I came into work this morning to find a group of people in my office with their faces plastered against my window. It was a nice way to start the day, took a few shots before mom started working her way back.4 points

Stubby, I am not sure why you need to offend all bowhunters with your blanket accusations of elitism. Painting any group with such a broad brush always undermines credibility. Thank goodness you stopped being an elitist when you put down your bow.4 points

The most gruesome wounding is the head shot that misses and take out the jaw. But of course you don't miss right?3 points

I thought these 3 were going to come up my walk way to the front door. They saw me thru the window and decided against it. They moseyed around a bit and walked across the street to my neighbor's back yard. I guess they know where their safe.3 points

I've learned to accept that an animal I intend to kill will more then likely be scared and feel some pain after I shoot them...pretty much comes with the territory. The act of killing something is seldom pretty, regardless of the weapon.3 points

I know there is a lot of discussion on the use of crossbows. Especially those in the bow hunting camp. But that being said what about allowing those 60 and over given an exemption to use the crossbow all bow season. Seems we are making many exemptions for youth hunting but what about the elderly hunters who have filled the coffers all these years. They have paid their dues and should be afforded an exemption also. JMHO2 points

I fish the NYC reservoirs via the rowboat. The first thing I do before I start rowing is that I dip the net in the water for good luck. I'll see what happens tomorrow when I go.2 points

Was at the shop when they opened. LOL. It's in the safe now. Picked up a box of Federal Fusion 120Gr. I noticed that the bolt is rubbing on the scope so new rings in the future.2 points

The boga is awesome for reviving coldwater fish after a tough fight. Can't tell you how many deep fish we have brought to the boat that would have died on release if not for the boga. Oh and I really don't have any superstitions. I just blame the fish when they aren't biting.2 points

I gotta say this, since we're on the topic of the pain and fear an animal feels when being killed by a human....almost every deer I've killed with an arrow was dead when I found it or died with never knowing what happened to it, and never seeing me. However, I can't say that about the deer I've shot with a bullet, there have been many that have layed there unable to move, taking their last breath while they watched me approach or stood next to them.......and I bet the majority can say the same.2 points

I wouldn't normally ask for this here...but if you could please keep me in your prayers In the whole scheme of things this is really a little thing,,,but as you know my knees aren't stellar...Today I did a few hours of mowing and when I got off the tractor they were stiff...decided to walk it off and go get the mail...2ft from the box I step off the road(crest of hill) and my foot must have caught the edge of pavement and the soft gravel...Next thing I know I'm flung forward into the culvert head first. I mentioned they are steep, well I managed to get my hands in front of me as my rt. knee slammed to the ground and I started the slide down the bank face first. Did a somersault and landed....If I wasn't in so much pain...reading this would have me laughing out loud...for it pretty much looked like it sounds...my palms are sliced up a bit but my knee is a mess and swollen and doing a popping thing just siting here...I must be in a bit of pain for I'm rather shaky at the moment........Hey could have been worse...could have broken my leg, wrist or hip! I'll count those blessings... So please if you could ask the guy upstairs if he could just let this be a bruise and nothing worse...I would really really appreciate it...Thanks...Chris2 points

If a deer I kill takes a minute or an hr to die that is better than the lifetime of misery that the hog or cow would have to endure in captivity. I have killed a lot of critters and some lived a lot longer than I would have liked but there is no guarantee of a fast kill with any weapon. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk2 points

They are either archery equipment or they are not. A crossbow does not morph into something else when different people shoot it.2 points

Been hearing reports of nesting snappers so I shot out to look for a few this evening. No luck with them, but I did find a couple green herons hunting frogs down in the crick. These things normally give me fits trying to get close enough to them. Today they acted like I was invisible! Must have been drunk on frog slime,lol2 points

Finally trees in numbers and somerhing other than pines. Got some great info in south dakota and again met some really nice folks. Saw piles of ring necks and even had to stop on i90 to allow a hen to cross with her 10 little puff ball chicks. Time to start making tracks east.... Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk1 point

I've always been superstitious when it comes to sports and that carried over into hunting and fishing. Fishing-wise, I fish the NYC reservoirs so it's rowboats only and no motors allowed. I have my pliers and tape measure on my seat to my right. My boga grip behind me on floor, and beer or coffee to my left. Always the same exact setup, etc. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point

Ain't nothing slow about it. Yes some guys may wound deer, it's no less perhaps than the gun or maybe it is. This is why shots only in the weapons effective range should be attempted w any weapon, if you've never taken one w bow you have no personal experience to draw from1 point

I respectfully disagree Bowguy. The range is the same as a modern compound. Sill shoots an arrow/bolt off a string and just has a different release mechanism, although my compound release has a trigger too. There are always things we don't like that others do in hunting. But if they are legal, does that make them wrong for everyone? Very simply put, if something is not for you, don't use it. Hunt how you want. And let others do the same.1 point

Scored this nice buck on 11/1/15 While hunting with my brothers in Rock Hill. He was chasing a doe and came straight at me. When he got to 13 yds I drew down on him with my Bowtech Destroyer and sent my Rage tipped Easton Flatline at him. He dropped a few yards away.1 point
