  3. Well today was one of the greatest days of my life, my cousin is in town and the other day when we were talking I told her to drop her kids off so her and her husband could have a day to them selves. She has 3 kids 2 boys and a girl oldest 11 youngest 5. We had a BLAST! We rode the wheelers, went swimming fished in the creek, shot bows and shot guns, basically the perfect day. Her kids had so much fun they live in a city and don't get to do these things. My daughter is 8 and she had so much fun with the kids as well. Apparently in the 10 years since I last seen my cousin a lot has changed. She came and picked them up and about 2 minutes later called my phone hysterical and screaming at me for allowing her kids to shoot guns and "hurt fish." After trying to figure out what she was screaming about for a couple minutes I asked her if she was bringing them over again tomorrow and she hung up. What the hell is wrong with people these days? 10. When she was dropping them off they all got out of the van carrying iPads I told them to put them back in the car and they wouldn't need them today. She told me oh they'll get bored you better let them take them, I said no they won't need em. Not once did they ask for them or seem bored. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  14. The only reason I am trying to learn all this is due to archery becoming my favorite season and the fact that I finally bought a brand new real good bow so to maximize my experience I want it to be right. Kinda like guys who develop hand loads...are they needed no probably not but to get the full experience and range they are difference makersSent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk

  16. I'll continue to buy the rage from the local shop ,not to support rage but to support the local shop owner. He is a great guy and in fact just last night I stopped in with my bow that was shooting less then consistent and he stopped what he was doing to take me to his range and shoot through paper and make some adjustments at no charge .

  21. This seems to be an annual debate on the forum. The ole hwgt, piledriving arrows vs the lg wgt. flatter trajectory ones... Basically comes down to being a personal preference! Different, yeah, but a lot of similarities to the debates over handguns or long rifles, which caliber is best??? Really have to look at the big picture of your bow hunting, from tackle, proficiency, personal effective range, expectations to hunting techniques and not solely at what happens at impact.Review all the opinions, but ultimately it's your choice!

  26. I planted part of the fall garden yesterday. I have the garden divided up into 4 sections. Grapes & blueberries Then 3 rotational sections. The back one has most all my veggies.Once they are well into harvest I will loosen all the soil around the plants and lay down red clover. In the middle section Half had red clover growing and I just cut and tilled it in.This is where I planted more beans, broccoli, cukes, and Two more dozen tomato plants given me. The other half got red clover. In the front section I put in a fenced strawberry patch, all my greens, carrots, beets, pickling cukes. This.s is one end,the middle has garlic and clover. The other end weeds.Today I will dig the garlic, mow clover and weeds then till. In the fall I will lay down WW or WR. plant garlic some place. The clover and grains help soil and suppress weeds, but also the deer can't resist eating inside the garden fence. Even though the garden is completely surrounded by clover/alfalfa,clover/grass,turnps. So I open the gate and let them eat there pooping away adding more fertilizer once all harvest is done. I Have stands set up 10 yrds either side of the garden at one end and forty yrds off either end. It took me years of fighting them with fences.to realize if It's not them then it's something else that will cause me problems...So now I relax my brain and let them work for me. Biggest action I saw last year were Fox hunting rodents and rabbits in the garden.bucks walk perimeter . And fawn/doe hang inside the fence.

  28. damn. they should have shimmed before the plywood. Might sound silly but if the slope is in the right direction so the base will drain and the floor is straight (not level but straight) why shim? you doing tile or stone walls in the shower? A good tiler could make that disappear and then you dont have to worry about transitions that look bad at the door.

  29. Compound is 80 and recurves are both in the 52-53lbs at my DL. Not the fastest, but hit like a tank. IMO, if I am off in estimating yardage (benefit of a light arrow) I will still have a bad shot even with light arrows at any distance beyond 30yds. Inside 30, it makes little difference.

  37. Yes you are fine to shoot mechanicals, just don't have a lightweight arrow and try to cut a huge hole through something. Your penetration will suffer. Don't plan for when everything goes right, plan on something that'll work when everything goes wrong... Which is penetration. Without penetration it doesn't matter what head you use. 38. You are fine to shoot mechanicals with your set up. Any lower than 60 and I would look at the heads built for lower ke. Edit to add IMO and I am not an expert on mechanicals. I switched to them two years ago. I shoot NAP Killzones and what ever their three blades are called. Lol

  39. Go as heavy as your able while maintaining a good velocity. I too went a lot heavier this year, I went from 7.4gpi to 10.9gpi. I lost a lot of speed but I'm still at the 300-310 mark where I'm happy. Noone complains about overpenetration, only under. A lot will depend on your broad head choice also, big cut mechanicals need more energy than say a 1 1/8" fixed head. Don't get too caught up in the KE hype either, its not a true measurement for penetration. Sent from my XT907 using Tapatalk

  44. Beans are great early, then once the leaves turn yellow, the deer seem to back off of them for a while, then they pick back up again after they get harvested if there are beans left on the ground. If the farmer harvests, and then plows or discs the field under, it becomes a wasteland.

  48. "Gun Dog encompasses all forms of dog used for all forms of hunting. Semantics I know." The term "Gun Dog" does not encompass all forms of hunting with dogs! Gun dogs are dogs used for bird hunting, Pointers, Setters, Spaniels and Retrievers. I suppose a Hound or Terrier may on rare occasions be used for some type of bird hunting but for the most part they fall under a completely different category of hunting dog and are used and hunted much differently, Animals such as Varmints, Rabbits, Squirrels, Coon, Possums, Fox and Coyotes.
