy on wanting to move....if you got a responce he can take some time getting to you.....Have fun this spring and be safe....
