Just need the doors (the hard part) and it's done. I'll wait a few weeks to stain and seal it so the lumber can dry out5 points

I am not sure if this was ever posted here before, if so I apologize. While some may get all bent that this is political, I don't see it that way. But I still put in this area to make sure it didn't get twisted. This young lady knowns more about the difference between an "Assault Weapons" then Andy, Hillary, and all the people blocking "Black Rifles" will ever know. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L_-N9_tnWBo4 points

Same here. Been running a "trap line" around the yard for about a week now. Must have caught 100 of the little diggers already on 3 sets. Just using a few sunflower seeds on them so no gooey mess. Might have to do a euro for a nice addition to the trophy room,lol4 points

I wanted to see if I could get a nice char on a steak with propane like I can over coals. I was pretty shocked I actually did it. Only been cooking on propane grills for about 5 years. Before that it was always charcoal or over campfire coals. Nice little char on top and a perfect center! Brussels sprouts and a mayo based mac salad with bacon.3 points

So group of jakes roosted 125 yards out. Soft tree talk they loved , clucks , scratching. Now they're out 250-300. I can't even call in jakes! They hurt my feelings3 points

Hoping for deja vu in the morning. Just roosted a longbeard in the same exact spot I killed my bird yesterday. He strutted out in the field with 3 hens til 8:52! It's the EXACT same hunt as yesterday. I killed the imposter bird, this one is the full bearded one that has been there for the post two months. My wife will be behind the gun. We are gonna try without the blind...3 points

So I got my 54 strawberry plants in and lined by a 3 ft high hardware cloth fence. My middle finger to the rodents and rabbits...the other middle will go up later in the form of corner extension and bird netting for the deer and coon....The deer destroyed my last 7ft high chicken wire fence...Buck tangled up in it, taking it and a couple of ornamental trees as well.....This is better. I miss my strawberry patch.....2 points

Thanks guys, I looked into it, not going through the headache of getting the DEP permits so ill probably stick to the forests. As of now looks like were gonna be heading to baxtertown. Were going to be staying in Poughkeepsie at a friends house, so I guess ill make one last plea for someone to share a good spot near there with me lol!? Someone mentioned salt point, but that's pretty vague. Also, all the advice should be helpful, it really is greatly appreciated. On another note, hows the fishing up there? Also got licensed for it this week. Looking to really use every bit of outdoors I can this weekend lol1 point

I shoot mine out to 60 at the range (when I have time to go to the range) with no issues. Plenty accurate. I run straight Blazer vanes on my arrows. No damage at all.1 point

I run a 4' king kutter tiller on my 28hp CAT and it does great even on virgin soil.. i only have it set to till 3-4" of soil. no need to work the full 6-8" depths.. theyre just food plots lol.. plus its harder on the machine/equipment... if slip clutch is set right it shouldnt be too bad.. it still doesnt like big rocks but does a good job and fast, so you can go over it a second time or three if needed I have the bolts on my slip clutch backed off to where they are free, then hand snugged then tightened with a wrench about a 1/4- 1/2 a turn more, and that is all, any more than that the slip clutch wont work ... took me awhile to find its sweet spot.. lol1 point

Sadly for all the blowhard gun control advocates everything she said went through one ear through the empty space inside their heads and then quickly exited the other ear. Sent from my SM-G935V using Tapatalk1 point

One hen, not necessarily low population. She just may be to and fro from her nest and your yard on her travel route. Betting she's on eggs . Was it winter hwen you saw 10-20 hens? Winter flocks , they split up in late winter . I had 25 birds roosted above my treestand during ML season. Now I'm hard pressed to get a gobble as bastids moved and split into smaller groups. Birds might rip on roost, they might not, they may gobble when hens go to nest late morning, they might not.1 point

If it was anything even close to a level playing field within the DNC Bernie would be tied with Clinton at this point. Quite possibly ahead. The Democrats have managed to push the center so far to the left over the last 100 years that JFK would currently be considered a somewhat radical right-winger. And on the flip-side; Ryan, McConnell, Romney, et al, would likely have been considered Socialists in 1960.1 point

Belo I very much like it. I went the hanger route for now. It's on a basement wall but with a mount , flat screen, and now this sticking out from wall, it's getting crowded .1 point

Bernie's relevance is as an indicator of how far the Democrats will go with Socialism. Bernie is just stupid enough to preach it thinking that will get him elected. Every election from now on will show how much farther left the Dems will go until they achieve total Socialism. It's incremental.1 point

I bought on of these off of Rick yesterday. They do sound awesome….Tried it out this morning , nothing going on but the sound is sweet in the open woods. Its a hen.1 point

I'll throw this out there. Anyone perhaps interested in loading TSS turkey loads in 20 gauge or 12 gauge ? Guys love toting a 20 gauge jacked up with these and they out perform 3.5 " 12 gauge loads at 40 yards. #9's are supposed to be great but NY doesn't allow anything under #7's I believe. We could all throw in to get the shot, hulls and such . Just a thought for you reloaders. Would have to meet up to get such ammo from person who reloads as wonderful Safe Act and all. Apparently my current loads and daughters are defective as they don't make any noise so far this year1 point

How exactly is Cuomo "in tune" with hunters? He has the occasional letter in the DEC magazine? He poses with a deer hunter for a photo every now and then? Cuomo is a politician, and barring any extensive backwoods experience he may have (which I've not heard of, but then again I haven't researched much about his past) his "support" for hunting seems to only go so far as is needed to bring in the rural, blue-collar votes (as is the case with many other politicians). I won't get into the back-and-forth on the SAFE Act other than to say that most hunters I know are pro 2nd amendment and don't like it, which shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone. As for fishing for red herring, it's funny that you bring that up. Your signature talks about building support for dove hunting, while you don't seem to have any problems with trashing other people's ideas/opinions that differ from your own on issues like firearm legislation or bear hunting. I realize others on here have been side-tracking this thread with overtly political comments, but you've also been doing a bit of pot-stirring yourself, far too much of it in my opinion to be calling other people out. As for how we reframe trophy hunting, I think education is a good approach. Educating hunters on proper game management (truthfully, I find that the average hunter already knows quite a bit on the local wildlife and their ecological role in the region vs the average non-hunter) and educating the public, who by and large know very little about hunting, wild-life management, land management, ect. If non-hunters are using HSUS and PETA videos to learn about hunting, then of course they're going to get a very one-sided narrative. Government wildlife agencies and hunter conservation groups should at least provide information to the public, engage in conferences, public meetings, ect. to explain how hunting takes place and is managed for long term sustainability.1 point
